Agreed and this team will not go down with the ship. If Dak is having another Giant meltdown going 3 for 13 and 62 yards at the half you can bet it all on Romo coming off the bench. There are no hurt feelings here to get pulled. It's the playoffs and everyone needs to be held accountable. When decision time comes and I hope it doesn't but if it does Dak will be riding the pine...I have no doubts about that. You do not let a guy stay in with a Qbr of 43 when it's one and done, not with Romo sitting on the bench. It would be foolish to do anything else.
I feel the same way but I don't think the team would make a move.

Question....do some of you who are diehard Romo fans felt he should have been pulled when he had games as bad or worst than what Dak had? I'm just curious. Or, did you think....just a bad game..he'll bounce back?
The big difference being Romo always had the ability to get the ball down the field and there was never anyone behind Tony to even contemplate pulling him. We have not seen much long ball from Dak yet.

And this has nothing to do with being a diehard Romo fan, just saying if the QB is having a horrible outing in these playoffs he will get pulled as there is a legitimate QB behind him. Listen to Jerry with bill pollian tonight on Sirius and then let me know what u think.

And that's the big problem. I don't like criticizing Tony at this point in his career but it's hard not to when you have diehard Romo fans that are determined to replace Dak if he struggles some. They are not seeing the big picture.

I thought of an alternate ending, but Tony probably couldn't get the ball into the owner's box.

I have nothing but respect for Romo. He laid it all on the line, played with busted ribs, punctured lung, ailing back and who knows what else. The losses haven't all been his fault but if my memory serves me correct, he never threw his teammates under the bus. But this is Dak's time. Time to turn the page. Thank you Tony for all you did, kudos to you brother.

Would the people upset at the original post be ok if Dak was just having a "Maalox Moment" and Romo had to come in for him while he hit the crapper?

If I could write the end to Romo's career it would go something like this.

He is in demand this offseason as several teams think they are in contention and a QB away from having a real shot at winning it all.
He is traded to the Jets for a 1st rd draft pick.
The Jets go from horrible to outstanding with the addition of Romo.
He takes them to the superbowl when noone thought it was possible.
He loses the superbowl to the Cowboys but exceeds all expectations.
He cements his place as a Hall of Famer.

The player picked with the 1st rd pick received for trading Romo is a stud DE that has 15 sacks in his rookie year and averages 18 sacks per year in his long career.

He won't win the SB in Dallas unless Dak get's injured, nobody wants that to happen, if it does, be happy that we have an elite QB behind him because we would still be contending for a SB.
Best thing for Romo is to go to a contender, make them a SB team and win it all, maybe that way all the haters would realize he wasn't the problem in Dallas, he just needed better teams around him like all SB winning QB's need.
Love the guy, he gave everything for this franchise and for this fan base.

The Romo Juxtaposition. We love both Romo and Dak. We want Romo to go out on top, but dont want to wish injury or poor play on Dak. Romo as a backup winning a superbowl does nothing for his legacy

Perfect ending: we win super bowl this year, romo goes to texans next year. Romo vs cowboys next year in highest ever rated superbowl. i dont care who wins. Romo retires. Dak goes on to lead the next Cowboys dynasty. 4 total superbowl wins, 2 mvps.

Romo has done a lot and his stats in comparison to some of the all time greats are up there.
Romo will get compared to the QB of his era.

Big Ben
Brady
Manning
Brees
Rodgers

They all have rings, only 2 playoff wins not a good sign. People say look at Marino, Marino took Miami to the show and won a few playoff games and Marino had stats that no one had in a running and defensive league

Romo is a good QB, I have always thought with Romo any game was winnable. If Romo is called upon I hope he produces but otherwise it's Dak show.

I think we try in break Romo's back if we play Romo in the SB.

The OP is absolutely correct that Witten would be 2 yards short of the line to gain

I loved Danny and now he is barely remembered by Cowboy fans. Things aren't fair sometimes. He was good enough to win a SB as is Tony.
Danny was more consistent and had more playoff successes. At 1/5 (adjusted dollars) of the cost.

They're empty stats for him. Those other non SB winning QBs have real stats. That's how this game is played. Name stats he's great in, then move the goalposts. Repeat until they resort to 2 playoff wins.

I know the standards are high here, but a SB is not the end all be all of a QBs skill. It's just not. Romo is Dirk Nowitzki pre 2011. The stats all said he was great, the eyeball test said he was great and the "playoff chokes" were the same. Until he put the team on his back and drove his team to a championship. Now people act like all the negative crap they said about him was never uttered. They always knew how great he was. Now he's immortal and can do no wrong. But before that he was just a stat padder who would never win the big one. In reality, he was the same player then as he was in 2011 except he had a ring on his finger.
