I don't disagree with you that Baltimore is a better team. we absolutely know that now and we all felt we lost talent this off season.
My point was in regards to Joneses complaint of not having money for Henry, when there is 23M in cap. when we are middle of the pack in spending. when we are 26th in dead money. so there was money. there was money to sign impact DTs and we chose not to, rolling dice with Mazi and whomever.

and the next three years don't look bad for cowboys as we are 10th in cap space in 25 and 123M in cap space in 26. yeah yeah yeah we don't know how many under contract and so on, but that's every team. and contracts get restructured and structured properly, not like going to the last hour literally before the first game of the season to sign a contract.

and every team operates this way....they sign FAs, their own or available, they make good drafts and they compete. and at some point, the team gets old, you have to rebuild and you cut the players and have a huge couple of years of dead money and go through it again. the fact that we are 26th and only have 22M in dead cap tells me they don't like to cut players, they keep them until end of their contract to minimize double paying.

and there are now 9 QBs that make 50M or more. 16 that make 40M or more. its the NFL Market, in the top 10 of QB salaries they all are making disproportionate percentage of the cap money. its not unique to the cowboys.

and Jerry is absolutely ecstatic right now. we are all over the news. we are talk of NFL. we are front page....he once said, as long as the cowboys are on the news he is happy, doesn't matter if its good or bad.
Jerry wasn't going to spend on a RB, when he's spending over 90m of CAP per year on a passing game....I don't think Henry would of picked us over Baltimore.
As for future CAP, you need to factor in who's contracts are up....Micah and Tyler (who's probably going to get good/ v good LT money on the market), then add Bland and our 2025- 27 CAP's just been decimated and that's before RT, RG, RB, WR2, TE, DT (x2).
The QB 'Market' isn't the question, it's whether that QB has the tool's to deliver, unfortunately Dak needs too much (weapons, running game, protection and run defense).
Saying all that, yep, Jerry's delighted, him Dak and France.....all raking in money....not success

Yeah but what was the point of giving him a mega deal at the midnight hour?

Let him play a year to prove his worth. He would’ve had more incentive to ball out and prove the haters wrong.

Now he’s hurt and will be sitting at home getting stupid money for doing nothing. No more sene of urgency from Dak.
because they couldn't tag him, and next season he's gone to the highest bidder. and they'd be left with nothing. might have been the right decision, but ultimately it was to avoid that.

i just cant believe Dak isn't doing well given:

We are next to last in rushing defense, next to last in scoring defense, dead last in red zone defense, and dead last in rushing yards a game. There are soooo many qbs that could step into these circumstances and thrive. just don't understand at all why dak is struggling compared to last year.
So why compound matters and spend $240M on a QB that needs all of the above to be going his way ?

but that's stupid. right...to think I spent this much money on passing, therefore I am demanding it to be the best thing and totally ignore another part of football. smart GMs, balance the roster properly. they understand how it all fits together. pay 90M to QB and WR...no, pay them 120M, then negelect OL and Running game and depth at WR and demand for it to be great!!! that's stupid. that's our GM
Henry seriously considered cowboys, was asking for an offer and wanted to stay in texas where he lives and trains in off season.

and all of those players fit under the cap, if you know how to structure contracts and how to manage the cap. Jerry doesn't know. how did eagles hand out so many top 5 contracts? and are competitive. if you ain't spending money on FA, either your own or in the market, then you better freaking hit it in the draft and 23, 24 have been down right awful drafts.

all of this is on jerry's mismanagement of the football team as a GM.

and outside of Mahomes, perhaps burrows and Allen in that second tier, all the other QBs have question marks on ability to deliver, yet here we are...market for all the QBs for question mark is 50M and up for at least 10 of them. you can't tell me none of them are without questions....its the market...it is what it is. again, all except mahomes who is generational...meaning no one like him for a generation. multiple decades type of difference maker at QB, all of them need help. Allen struggled without help. Burrows is struggling a bit. Lawrence, struggling and so on. Jackson has never made it and has an abysmal post season record. he is definition of regular season champ.

Jerry is an idiot GM, but brilliant marketing and business man...period.

He would have still got paid. I mean Cousins blew his foot out and still got paid. It’s the NFL
Maybe like everybody else once Dak got out of Dallas he's suddenly an All Star... Why would anybody want to come or to stay here as a player is beyond me. Taking the money aspect out....

At least not by us and we don’t have to be tied to 4 years, Jerry will be forced to retool and start fresh

But you've seen the product that is now Dak.

Can't run, weak arm, lost the team, and wide-eyed stares at the end of games on the bench.

That's who he is now, and it will only decline sharply downward from here.

And he's owed a king's ransom.

This team won't get straightened out until the 2030s.

If then.
Yep....I said 6-7 years minimum on Sept 8th. Kind of like 9/11....I sure remember EXACTLY where I was when I heard the fateful news.

Imagine if Dallas let Dak play out this season before discussing his contract....

We're 3-5, looking really hard at a 5-6 win season at most. Dak is hurt for several weeks and is playing like junk.

What would his market be in 3 months?

Instead, he has a $240 million deal at $60 per year that doesn't begin until the 2025 season.

With this level of negotiation skills, how did Jerry ever get wealthy? I know, I know, one day he was out shooting food, and up from the ground came a bubblin' crude.
Lots of us were begging for that here and called haters, fake fans, and worse

You it’s crazy just how much talking heads on media looking for sound bites and clicks are more represented by the avg fan than coaches and hog players that love dam prescotts game. Case in point Gilman and what he said. Literally said Dallas has we who run lazy and sloppy routes. If u watch the game u can see it clearly. You see what he means when he said if the we isn’t getting the ball he’s not running a good route. And you see it every game with these guys. The greatest coach ever in Belichick is one daks biggest fans. I think fans take their opinions too serious in fan forums and we think we know what’s going on. But when u listen to ex coaches and players like Aikman you realize that u really don’t know much about how the game is played on the field pre snap to the time the balls snapped. We don’t know the first read, we don’t know the disguise the def runs until it’s pointed out. We don’t know the blocking scheme and which side they’re focusing on.

Oh my gawd. What? I can't make sense of any of that.

Dak is a garbage quarterback at this point. It's painfully obvious, and he's in steep decline.

It was media and fans. Not many fans on here, as you are all haters but the rest of the real world was screaming about it.

He would hit the market as a true and complete free agent, in his prime, and would be $60mm plus a year. Without hesitation.

How bad is Dak gonna be after this injury? He clearly regressed after the last one.
