Cutler would be a significant upgrade on this roster. Would welcome him with open arms.

This post is so unbelievably unrealistic....why bother posting it? Other than to be an ***...

Cutler has made some silly comments in the past however you can't help but understand how he feels about this situation... I mean you try and trade the guy and didn't inform him of it and then basically tell him to his face that yeah I'd try it again, am I missing something here or what??????
I would totally sympathize with Cutler if his mouth didn't make him look like an idiot dealing with his current situation. For what it's worth, I have zero sympathy for Denver front office for botching the whole thing. Clearly, they did not have a Secret Plan B in place in case Secret Plan A fell through.

They should be strongly criticized for leaving the door wide open to a very public backlash from their incumbent quarterback. Negative bean balls, which has or will develop from the debacle, should be thrown squarely at Bowlen and McDaniels. But with Cutler screaming off to the side in his own corner, "I'm a victim! Come pamper me! I'm a multimillionaire who won't be out of a job very long anyway, so I need some luvin'!", some should be thrown directly at him also.

I think that almost all young franchise QBs would be angry if they found out that they were being shopped around by their club ... and that most of them would end up saying something that would sound like whining.

I like how DallasEast put it ... about how Denver manangement had no Plan B in case Plan A fell through, etc.

Its obvious that Denver botched the whole thing. Even when they tried to give "their version" of the meeting they never disputed Cutler's version.

What's funny is that the Commanders desperately need a franchise QB (their fans are all drooling over the chance to get Cutler), but because they were already close against the cap even before they signed Haynesworth and Hall... they probably couldn't fit Cutler under the salary cap this year, even if they were willing to meet the Bronco's trade demands.

Source: Lions, Broncos will discuss QB Jay Cutler
by Tom Kowalski

According to a league source, the Detroit Lions will continue to talk to the Denver Broncos about the possibility of acquiring quarterback Jay Cutler in a trade.

Cutler's anger with Denver initially began when he learned that the Lions and Tampa Bay Buccaneers were involved in active trade talks. An effort to mend fences reportedly has done more damage than good.

In a story that was originally reported by NFL.com, the Broncos were in trade discussions a couple of weeks ago with Detroit and Tampa Bay. The Broncos wanted those teams to acquire Matt Cassel from the Patriots and then turn around deal Cassel to them in exchange for Cutler.

The Lions have plenty of ammunition to use in a deal, they have five draft picks in the first 82 choices in the upcoming draft. But more teams are expected to enter the bidding for Cutler.

Agreed. And minus an alternative explanation we're stuck with something that depicts them as complete dolts.

Would the Lions be so bold as to trade the #1 for Cutler? He's already a proven QB whereas Stafford is still an unknown.

I think they'd want the Broncos to throw in some of their picks as well, but I could also see the Rams showing interest.

My only issue with giving up the #1 pick is Cutlers Diabetes and his long term status.

As hard as it is to find young talent I would kiss that #1 pick goodbye if they trust his health issue isn't a longterm concern.
