I don't hate the guy, I think he can still play, he can still make the big play for us, and therefor I'm still going to cheer for him every week and continue to laugh at people who are so caught up in any of this that they feel the need to victimize, or villianize, any single person on a team.

When they're Cowboys I cheer for them, even if I didn't like them before they got here (See Deion Sanders and Adam Jones) and when they're gone, if they don't retire while playing for Dallas that is, I can go right back to not liking them while they're on another team.

These threads in defense, or flaming, individual players is becoming quite silly though. It's almost like this board is made up of a lot of little high school cliques who get together and piss and moan, all the time, about the other people in the school that they don't like.

I am not a TO fan but can live with the crap if he is a guy who performs on the field.

What I see is though, a guy who drops easy passes, does not fight for the ball and does not run crisp routes. He also does not get the first down when he should, instead trying to make the big play when the first down is 1 yard away. That is not acceptable at all from anybody, period.

Then you have to deal with the "if they gave me the ball more" crap.

It gets old, I don't see how anyone can complain about getting the ball when that is the kind of crap you see every week!

As I stated.. The guy is obviolusly not perfect. Yes. I do believe people can change. The failure to believe such a thing is extremely close minded IMO.

Contrary to popular belief, there are some things about him that I don't care for. I stated them. That said, there are a number of players both past and present that I have had little issues with here or there. Yet still, at the end of the day, they wore the star and while they have it on I will root for them. TO is no exception. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. Start a hate thread. Field a love thread. If you don't like it exercise your freedom of chocie and fail to click the link. ;)

I agree with half of this. He hasn't been nearly as 'cancerous' as I expected; nothing compared to the way he was in San Francisco and Philly. However, he hasn't been as dominant as he was with those two teams either.

Indeed. I agree he has not been as dominant. I wish I knew enough about the systems they ran while he was in the other two locations (esp San Fran) to know whether or not it's the system that's holding him back. I believe they ran the WCO in SF. Correct? Doesn't the rat run the WCO? If so get him in here pronto.

So we go to a WCO because of TO a 35 year old WR?

Maybe something in Dallas will validate my ridiculous claim. I love those that say "Well lookie what he did in San Fran. Lookie what he did in Philthy!!"

ZZZ... There is no fire where you're blowing this smoke.

The moment you're able to really look beyond your hatred for one player you'll realize the other 52 players on the team that are just as accountable as the person you like to poke pins into all day long. Until you realize that one player cannot influence 52 others, you will continue to feed into the negativism instigated by the phoney media machine that is BSPN and fill this board with lame threads that serve no purpose. Some might call this thread "lame/serves no purpose". Everyone is entitled to an opinion. You know what they say about those...

TO, like many others on this team, wants to win. His desire to win is often placed on display the media as they search for that next headline making photo op. The criticism is over the top and that pink elephant everyone is looking for in Dallas must have been retained in San Fran or Philthy.

The purpose of this post is not to convince anyone to suddenly find their hidden love for TO. It is to simply point out that he hasn't been half as bad as some would like and has actually been just as good, if not better, than others expected. As the old saying goes, he is what he is. That's a primadonna WR that loves him some him and loves to score TDs. For the most part, that's 70% of the WR at this level. His play on the field speaks for itself even under the constraints of a offensive coordinator that lacks basic creativity. His conduct off the field hasn't been anywhere close to what should be considered worthy of your intense hatred...

Feel free to do what you do. You know my flame retardant suit is always on. I've said my piece. :starspin
I'm with you, I like Owens and I think he's a benefit to this team, not a burden.

People say "he's a cancer" but when pressed to say what, they either bring up SF/PHI, or can't say anything. Everything that has concerned him, he's come out and spoken honestly about it; fight with Witten? he talked about it, nobody disputed him; meeting with Garrett? he talked about it, nobody disputed him.

So he's not the "just shut up and play" type... IMO, leaders are vocal, not silent. He helps the younger players and is an example for others to follow in his preperations in the off-season and during the week during the season.

But nobody gives him credit for the positive things he does and so far in Dallas, his positives far far far far far outweigh any negatives (honestly, I can't think of any).

I was just curious...

In essence we would go to a WCO to kick start Romo and get all of our WRs a little more invested in the passing game. This wouldn't just be for TO... Remember, Romo had trouble getting the ball to a number of receivers.

Personally I would like to see this offense become a bit more run oriented considering the RB we have on this team than to continue being a bit of a pass happy team. I think when you have 3 young RB in Barber, Felix Jones and Choice it makes sense to me to use them to the fullest. Garrett himself played in an offense with Dallas who did just that

I agree... but only for the simple fact that we have more than a few playmaking WR's.... it would allow that(WR's) to work in this offense.

Because... obviously we cannot execute this offense just throwing to them with out any "jabs"(running game)

True I would rather have fewer passes but more effective passing game and I think being a dominate running team will do just that. I also think it helps build a tougher mentality for an offensive unit knowing they are going out and attacking the defensive line not falling back into protection.

Can you please share with me T.O.'s "far, far, far" positives in some tangible way?

I mean, has he done anything to advance this team further than it has gone without him?

HAHA

Its only 6 days into new year and we agree... AGAIN!

I have taught many along the way in this life ;)

Back to the post...

Agree. Tougher mentality. What we see happen all too often is the pass happy teams/offense gets punched in mouth or they get taken out of rhythm and cant fall back on running game thats not there.

Very true, Garrett should know he played in it as a Cowboy.

X-rays don't lie; he is indeed a cancer. Prognosis: 10 months, maybe less.

:lmao2: Even I can see the humor in that. We're going to have to endure a couple of years of Chemo. We'll be fine witrh him floating around in there until the Chemo runs its course. ;)

I think one of Garrett's problems is that he's a former QB and still has a QB's mentality. Dallas has 3 solid RBs next year, any of whom could be the starter. It'd be foolish to not design a game plan that revolved around the run game and the abilities of those 3 players as they can be just as dangerous as receivers as they are as runners.

the Giants won the Super Bowl last year mostly passing the ball. So what did they do in 2008? They cut the number of passing attempts and upp'd the number of rushes. Ok, so part of it was 2nd half leads, but they definitely showed a committment to the run AND it looks like the offense adjusts to each runner's different abilities (power inside for jacobs vs pulls/sweeps to take advantage of ward/bradshaw's speed).
