That was the first name that came to me.

edit: If it's a Cowboy, I'll take the 1977 version of Harvey Martin.

One thing though - Martin had 23 sacks that season when offensive linemen were not allowed to block open handed. That rule went into effect in 1978.

Martin did not approach those numbers after the rule change.

I would add Michael Irvin. His leadership, passion and fire, not to mention toughness, would be a boon to this team.

If I were to add a defensive player, it would be Jerome Brown, believe it or not.

Why would you say that? With the Cowboys in a 2 game slide and having to come from behind in games Roger would be better suited for that situation.

Because Aikman played in this exact kind of offense as a pocket passer and won 3 superbowls. He was deadly off of playaction pass, would love to see the numbers he'd put up with these receivers and in this era of passing offense.

Suppose the Cowboys could bring back any player in its history to play for the rest of the year in his prime. Who would help and benefit the team the most?

I'd take Troy Aikman. Cut Weeden and give Troy the backup roll.

I think last week definitely proved if the Cowboys need anything it's a competent backup quarterback.

So I'd say Jason Garrett!

I'd probably have to go defense, and considering we have lots of DTs, I'd most likely go with Charles Haley in his prime. No way id go with Ware unless we return to the 3-4.

However, I would sure be tempted to see what Tony Dorsett would do behind this OL.
