If a SB win, would this be the best Cowboys team all time?

Its just a hypothetical for the fans that are about to say "lets win a playoff game first".
Nobody is saying the Cowboys will win the SB so chill yourselves out.

In a hypothetical situation if the cowboys won the SB this year, where would you rank this team amongst the other SB winning teams?

I for one would put this team higher based on the competition in the playoffs and a more difficult era of football compared to years past.

I know some might say well those cowboys teams had great competition but teams such as the 49ers and ravens today would have been super teams back in those days.

Yes there were some amazing defenses back then but do we really believe those team back then would have stood any chance in todays game? I dont.

Yes todays game is different and different era's yadda yadda, but based on difficulty of todays game and era, a cowboys SB win would imo rank them high.

I believe any team that can SB with the like a ravens and 9ers team lurking about should be considered a pretty damn good team for the 23-24 season, if a team other than the ravens or 9ers win the SB.

Will dallas win the SB? maybe not likely, but i just had an hypothetical brainstorm!
No way they compare with the early to mid-90s teams.
But a SB win this time makes them just as golden in me luminescent eyes.

They didn't get curb-stomped like this team does against elite teams.
The 95 team did , at home against Grbac. Had GB not beat them, we most likely would have gotten worked in SF NFCCG

I like this exercise.

Who could play on our 92 team from 23?
Defensively
1. Micah (obvious) generational talent.
2. Tank--wouldn't start, but would certainly be in the DL rotation
3. Gilmore--remember, Pup (Kevin Smith) didn't start most of the year. Brown was gritty, but limited.
4. Bland--possibly rotational

Offensively
1. CeeDee--like Micah, transcends generations. Could play in any era
2. Martin--one of the best OL to play for Dallas. Allen wasn't on the team in 92. Martin would start
3. Cooks--would not start, but would definitely play
4. Aubrey--Lin Elliot was our only weakness on the 92 team.

Again....fun exercise. I also think a younger Tyron Smith starts for the 92 team. I love Tui (RIP), but Smith's athleticism was incredible.

The talent on that 92 team was unbelievable. They would crush any team from the last 30 years. I would kill for Emmitt, Novacek, and Irvin right now. Imagine was a 6-6 295 pound crazy athletic Leon Lett would do for this defense. And remember, he and Woodson both came off the bench! They weren't starters in 92. Everett and Washington would be welcome starters for this team right now. And let's not forget the wealth of speedy, talented LBs we had.
You left out Tyron Smith. A healthy Tyron sends Tooey to the bench post haste. Before his back stiffened up on him he was playing at an all pro level.

This will always be a trick question. The people who give no chance and act like the 70s teams were far superior are most likely older. Generations tend to think they had the "best" everything. I mean go talk to a 65 year old man and they will tell you "they don't make cars like they used to" I mean sure..but that still doesn't disprove the fact that a car in 2023 blows the doors off a 1970 Nova.

So yea this is a trick question. The 1970s teams would be mind blown by how fast all the big boys got and I'm sure the 70s team would shock this team in different ways. So my answer is...who knows. It definitely is a question older people will be more offended by.

Myself I look at basketball and I know the guys in the NBA in 1970 would lose to the players now. Not sure if same logic holds up in football.
Yes that was a great answer and holds up well! Those teams were good back then but i highly doubt alot of teams back then (cowboys or non-cowboys team) could hang with the fast modern teams of today. I just believe we are in a more complicated era to win a SB and that if dallas could some how win one in todays game, i would give them maybe a mid ranking. I definitely would not say they are the worse SB winning team or rank them 6th or last as some have.

Hypothetically, if dallas beats the 49ers to get to the SB, and beat the ravens to win the SB, then i am sorry, this team has to be ranked high...better than some of the 70s team, and ranked higher than atleast one 90s team, atleast.

I cant imagine dallas doing that this year, but if they do, then that is where i stand putting this team up there in rank.

77 and 92 didn't have as many blowouts as this team does. To give this team their respect, I'll call them the most dominant Cowboys team in history IF they win the Super Bowl (especially if they beat Frisco and the Ravens).

You can't be the most dominant team in Cowboys history with two blowout losses on your ledger and another 12 point loss to boot. The 77 and '92 teams had like one such game all season. This team has had three.

They didn't have as many blowouts because those teams centered their offenses around the run.
Different offenses, different eras.
And, in my opinion, they played tougher competition than this current Dallas team, which built its record on marshmallows who couldn't stop a common cold much more the Cowboys passing attack.

I thought about Lawrence. He was borderline to me.
I'll give you Gilmore.
Lawrence is playing so well this year. Dominant in the run game, getting pressure on the QB, and chasing down plays from behind. He looks like a young man, but he's not.

LOL.....

The 1977 Cowboys had the #1 offense, the #1 defense, held half of their regular season opponents to 10 points or less, defeated their playoff opponents by a margin of over 21 points (three TD's), and was led by a SB MVP QB, Roger Staubach.

Tony Dorsett, heir starting RB, a rookie Heisman Trophy winner and #2 overall pick in the draft had a thousand yard season in 1977, the last season that was 14 games long. In front of Dorsett was FB Robert Newhouse, who also had over 700 yds. There was also veteran Preston Pearson, their 3rd down RB with over 800 yards combined running and receiving.

The WR's were manned by 1st team All Pro #88 Drew Pearson. On the other side, you would see Golden Richards or Butch Johnson. The Cowboys leading receiver for eight seasons, Tony Hill, was a rookie and sat the bench, only two receptions that season. The TE was Pro Bowler Billy Joe Depree

The offensive line was manned bv the "Irish Connection", Pat Donovan, Tom Rafferty, and John Fitzgerald.

In the SB that year, the defense was so devastating that the Bronco's starting QB, Craig Morton, registered a QB rating score of 0.0. They had to split the SB MVP award to two D-linemen. They tore Morton apart like a turkey wishbone. That was Randy White and Harvey Martin. The other DE was Ed Too Tall Jones. Randy was a #2 overall pick and Too Tall was a #1 overall pick. They also had veteran Jethro Push.

The safeties were perennial Pro Bowlers Cliff Harris and Charlie Waters

We know who their HC was. The OC was Dan Reeves, the special teams coach was Mike Ditka, the secondary coach was Gene Stallings

.....a little difficult to put this current team in front of the 1977 season, no matter how well they do from this point on.
