If I Could Write the Ending to Tony Romo's Career

Question....do some of you who are diehard Romo fans felt he should have been pulled when he had games as bad or worst than what Dak had? I'm just curious. Or, did you think....just a bad game..he'll bounce back?
When has there ever been a half *** decent QB behind Romo to ever put in? And let's not act like these people hating Romo now aren't the same people who were saying to play Orton or Kitna after every bad game Romo had. People have wanted him benched or gone for years and now the same people get butthurt about Dak. Ironic doesn't begin to describe it.

People had a reason to be upset with Romo at times, because he was veteran quarterback that seemed to melt down at the most inopportune times. It's one thing if Dak makes a mistake, because he is a raw rookie, but some on here continually want to compare a rookie in his first season, to a 13 year veteran who has started for 10 years. Well I would hope that 10 year veteran is the better quarterback. Once again lets not forget Romo sat on the bench for 3 years, because he could not play at the level required when came out of college. The truth is Dak played at a higher level in college and in the toughest conference in the country. I know that doesn't guarantee success, but it does say something about Dak. Maybe Dak won't be the answer down the road, but he has shown that he should be given the chance to succeed or fail in Dallas. Romo had 10 years with no one to ever challenge him, and I think it hurt him over the years, because no matter what he did, he never had to worry that he would be replaced. It must be really tough for him now, as it apparently is for many of his fans. Did we forget how bad the team was last year without Romo? I for one am happy to see this team finally able to win, when Dez and Romo are not in the line up. No one could have ever foreseen that Dak would have this much success when he became the starter. But isn't that usually the way it happens, everyone gets replaced, and no one says their replacement has to be or will be a franchise or Hall of Fame quarterback. Danny White replaced Staubach, Romo eventually replaced Aikman,(several quarterbacks removed)and in each case a Hall of Fame quarterback was replaced by a good but not great quarterback.

If Dak wins 2 playoff games this year.. will the Romo pity party end?

I'm not sure it will ever end unfortunatearly. It appears that some people care more about certain players, than the actual team itself. I wish Romo well the rest of the way but at some point it will be nice to have moved on from all of this nonsensical conversation(s). Romo will be fine, he's a big boy. He was a very good QB for us for a good long time and his stay will always be appreciated, at least by me. There is nothing that says the future can't be exciting for Dak, the team AND Tony. .02

That's just stupid. I was one of Romo's biggest critics at one time. I loved him when Tony became the QB here but over the years he frustrated me. I wanted Johnny Manzel. lol There was no time I wanted to bench him for Orton or Kitna. And in 2014 I was one of his biggest supporters. That season was great. I supported our QB. It's too bad some can't do that now. And Dak's a rookie. I never turned on Tony when he was a rookie or the first year he started.

I get op, a fairy tale ending to Romo's time in Dallas.... but not at the expense of the Cowboys future QB.
Have to root for Dak's skills to get better, imagine the next few years if he does progress as a QB?

I love Romo, he's a warrior, but time doesn't stand still for fantasies to play out.

I have been around these boards for over twenty years. I have seen some strange things. I have posted some strange things myself.

But I have never EVER seen any post which indicated the author wants a player on the Dallas team to get hurt so their favorite player can get on the field. I'm certain the OP doesn't mean this in any negative way. Just his feelings about what Romo deserves.

Having said this, I cannot get past the idea of one of our players, and premium player should get hit in the head so Romo can come in.

If Romo gets into the game, I will be behind him all the way. If he doesn't then I will be behind whomever is starting at QB for the Cowboys.

Just astonishing.

Romo backing Dak up to a SB title, that would be sweet...

It is kind of to bad that the FO didn't rubuild the line a get a much running game going earlier in his career, and with a little better defence he could of taken us to the playoffs regularly...

The big difference being Romo always had the ability to get the ball down the field and there was never anyone behind Tony to even contemplate pulling him. We have not seen much long ball from Dak yet.

And this has nothing to do with being a diehard Romo fan, just saying if the QB is having a horrible outing in these playoffs he will get pulled as there is a legitimate QB behind him. Listen to Jerry with bill pollian tonight on Sirius and then let me know what u think.
I believe they ride with Dak....win or lose. Unless he's hurt, they won't pull him. We don't know if Romo would come in and do better. I don't care if he never throws a long ball. As long as we're moving the chains. Cause as long as we're moving chains, you run out of field....which means touchdowns. And....we're 12-2.

