I don't like the history of older RBs. Combine that with the 400+touches in a year history and thats why I didn't want Murray back on a big deal. I could live with the 5m/year contract but more than that and I would be out.

oh, I don't want a mega-deal for him...I love the guy on the field, in the locker room and off the field...I won't lose any sleep if he leaves for the $8m+/yr from someone....but, I really feel like his price is about to start declining a little the more teams are shying away from him...Indy is out, Philly just signed a RB....

This DeMarco Hardy guy is a hell of a player, and a must sign.

If they don't get him, Greg Murray is a must add. Versatile guy.

If, by quirk of fate, neither are available, they have to move heaven and earth to get Murray Hardy. He's an amazing accountant.

I would like to sign up for your newsletter sir. :D

Why not just draft a RB. I don't understand why people want to over pay for Murray. He's coming off his best year at 27 and only year he's stayed healthy all year. Happens to be a contract year. Sorry but I don't want to over pay for a RB with that history.

Let's get to Hardy. Why? Has he ever gotten over 13 or 14 sacks? He's coming off a suspension year and has maybe 1 or 2 good years left. I'm sorry but I'm done over paying for Free agents. Look at the best teams in the nfl. They are built not bought.

The Patriots bought Revis and Browner and it got them a super bowl.

The Seahawks bought Avril and Bennett and it got them a super bowl and to another.

Great teams build a strong core and then add key pieces to get over the top.

This made me feel better about the team only because I burst out laughing and who doesn't like that?

Well that's almost as bad as thinking all holes to be filled in free agency. Go figure.

Never said that. Always been a bit of both.
Not losing a bunch of guys, a talented Rb and signing no one.

He isn't but how many games is he going to play? How much he'll cost? Do you know? And he's one player.

I hear ya. But let me know if any of these names ring a bell: Kavika Pittman, Shante Carver, Ebenezer Ekuban, Greg Ellis, Anthony Spencer. None have had the seasons Hardy have and were drafted in 1st or 2nd round.

This offseason will be a failure IMO. Period. Either we should have signed Murray to "keep the band together" on offense, or we used the money we saved by not paying him to get the only difference-making DE left on the market, Hardy. If we lose both, what was the plan? Just rest on the laurels of a 12-4 season and make no serious effort to get better on D, or stay the same on O?

Lol, the entire offseason will be a failure?

I understand the rational but don't agree with it.

I have been saying for a while now that they should sign a DL in free agency so they could open up the draft to taking the BPA, so that's what I'd like to see happen... but if they don't sign Hardy and Murray leaves, I'm certainly not calling it a failure.

I know people are tired of hearing about last year's offseason but at this time last year, people were calling it one of the worst offseason's ever. Losing Ware and Hatcher and just signing Mincey made fans lose their minds a year ago. The angst being shown this year is mild compared to it.

There are players out there that can be had besides Hardy. Sheard, Nick Fairley, Adrian Clayborne, Derrick Morgan, Michael Johnson, etc. Any of them could help the team. Micheal Johnson is just the type that Marinelli can do a lot with, if he isn't wanting too much money. If Dallas gets Morgan and Johnson to replace the two weakest links among the DE's, I would not consider the offseason a failure. I'm not sure I wouldn't rather have those two for probably less than Hardy will sign for.

As for Murray... I'm not saying I know I'm right... but I think he will be replaced without too much trouble. We shall see though, I believe.

So, if Dallas signed Morgan and Johnson and then Drafted Gurley or Gordon, you would still consider the offseason a failure? I know I sure wouldn't. And that is just one possible solution to the problem of what will the team do if they don't sign Murray or Hardy. There are too many ways the team can go to call that one possible direction as the only way to success.

THis off-season so far is a failure in my eyes already...MURRAY looks like he is walking...losing D players left and right and JJ is sitting on the sidelines.

Murray wasn't overrated a few days ago, but he sure is now. Love the guy, but we're going to get similar production for a lot cheaper.

When you are 12-4 and have a QB with a 2-3 year window, it is moreso won in free agency. I agree that the draft is how you build your team. But free agency is how you push it over the top to push for super bowl

I know this is a way to look at FA
but you #1: have to be lucky in FA
so many times FA dont preform at
high level and there are certainly
good examples of excellent FA acquisitions;
There are more examples of big misses
#2, is the over paying

JJ gets criticized for gong big in FA, and gets criticized when he lets teams overpay for players.

He really can't do anything right by the fans.

Murray is visiting Philly tomorrow. He wants a bidding war and Dallas should just part ways now.

Only fan boys would think that losing a bunch of guys and not being able to sign your franchise WR makes you better.

This team is worse than it was at the end of the season. Things could change but I doubt it. Too bad.

I'll give you the pats but bennett wasn't a big deal when they first brought him in. Those are really the only 2 they brought in them draft the Rest.

Im fine bringing in a few mid level guys but to over pay is stupid.

Sheard signed with NE

Michael Johnson got cut a year after signing a huge deal....If that doesn't scream red flag I don't know what does. I'm going to go out on a limb and say he's lazy and the exact opposite kind of guy Marinelli wants.

Clayborne- Meh, if he's the 2nd best d line signing we make I'd be happy, but he certainly isn't fixing the pass rush.

Derrek Morgan- seems like he would be a good pass rush addition, but he hasn't managed 7 sacks in a season yet. Also doesn't bring much to the table at all in the run game. I'd take him because beggers can't be choosers, but I see him as a pretty big risk signing depending on the $.

I highly, highly doubt we pay Fairley big $ to play 1 tech for us. I'd be absolutely shocked.
