And that is not the fault of Witten, Romo, Miles, Spencer, etc. Not to mention key injuries thrown in.

Go ahead and think this team sucks, I will hold out hope yet.

Didn't say the team sucks.. Just not good enough to beat SF, Seattle, ATL.

I'll ask you again, how many people thought the Ravens were a Super Bowl Contender? Because 7 months ago all I heard was how the Ravens were old and had deadweight and Flacco can't win the big game. Its not that I think this team is a Super Bowl. Its that I simply don't know and neither do you Mrs. Cleo.

Mrs Cleo doesn't hope and wish. The reality of the state of the team is enough and the reality is that the Cowboys are not the Ravens, Giants etc. There is a big difference.

Any pick received from the 49ers is not likely to be a high pick in the round in which it is selected. Austin is a good player when healthy. If Danny Coale produces what he promises he could take Austin's place but that is all speculative, Generally speaking a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. Without a valid replacement on hand it would be foolish to trade Austin for a low pick -- and that is what any pick received would be.

:)

And you know this how? Come on, bro! You have no idea what this team is going to look like this season. New coaches, new players, new scheme, etc.

The team could be better or they could be worse, but don't make a statement like that...it's just...lazy!

There's just no way you can know that. The game isn't played on paper, and you know the game well enough to know that past performance is a poor indicator of future performance.

Now you may eventually be proven right, but unless you have a crystal ball, that call can't be made yet.

To use SF as an example, just two years ago at this point, nobody thought they'd go 13-3 and get to the NFC title game.

Yes, it would be approximately a 10M cap hit this year which would put them over the cap.

Amazing how many people here simply sound off without having a clue of what they're talking about. Page after page of comments without hardly a mention of the cost of such a trade.

The 10M is close, but not accurate.

Trading Austin would accelerate $10,605,000 in prorated signing bonus money. But that would be offset a little by not having to pay his 2013 base salary of $3,589,400. Total cost of this hypothetical trade to the Cowboys: -$7,015,600

That trade is not going to happen.

No, probably not given the cap situation.

I thought they were a Super Bowl contender. Maybe not one of the favorites, but definitely a contender.

We're not at that level.

In a heartbeat. This is what smart organizations would do. But Jerry, bless his hearts still believes this team is talented enough to win the Super Bowl this year so it will not happen.

I agree. We can also load up on picks and move up in the draft next year.. Clowney, Bridgewater, Taj Gibson..
Do you honestly believe Jerry thinks beyond the here and now?

This thread is so typical of this place. Somebody comes up with a ridiculous scenario that would never even be considered by the "proposed hypothetical" team and its off to the races with the Jerry bashing and other nonsense.

What sane person would even think that SF would want Miles? Seriously, this is just absurd at best. And then think they would give up a 2nd round pick?

And we get 6 pages of replies to this lunacy set forth in the OP. :bang2: :bang2:

Would you rather talk about some undrafted free agent that is probably not going to make the roster or the new long snapper.. Just something to talk about between the draft and training camp void..

I agree. It's not something that's worth getting upset over. Besides, I don't think Miles playing for the 49ers is absolutely absurd. It's unlikely, but not absurd.
