Jerry & Stephen will always be who they are and that's what this membership has to look forward to.

Like it or not, some things never change, unless of course, the folks who make it what it is change in the process.

I likely won't live to see that happen, but I wish those of you are left in the future enjoy the results as much or more than we do now.
In the meantime, try to remember it's just a game and the results are merely fleeting thrills that disappear in time!

I know some of you will ridicule this OP, and I don't care. I wouldn't be opposed to Mike McCarthy returning. There's something to be said for a coach who, despite all the adversity he's faced, has kept this team in contention to where the playoffs are not out of the realm of possibility.

I remember in 2015 when we lost Romo, and the team fell apart under Garrett for a 4-12 record. This is now twice where Mike has kept this team fighting despite significant injuries to the team.

I think, unless the replacement in mind is someone like Vrabel, I'd rather Jerry give Mike a 3-4 year extension (especially since there's no cap on a coach). If Jerry and Mike are okay with this, I'd like a coaching staff of Mike at HC, Daboll at OC (he did well with Josh Allen in Buffalo, and he can call good plays), and Saleh at DC. That'd actually be a good coaching staff.

I know it's easy to look at a coach like Bill B and point to the championships. However, 1. What's his record without Brady and 2. How does he coach through adversity?

To me, when I see Mike McCarthy coach, I see someone who has, despite Jerry, kept a culture of keeping a struggling and less talented team fighting. It seemed he'd lost the locker room. Yet, especially the last 3 weeks, he's got the team fighting. Sure, he's got his flaws, and every coach does. That said, I love the culture he's instilled of fighting through adversity. He's got a winning record with us.

So yeah, I wouldn't be opposed to a 3-4 year deal for Mike *shrugs*, especially since Jerry can sack him without salary cap consequences.
If they win 4-5 more. They are gonna run it back . Unless the last loss keeps them out of a crazy playoff scenario. Listen to MP talk about Zim lately. He doesn’t want to learn another scheme. Offensively, the scheme sucks. But the players love Big Mike. His play calling skills bother the hell out of me. I can see Jerry telling him to turn the play calling duties over to someone else and going back to being the HC.

The whole trinity of mediocrity Jerry, MM and Dak need to be gone, then we're talking about a future for the Cowboys. Until then it'll be just more of the same.

Jerry won't be gone anytime soon, and Daks contract has been extended. That leaves MM for making room for someone new.

I honestly don't get the reason for such threads. Those two wins mean absolutely nothing. Barely making the play offs means nothing but a worse draft position. And MM called a horrible game yesterday, only the Giants being unworthy of the NFL atm saved us the win. So "getting back" the locker room means nothing. And I doubt he has ever lost it or ever had it.

Nothing has changed. 12 win regular season or a disgrace like this one... it's always been the same at the core.

I've always liked Mike more than most. He's a very good NFL coach, and an underrated aspect here is he handles Jerry's spotlight and circus atmosphere better than many would.

That said, I do think he should go after this year, not because he sucks or because someone else will bring the magical touchdown play calls everyone wants, but for his own sake. He should go to a place like Jacksonville with a youngish talented QB and do his thing without an owner who forces terrible broken down BFF running backs on him or expects to win Super Bowls with only a decent QB after completely sitting out free agency. Don't forget flushing fourth round picks for proven busts down the toilet, too.

Because spoiler, the next guy isn't winning a Super Bowl with Dak as the highest paid QB and the worst DTs in the league either. Makes no difference if "that's what he was hired for."

There's a parallel with Dak, as Mike can overcome the less talented opposition but is found wanting against the elite. Now to his credit he did try and produce a more W(T)CO, which I would of thought would of suited Dak/CeeDee.....but results were the same (great vrs mediocre, poor vrs elite). Is the problem Dak/Mike, or does he need a QB with different qualities.....because he's not getting it done with Dak's skill set.

We have Dak (fortunately or unfortunately) and the reality is that Mike just doesnt seem to get the best out of him (when it matters). The interesting scenario would of been seeing him with a QB (be it rookie or vet), that suited the way he wanted to play ......whilst freeing up CAP over the next three years.

Daboll offense in NY has been total garbage the whole time he’s been there . Saleh had plenty of time as HC to put some kind of identity to the Jets , he didn’t . Why anyone would want either of them in Dallas is beyond me .

If somehow MM can get 9 wins that’s 4 out of 5 winning seasons in Dallas he should get some consideration . On the other hand anything under 9 wins is 2 out of 5 losing seasons, not good . I’m reluctant to keep MM for this reason . Dallas in the 5 yrs he’s been here is no closer to NFCCG then when he got here let alone a SB .

And im “Not in love” with this staff that's under him

I'm a firm believer that if someone shows who they are, then you should believe them. 4 years we've been undisciplined (penalties) with bad time management and coaching. We've seen the results in the playoffs and I don't see anything changing. It's time for a new voice.

maybe if he fires his OLine coach, hires a better run game coordinator, not abandon the run especially when you need to run the clock at end of the half and hire someone to help him with clock management.

MM isn’t the problem but he has been here for 5 years and we have not made it past the divisional rounds. He has earned the right to play out his contract but an extension? No……

I have been critical of Mike at times but there is a much greater than zero chance that his replacement will be noticeably worse than him given Jerry's proclivities. I would take BB or ben johnson and I think most people envision a good coach as MM's replacement. We shouldn't forget that this is Jerry here.

I can't jump on bord with this now. It would he a miracle if he ran the table and won 10 games. He'd get my vote then.

I wouldn't like it though, because change is needed one way or the other, and coaching is the low hanging fruit.

More than anything his oline coach, and his "running game coordinator" need to go. Let's also face it, he's never been an awesome coach for coordinating the run. These are big problems.

There’s a reason why he was out of the league for so long. He’ll never be a head coach in the nfl again.
