If the Giants go on to win the Super Bowl...

Ergo, Cowboys = Packers.

Ahh. We are not bad as I thought.

Look, I'm a big Tony Romo fan, but there's no two ways about it:

Eli Manning's actual accomplishments are more valuable than Tony Romo's hypothetical accomplishments.

We can sit here and talk about would have could have should have all day, the simple fact of the matter is that Eli is playing in another conference championship game while we're stuck trying to convince ourselves that Carl Nicks is the magical saviour for this team.

I like Romo, but you can't argue against facts with theories in the NFL.

I certainly agree with this. At some point, people should realize that Eli is a legitimate QB. I know it pains many of us Cowboys fans to say it, but the man has come up big. Yes, he has good elements surrounding him to support him, but give credit to the Giants' front office. Perhaps, if the Cowboys had a front office that makes sound personnel decisions to provide this team with enough impact players (and quality depth), then the Cowboys would be playing in the playoffs now.

Why not it is the truth. Aikman was great guess what he had a line that would allow him time to sit in the pocket and a defense that did not let the other team back in the game.

Some players have it, some don't. Romo had a great line in 2007, a great defense in 2009..nothing. This sounds like more excuses,,if Romo hasd this or that.. He will be gone from the Cowboys and people will still be saying it. I like Romo, time is running out.

Just last year people were saying Romo was better than Rodgers and I stated, wait until the playoffs are over and there won't even be a debate.

Yes some players have protection and some don't, it is a team game not a QB game if the SB went to the best QB based on the season Rodgers would be hosting the Saints this weekend. I make no excuse but I dame well know to get the most production out of any QB you must give them protection and we have failed to give that to Romo.

I'm not interested in saying who is better but part of what makes Rodgers great or Brees great or even Eli is the guys around him who give them the protection.

Take away the protection and they will all make mistakes they will have the costly turnovers. This is why defense stresses so much about getting after the QB and putting pressure in his face because if you do that then you will cause any QB to make critical errors. This is why a guy like Warner could look unstoppable with the Rams and even the Cards but looked like crud after that protection went away.

They will be the first 9-7 team to win it and some of us here would have to eat crow as I remember a thread saying that no 9-7 team has ever won a Super Bowl. I hope they don't win but I really don't know who I want out of the NFC. I can't stand the Giants but am surrounded by 49ers fan who think their team can do not wrong.

Pull for the AFC :laugh2:

That is what I'm doing

Eli is more than legitimate. He's Elite and should be in the same conversation as the Top 5 guys. Hell even Philip Rivers is no better than Romo at this point.

Perhaps I'm alone in this opinion, but I think the Niners have a decided advantage next week.

The build of the Niners is completely different from that of the Packers, with whom the Giants actually match up well. The Packers are a pass-only, high scoring team that relies on its offense to make opponent offenses one dimensional. This tactic actually works to the Giants favor, who boast a relentless pass rush.

The Niners are a defensive team that relies largely on its ground game. This will nullify the Giants' defensive advantage, and make it very difficult for Eli to sustain drives.

I'll just say this - there are discussions of " what if, if we, if only he had this....blah blah " and there are results. Is it all on the QB, no, but when evaluating a QB's career, people know if he won or not. There is no gaurantee that Romo does the thing as Eli with a better line and defense. Hmm, who build that defense and oline anyway? Regardless I hope Romo get's it done..time is running out.

You're not alone.

The 9ers' defense led the NFL in fumble recoveries, and their offense had the fewest turnovers in the league.

Yes in the end many people look at the results and make their grand statements. I look at why results happen. It is not hard to see how most of these team in the post season have played in terms of protection of the QB. If you think Romo offensive line stacks up then that clearly is a view most would not agree with you on. If you think this defense is playing to a high stadard who can shut a team down late in game when you grab the lead then again you and only a few handful would agree.

