If Parsons wants 30 million per year are you paying him?

He is a generational talent. Franchise him once even twice in the future. Let's just worry about this season.

He’s could be a generational player ….he’ll set the market. No issues with it.

Two years ago T.J. Watt signed a 4 year, $112,011,000 contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers, including a $35,593,470 signing bonus, $80,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $28,002,750 per year.

I don't know if you sign Parsons to $30M per year or not, but the starting price is going to be north of what TJ got.
In all fairness TJ has a better record than Parsons , also if you use Parsons as a pure pass rusher only , his body wont hold well, he gives up 50-60 pounds easily going against the OL.
Again when the time to resign comes he would have some wear and tear , injury risk etc. In my honest opinion Parsons( or agent) shouldn’t ask TJ money as they will be disappointed.

This is why I have this could come down to either Dak or Parsons.......

Look at this way.......,..would you let Deion Sanders or Randy Moss walk? That's the kind of talent we are talking about here........
LOL, Dak or Parsons...hmmmm , lemme see... easy answer. That's like comparing cow tongue to filet mignon. If Jerry picks Dak, then you can use the cow tongue to slap him in the face. Parsons is the shiny object Jerry needs on this team to remain credible.

I keep hearing this generational talent .They keep running him into 300 plus pound guys on a regular basis and he's going to generationally age in dog years and be wore out.

We can already see the signs of what is happening trade him at the height of his value before he gets paid and turns into the linebacker version of Zeke Elliott.

Dude is like 2-3 years away from it, your going to look at way more than 30 mil by then. There is already some players who are hitting that # already. Only way you let him walk is if you want him to have a chance to win a Superbowl (Like Ware)

They probably use the 5th year option.

Then tag for 2 more .

That takes him to year 8.

He will be worn out by then.

Not even close to being true. In 2025 They only have 15 players on the books and have over 185m in cap space.
Sounds good....BUT...those 15 players are headlined by: Tyler,......Wilson and Gallup. Cap space should be viewed in conjunction with your competitors ability to spend.

3 years is a long way away

The cap is going up big time

Parsons is a generational talent

There is no way on this earth Jerry let's him hit the open market
As the cap goes up, soul will the amount the player wants. I would trade him if we had a need for two excellent players.

I get it and if you get an incredible deal it makes sense but the chances are likely we won't. Also, hard to trade away a potential defensive player of the year.

But the bottom line is it's Jerry who is making the decision and you know how he values his own...Jerry sees second contracts as a reward not an incentive

Agree that if we allow ANY of our players hit the free market, they're gone, by the very fact we dont have the CAP to compete in Elite FA. However, we should make ,the admittedly difficult decision, of evaluating players, future production and weigh that against potential recuperation in the trade market.....that's what we failed to do with Zeke (and paying good players elite money).

The Pats, and more recently Eagles, success is based on evaluating and turning over the talent, then again we have the 'need' to be relevant in every season. For me go ALL-IN and 2023 and 2024 (behind Dak, CeeDee, Diggs and Micah) and seriously consider breaking up the band and listening to offers for all of them.

I agree and that ties to my point about how Jerry sees 2nd contracts or has seen them in the past...too much looking at what has been done and not enough on what can still be done or what value can be extracted ala the pats reference

Is that you, Micah?
Nope. Not Micah. I just think this is the silliest debate I’ve heard in a while.

I understand people worry about the cap. But we are talking about a dominant player. One of the very best in the league. They don’t grow on trees.

I just thought the joke worked well with your AV and name. Given your comment. But I agree. He's not tradable IMO. Not replaceable.

I don't think Parsons is the guy you try this with, however, I do believe the Cowboys should be more open to exploring trading players either in their walk year or with two years left on a deal to net a couple of high draft picks and save money on the cap. Parsons I wouldn't be shopping around, but if some random team decided to get aggressive and offer up 3 1st round picks it becomes awfully hard not to explore the possibility.

The last sentence is (after being obsessed with giving 2nd contracts), is Jerry's biggest weakness.... he thinks by instigating trades puts him in a vulnerable position, I suppose it's why we need a proper GM.