And that's the big problem. I don't like criticizing Tony at this point in his career but it's hard not to when you have diehard Romo fans that are determined to replace Dak if he struggles some. They are not seeing the big picture.
Yep.

I think it's the other way around.....people are getting butthurt cause Romo isn't playing. There are all kinds of excuses....Dak is not throwing the long ball enough. Dak isn't accurate, Etc, etc. Well, I don't care about the long ball as long as their moving the chains. If he's moving the chains, they score points. I've never seen people complain about a team when we're 12-2 with a dynamic QB. He does things that Romo CAN'T do. It's like a puzzle. Dak fits the puzzle perfectly. Will he have bad games? Of course he will. And if Dak doesn't win the Superbowl, I can imagine how this site will react. And there is no guarantee we win with Romo. I just don't get it. It has to be something else.

As long as we are fantasizing, why not have Dak turn it over to Romo for the last couple of plays in a comfortable SB win, finishing it off with the Landry Shift kneel down? A fitting way to honor both Romo and the legacy of Tom the man...

I lost faith in Tony Romo after the Commanders game when he threw the game losing interception that cost us a trip to the playoffs.

At that moment, I had an epiphany ... he couldn't be counted on to win when it mattered the most.

Jerry Jones then gave him a $100 contract extension after that lose. I would have started looking for his replacement.

They hit Witten hard but he fights through it and barely gets the ball across the plane. Touchdown! The Cowboys are Super Bowl champions!

I woke up right here.

I'm full behind Dak, but I do feel sorry for Tony Romo. I do wish he had a chance to win a Super Bowl in Dallas. But absent an injury to Dak, Tony's days are done in Dallas.
He'll have to go to Arizona (or maybe Denver, although I don't know if the cold is good for brittle bones) and stay healthy if he's going to have a chance for a Super Bowl appearance.

Romo will get compared to the QB of his era.

Big Ben
Brady
(Peyton and Eli) Manning
Brees
Rodgers

They all have rings, only 2 playoff wins not a good sign. People say look at Marino, Marino took Miami to the show and won a few playoff games and Marino had stats that no one had in a running and defensive league

Romo is a good QB, I have always thought with Romo any game was winnable. If Romo is called upon I hope he produces but otherwise it's Dak show.

Added to your post, which is very good.

Please don't make this a Dak versus Tony thing. I got a soft spot for Tony, although I believe starting Dak was the right choice. It would be a shame for such an improbable career as Tony's not to have the happiest of endings so I decided to write one. that's all.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Cowboys have achieved the unbelievable, here they are, playing the Patriots in the Super Bowl. The Cowboys have been playing well on offense, but struggling on defense. With 5 minutes left in the 3rd quarter they are down by 11 points.

Dak gets a hard hit on the head, a penalty on the Patriot defense, but Dak instantly goes into concussion protocol. In comes Tony Romo. At first Tony is tentative but then completes a long ball to Dez for a TD.

In the 4th quarter the defense plays a little better, both teams exchange another TD but now it's Cowboys ball, a minute and a half left in the game, down by four. They must score a TD. Tony has been hit a few times and he looked shaken but he got up each time. Now it is 1st and ten on the Patriot 25.

Great quarterbacks always have their "signature" moments. You have "the Catch", "the Hail Mary", "the Drive", "the Helmet Catch".......and now you have "Romo's Last Stand"

Methodically, Tony and the Cowboys drive down the field, Dez, Witten, and Beasely take turns catching critical passes. Finally, with 3 seconds left in the game the Cowboys are on the Patriot 12 yard line. There can be only one destination for this pass and the Patriots know it. It doesn't matter.

Tony goes back, he is almost instantly chased by a blitzer. He evades the rusher, then another. There is no more time on the clock. Just as two more defenders begin to descend simultaneously on Tony , he let's go, a perfect pass to Witten on the 2 yard line, between a LB and a safety.

They hit Witten hard but he fights through it and barely gets the ball across the plane. Touchdown! The Cowboys are Super Bowl champions!

Tony Romo is the MVP. When asked about his future he hints that he is satisfied that he has done all that he set out to accomplish, besides, he thinks he might have broken something, didn't want to report it.

Three days later, flanked by Jerry Jones and Jason Garrett, Tony Romo announces his retirement. Jerry says there is a job waiting for Tony if he wants it, however, Tony expresses interest in a position with ESPN or FOX. Both have made offers.

THE END
Your a real dreamer PM ! anything is possible .