As for Romo yes I think he has top notch talent and to get the most out that talent the Cowboys must do a better job of giving him protection. You can sign the praises of Eli, Rodgers, Brady and Brees all you want but if you can't see how much better they do in protecting their QB then the only blind person here is you

Not saying he has better or adequate protection. I am saying , every year there seems to be some excuse and it will continue well after he retires unless.....

If that's the way you think, you need to tell me some more about you?

Like, what are the numbers for the Lottery next year?

Only losers think like that.

I know the Cowboys just research my posts from this past season. :toast: The Giants are a MUCH better team than the Cowboys anyone can see that we saw it during the regular season and now the Giants just went into Lambeau and beat up on a 15-1 Packers team. Philly proved during the season they're also a MUCH better team than the Cowboys and even though they had a disappointing year they finished strong. It's going to take a lot of the right moves this offseason and a lot better coaching for the Cowboys to even have a chance of competing with the Giants and Eagles next season. If Washington ever comes up with a QB who can play at a high level consistently that alone will make them a much better team and it may be enough to move them ahead of the Cowboys.

Washington gave the Giants more than they could handle twice this past season with Rex Grossman at QB. I think both the Giants and Eagles will win at least 11 games next season with one of them winning the division and the other taking a wildcard spot. The Cowboys are a disorganized team with an inexperienced HC who couldn't even manage the clock last season. The Cowboys showed no fire or passion in a game that had a playoff spot on the line in the season finale. The talent on the team is thinning out and the core players are aging. The Cowboys have a number of holes and are unlikely to fill them all this offseason.

We saw the same troubling trends with the team this past season that we've been seeing for years. It's the same crap every season they fade practically every Dec/Jan and they can't win critical games. The Cowboys looked better at the start of the season than they did at the end. They're a mediocre team that has no confidence or mental toughness. Until Jerry reaches the end of his rope and brings in a SOLID HC that isn't another one of his bobble heads and the team starts adding some QUALITY players that fit the scheme they're attempting the Cowboys will continue struggling at around 500.

Excellent point.

From the game today, most people will remember the performance of the Giants' defensive line and the relentless pressure they applied to Rodgers. And, admittedly, the performance was quite impressive and worthy of recognition.

However, equally impressive was the Giants' offense doing essentially anything it wanted to do. Manning converted third down, including third and long, at a ridiculous pace because his offensive line dominated.

A team can, to a point, manufacture pass rush with blitzing. It's far more difficult to manufacture pass protection.

Call it an excuse if you like I see it for what it is. I think Romo has the weapons in place I think to be able to utlize those weapons we need to give him protection. I think Tyron Smith was a big step in that direction and my hope is we can continue to move in that direction because if the playoffs show anything it is how important it is to winning. QB may get all the accolades but it is the big guys up front that allow it to happen

I dont disagree about getting a line. Hoepfully it gets better, defense can get fixed and one day Romo can hoist a Lombardi. I'm not holding my breath though

True. You can give the QB max protection but the you limit the targets he has to get the ball to. For the most part it is the work of the 5 guys up front who have to give the QB the time so that the WR can get in and out of their routs and give the QB the time to find his open man. When they fail to do that then the QB has to try to make the plays on the move. Now and then all have to do it but so many of these post season team do it on a reg basis in terms of protection. Even a great QB can look bad when you fail to give him time

With no pass rush and a crappy secondary, Rodgers would have scored a fifty burger on us today.

The difference in today's Giants and the end of the year Cowboys is their defensive line. They put a ton of pressure on Rodgers this week and Atlanta last week. Everything else feeds of off this.

We can't close out games, and if we were in the playoffs, we wouldn't be able to stop anyone.

I just hope Jerry is not watching and saying, "we are close, we had them by 12 and should of won." "We don't have to make any moves this off season because we almost beat the Giants."

I can't sit there and tell you 100% he will one day get it. I think he has the ability to get it and as a fan all I can do is hope he and this team do get it.

I don't see Romo as the problem for those who do I think they take a very narrow view of the QB position and what it takes to achive success it is not a 1 man game

that is what scares me. Jerruh going off on another one of those "we are close" rants and does very little this offseason
