Part of that is because Manning has already won a ring. That gets you some grace with the media and some fans.

It might not be fair but that's how the NFL works.

If that had been the first time Manning had been in the Superbowl and had thrown that costly pick I assure you that he'd have been getting the business from the media right now.

I saw that too. I like Manning, but to say he is the greatest ever and to utter that he's better than Montana is simply foolish. And a lot of experts were saying that the past two weeks.

You know.. I like Manning ALOT but what I saw last night was a blast from the past to when Belichek used to own him(on last 2 series). I still think he is the best ever at alot of QB "things" BUT he choked yesterday and the frustrating thing is that Addai was running for big chunks and Manning was hitting WRs at will with defenders no where in sight. So he just tried to force it and didnt take what they were giving him.

a double move there and Manning is sacked.
I don't recall him being under pressure when he made the throw. Of course, it was an immediate throw, so it's impossible to say one way or the other. The Colts were picking up their blitzes all night long, so I certainly wouldn't just assume that they would get pressure off a blitz.

And the Colts Superbowl run when they did win it was in spite of Manning.

Manning was exceptional against the Patriots in the AFC Championship, the only close game they had.

Manning has played some real stinkers in the playoffs, but he's also had some of the greatest games in playoff history.

Easy to say it should have been a double move after you know the corner jumped the hot route.

Before Peyton won a Super Bowl, I said he would never win because the Colts design the offense around him. I don't think a quarterback alone can win a Super Bowl for you. I think you need to rely on the running game. Teams that rely strictly on their quarterback can be dissected in the post season.

But Manning suppressed his desire to throw the ball and leaned on the run game during their Super Bowl run.

I think Manning reverted to putting the game on his shoulders. I think he was hearing too much about his legacy and that got to him. The Colts should have been more patient running the ball, IMO. I think departing from the running game and putting it in the hands of Manning to throw to a gimpy Wayne and relying on two rookie receivers was the Colts undoing.

Manning led a comeback if I remember correctly. The Colts were behind by double digits and it was looking like same old Pats beating same old Colts. Then Manning got in a zone.

He was not EXCEPTIONAL the entire game.

I think fans forget that before Manning won the big one, he was getting as roundly criticized as Romo. The knock on him was he couldn't win the big one. Romo is gettingthat same criticism, primarily because he is good and he plays for the Cowboys.

He has shaken one tag - not being able to win in the playoffs. But if he doesn't win the Super Bowl, he's going to get the same criticism as Peyton did.

Again, Peyton Manning has more skins on the wall then Tony Romo so he won't be criticized as much.

You always get more leeway when you have accomplished more then someone else.

This is how the entire "world" works.

You make the call on an option route based on where the corner and safety are playing before and during the route.

That he jumped it after it was thrown had nothing to do with it.

So much the better. His 2nd half was one of the best you'll ever see.

They scored 38 points and came from 3 scores down to beat the team that had tormented them the whole decade. I think that qualifies as exceptional, any way you want to parse it.

The turning play of the game was the drop by Garcon... Garcon catches that ball, it would have been 17-0, and we would most likely be looking at a blow-out. The Colts lost because of stupid plays. The onside kick hit their man in the hands. The Colts went 3 and out to end the half, allowing the Saints a field goal. Peyton's stupid pass.

to say it would have been a TD if they would have made a double move after you saw the play is a pretty easy call.

Whatever. Corner was playing short, inside. No safety over the top. Colts had not went deep to Wayne all night, and the Saints were playing accordingly. Few corners would have a chance there if Peyton and Wayne go over the top.

Sorry if that's not obvious to you, but it should be.

If Romo threw that pass, I would be telling you the same thing I am telling you about Peyton. It was Reggie Waynes Fault. Terrible Route on a timing play. He came out of his break so slowly it was ridiculous. If he ran his route correctly there is no I N T.

And this observation shouldn't be lost on Cowboys fans. A game isn't always decided at the last minute but on a pivotal play well before the two minute warning.

See Patrick Crayton drop in the 2007 Giants playoff game. :(
