I'd like to know who started the anti-Roy Williams campaign

It really began back in Parcells last season. The first game of the year, Plaxico Burress caught a touchdown pass that Roy Williams would have knocked down if he hadn't run into the official.

After that, it seemed that every failure of the defense was Roy's fault.

Someone catches a touchdown pass- it's Roy's fault.

Someone breaks a run to the end zone- it's Roy's fault.

Wade Phillips breaks a toe nail walking across the sideline- It's Roy's fault.

I don't get it. I watched Roy Williams take Peyton Manning to school that year, and eat his lunch. Roy's play is a big reason that we beat the undefeated Colts.

But, someone started an anti- Roy Campaign. If we lose a game, it's Roy's fault.

It's not like we don't have other defensive backs, or linemen in the game.

They blame it all on Roy.

I, for one, am a Cowboys fan. And, I like players like Roy Williams who seem to be able to step up and charge the team with his play.

If Roy Williams has done anything wrong- it's being counted on too much.

He's still an all-pro in my book.

Roy has been getting criticized pretty much his entire career. As a rookie, he was a "bust" even before midseason because he didn't have any interceptions. The criticism stopped when he finally got one in Week 11, then put together one of the best seven-game stretches any safety has ever had. But two weeks into his second season, the "Roy can't cover, can't tackle and is overpaid" bandwagon was rolling again, and it basically has never stopped since then.

His inability to cover in the passing game has been an obvious flaw since his days at Oklahoma; sadly it's a flaw that has carried over to the NFL. I think it actually limits the full capability of the defense.

Roy Williams started it.......with his bad play and his inability to take responsibility for his bad play. It's always someone else's fault.

So if you must blame someone blame him.

It's been going on since Darren Woodson's career ended with an injury in '04.

If anything-it's not so much Roy's presence, but it's been THE LACK OF Darren's during this time that has crippled our D. Throughout his long tenure here, he's been the glue to our entire secondary AND defense.

Remember we had the #1 D back in '03.

I am still waiting for the explanation about eating Peyton's lunch.

I must have watched a different game. Or that one interception was more profound than it seemed.

Bingo - Roy Williams has started it. He can't cover a lick and of late last few years his game impacting blowup hits are in decline. Last year his on field role was reduced. He also is not a leader - by nature.

When he got burned for 2 TD's by Santana Moss and the Commanders. After that everybody began to expose his cover weakness. Countless TE's over the middle as well, Shockey owns RW.:bang2:

But I don't know who 1st started posting it here. I'm sure that individual will gladly brag about it sooner or later. I was in denial for almost 2 years.

Bradie James was another weakness over the middle till last season. God I hope Zack can stay healthy...
