If Parsons wants 30 million per year are you paying him?

I think you have to re-set the QB position salary wise if you are paying him that much. You can not pay the QB $40M and Parsons $30M+ and expect to be a SB contender.
And Diggs will want 20....Lamb wants his...and you still have Martin's deal...it's not pretty.

Would you resign him for that amount? I have a feeling thats what he is going to be asking for. Lets also assume he continue to play like he has played up until now.
The man produces for real and is a force to be dealt with in big games. Guys like that deserve to be paid. AND he is the one of the best at his position.

He’s a generational talent.. you pay those guys. Much better with him than without him.

How do you replace an LT, JJ Watts or Arron Donalds? He's a special/generation talent. You don't let that type of player walk. You build around them. I said in another thread, at this point, I honestly believe Jerry and Stephen would let Dak walk before losing Parsons, and it may come to that.

BTW ....the answer to OP's question is yes! easy
Jerry and Stephen will never let Dak walk…

Uhh, yeah. He's as good as prime Von Miller/Aaron Donald and can rush from multiple positions. He makes the defense go.

As long as he continues to play like he has and or improves.
Just don't need him turning into a Roy Williams Safety situation.
Which I don't think he will go the Williams route where it seems like
he just did not have the desire for it anymore.

You catch on fast!!

Its a new question genius. LOL

Just trying to figure out how far you would go. If your scared dont answer it.
There's a salary cap, so obviously there is a necessary limit to what you can pay, even for Parsons.
30-35 million-per-year is probably what it will take and I'd do that for Parsons since he is such a unique talent.
Wouldn't go more than that. Like I said, he's as good as prime Miller/Donald, so you pay him a huge deal.

Parsons 35 million, Lamb 30 million, Diggs 25 million. Would you pay all of them?

If Jerry cant win with these guys on rookie deals he's screwed after these guys get paid. LOL

Were so screwed. No way Jerry can put a team together with all these guys getting huge paydays.
Yeah, we got somewhere around a 2 year window. At some point the Cowboys have to shed big contracts. They can't just keep adding them. It would also be nice if the cap grew a little faster.

Its almost to the point where the first round has to be reserved for the highest paid positions. WR, CB, DE, QB, LT

And you just keep rotating most of those in every 5 years. Keep one or two and trade most of the others for draft picks and just keep drafting.

If you can get a first for Diggs minimum, then trade him. If you can get a 1st and 3rd for Lamb minimum trade him. Use these picks to pick the next guy. Its a strategy. Thoughts?

I agree on the positions. That's what makes the most sense. It's a solid strategy in theory. Because along with your late pick, you may have a higher pick through a trade as well. I like the idea because you can't just keep paying all of them. The problem we have is I think we need a better GM to manage that.

Yeah, I probably would trade either Diggs or Lamb if they can bring in a first or more. We also have to consider this year's draft, and who's available. Again, that's the GMs job.

Yes, i will
because Micah would have met same market value ala TJ Watt..and the NFL salary cap will be escalated higher.
Likely 5th year option.

Then tag + tag.

He will be in his 8th year by then.

Worn out.

If he is producing then yes.. yes and yes. Dude is a legit talent.

Should be the highest paid player on the team but that is not how it works.. but still, Parsons is a guy you build a whole defence around. Keep at all costs.

Ok, this is something that a lot of people seem to get wrong. I'm one of them, until someone else educated me. Letting him play 5 years and tag tag is not ideal. In fact, it's worse than an extension. It costs more money in regard to cap hits.

Take the Zeke contract everyone loves to trash. He played 7 years for the Cowboys and had 1 big cap hit. He got an extension. Had they not done that and tagged him twice he'd have 2 big cap hits. Sometimes an extension, even though ill advised, can be better against the cap.
