It's official, Terrell Owens is now more toxic and brings out the worst in posters than Quincy Carter.

People just need to realize that not everyone is going to view a certain player like they do and just move on.

The main problem is that proponents of Terrell Owens don't think he does anything wrong and the opponents of Terrell Owens think he does everything wrong.

Yeah I know. I guess there's no middle ground at all... What if he sent everyone a free i**** shirt? :)

Don't kid yourself,

If Jerry cut TO, he'd be signed before the cut showed up on the NFL website...
I guess that someone other than Jerry Jones, Jeff Lurie, could release Terrell Owens and it would take four days for other team (owned coincidentally by Jones) to sign him to their roster.

Never said he didn't. An assertion was made that if Owens were cut, he would immediately be snatched up. Of course, that's not necessarily true.

Absolutely not true...for me anyway. Don't get me wrong if it were up to me he never would have been a Cowboy and he would not be a Cowboy now.

However, I have more than supported him and given him many many benefit of the doubts. He is not to blame for all, but when you carry around his baggage some things get attributed to him that perhaps should not. Fair or not, that is the way it is.

I am not going to throw a hissy fit if he is still on the team next year, just like I did not when we signed him eventhough I never wanted him.

I don't know what is all real or fiction in terms of the drama that has been alleged in the Dallas lockerroom and attributed to TO (and neither does anybody else that claims otherwise).

I would say the reality is that it is not all real and certainly not all fiction. Given his history right or wrong, I can not give him the benefit of the doubt.

Not worth arguing over, he's staying so no one could ever be proven right or wrong.

I love this place. Before I came to the Zone, I thought that TO was a garden variety scumbag who punched his ticket out of two NFL cities and was up to his old tricks in a third. Now I realize that he's the unwitting victim of a massive media conspiracy and that Germany won WWII. Viva reality!

We'll never know. I'm confident he will finish out his contract.

I should have said "some", as opposed to "all" opponents and proponets.

Terrell Owens is such a lightening rod that any criticism of him, whether constructive or destructive gets blown way out of proportion by both sides.

This isn't a knock on Terrell Owens but I really wouldn't be suprised to find out that he is a polarizing figure in the lockerroom as well.

:lmao2:

I think it's neither of those two extremes and somewhere in the middle.

Of course it's not worth arguing over since it shouldn't have been assumed in the first place. And like any other player, the clock is ticking for when he's no longer an active member of the team.

My guess is that he is and that is why I don't think he is good for the team. I can't prove it, but that is what I believe and of course there is some ancedotal (San Fran and Philly) evidence that points towards what I believe to be true.

While the probability is next to zero that we'll never know how quickly another team would pick him up after Jerry Jones cut him, it will eventually be interesting to see how quickly Owens would be signed by another team after his time in Dallas is over--should he wish to continue his career at that time.

Now this would be an interesting discussion. Would any other team sign a 37 year old TO. Hmmm... I suppose that answer would be skewed by the possibility (which still remains in my opinion) that he helps this train wreck full of talent win at least one playoff game before his contract expires.

Jerry Rice signed with Oakland at 37 or 38 and became a Seahawks several years later, so it's definitely a possibility. If anything, the issue of age will not be the only detrimental topic of discussion between him and a potential suitor(s). Knowing Jerry Jones, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he tried to further lengthen Owens career in Dallas beyond 2009.

I'm just doing my part to counter the onslaught. Actually, this thread is in support of all 53. No one player is above or below the team. TO is a fierce competitor. Conventional thought would say we need a few more of those on this team.

Good. This board needs more T.O. supporters. :D

I agree. But one thing is for sure. Those with blind hatred for TO will stay that way.

SCUMBAG huh?

And you expect people to take you seriously.

The word "scumbag" should be reserved for the hundreds of criminals in the NFL. Players who drink to a .237 BAC and then drive with 3 other passengers in the car after having had a DUI 6 years prior. Players like Jeff Garcia.

I have no "expectations," other than you performing a colonoscopy on TO with your head. I'll try to find a clothespin for your nose.

Yeah, right. "Crimes" explain why Frisco and Philly couldn't wait to boot his ***.

Players who drink to a .237 BAC and then drive with 3 other passengers in the car after having had a DUI 6 years prior.

So basically he has to burn down an orphanage before you notice that something's amiss. Nice.

Players like Jeff Garcia

The teammate he accused of being gay? Typical scumbag tactic.
