If a SB win, would this be the best Cowboys team all time?

Switzer infected the team with poor team discipline in 1996 and it showed. We never recovered.
They went from a hard nosed discipline NFC East team to a team full of Deon wannabees....your right we still haven't recovered.

Id rank this team like this if we win a SB this year. 1...the 1977 team. 2. The 92 team. 3. the 1993 team. 4. the 2014 team(robbed)..big asterisk,5. The 1995 team 6. The 1994 team . 7. the 2016 team. 8. the 71 team. 9...the 78 team, 10. The 2023 team currently IF we win a SB. We had some hellish teams defensively in the 70's. I mean that in the best way. As great as we are offensively this year, our defense isnt anywhere near those 90's teams or the 70's teams.

in my opinion this team would be ranked my 10th best Dallas team. Thats not too shabby when you think about how many winning seasons we have had as well as SB appearances.

The 95 team was the start of the demise, they were lucky to not draw the niners in the playoffs and take Deon away from them. The lack of discipline was starting to show and its a credit to the leaders on the team like Aikman that they would actually win the SB, although O'Donnell helped the cause.

Probably my least favorite SB winning team, but a rings a ring.
Not sure how were lucky not to draw the Niners when they couldn't even beat the Packers at home. Look I know the 95 team was the weakest of the 3 SB champions but that team was still very good. 95 was around the beginning of free agency in the NFL. We lost of lot of our depth and the team started to get older.

Furthermore champions get lucky. The phrase sometimes I'd rather be lucky than good. The 95 Cowboys were both. Many SB champions are both. Many champions in any sport are both. Many of the Tom Brady Patriots teams were both. He and the Patriots definitely ain't gonna give those SB rings back because they got lucky in some cases. It is what it is.

Its just a hypothetical for the fans that are about to say "lets win a playoff game first".
Nobody is saying the Cowboys will win the SB so chill yourselves out.

In a hypothetical situation if the cowboys won the SB this year, where would you rank this team amongst the other SB winning teams?

I for one would put this team higher based on the competition in the playoffs and a more difficult era of football compared to years past.

I know some might say well those cowboys teams had great competition but teams such as the 49ers and ravens today would have been super teams back in those days.

Yes there were some amazing defenses back then but do we really believe those team back then would have stood any chance in todays game? I dont.

Yes todays game is different and different era's yadda yadda, but based on difficulty of todays game and era, a cowboys SB win would imo rank them high.

I believe any team that can SB with the like a ravens and 9ers team lurking about should be considered a pretty damn good team for the 23-24 season, if a team other than the ravens or 9ers win the SB.

Will dallas win the SB? maybe not likely, but i just had an hypothetical brainstorm!
I have to admit, even without reading your post just going off of your title, the answer would be not no, but hell no!

We barely win a game we got outplayed in and didn't look tough in, now not only superbowl talk but cowboys GOAT talk...

Dallas gave up a first drive TD from the start...That focus has not correctly been carried yet on the team. You don't get great cheating or not being prepared for real. Neither allows a team to be great...period.

This will always be a trick question. The people who give no chance and act like the 70s teams were far superior are most likely older. Generations tend to think they had the "best" everything. I mean go talk to a 65 year old man and they will tell you "they don't make cars like they used to" I mean sure..but that still doesn't disprove the fact that a car in 2023 blows the doors off a 1970 Nova.

So yea this is a trick question. The 1970s teams would be mind blown by how fast all the big boys got and I'm sure the 70s team would shock this team in different ways. So my answer is...who knows. It definitely is a question older people will be more offended by.

Myself I look at basketball and I know the guys in the NBA in 1970 would lose to the players now. Not sure if same logic holds up in football.

44-10
that early 90s team was beating a sf team that would beat the crap outta the current sf team

no way the 23 cowboys beat the 92 squad...93 squad and not even the 94 squad that missed the sb

they may beat the 95 squad if they checked out and didnt care to even show up because they barely practiced and had a lack of discipline and won a sb

A better question is how many players from today's team would play on the '92 team? Definitely some.
I like this exercise.

Who could play on our 92 team from 23?
Defensively
1. Micah (obvious) generational talent.
2. Tank--wouldn't start, but would certainly be in the DL rotation
3. Gilmore--remember, Pup (Kevin Smith) didn't start most of the year. Brown was gritty, but limited.
4. Bland--possibly rotational

Offensively
1. CeeDee--like Micah, transcends generations. Could play in any era
2. Martin--one of the best OL to play for Dallas. Allen wasn't on the team in 92. Martin would start
3. Cooks--would not start, but would definitely play
4. Aubrey--Lin Elliot was our only weakness on the 92 team.

Again....fun exercise. I also think a younger Tyron Smith starts for the 92 team. I love Tui (RIP), but Smith's athleticism was incredible.

The talent on that 92 team was unbelievable. They would crush any team from the last 30 years. I would kill for Emmitt, Novacek, and Irvin right now. Imagine was a 6-6 295 pound crazy athletic Leon Lett would do for this defense. And remember, he and Woodson both came off the bench! They weren't starters in 92. Everett and Washington would be welcome starters for this team right now. And let's not forget the wealth of speedy, talented LBs we had.

This team isn't winning the SB. Arizona beating Philly didn't suddenly make them world beaters.

I've seen Cowboys SB winners. This team is flawed in comparison. Be happy if they finally climb the divisional round wall.

Some of you obviously drank a little too much on New Year's Eve and again yesterday..
In today's watered down and under coached NFL it's a good team, but if you transported this team back to '93 it would be a sub .500 unit.
