Needs and concerns in the offseason:

Current needs and concerns:

- CB (due to injury)

Yea, complete whiff in this offseason. I’d argue we subtracted instead of added.
Isn't Peters the swing tackle now? Lamb and Brown haven't been that bad. Week link is cb, we will have to see how that goes. Maybe the new corner will be the answer.

What I hate the most is hearing our fat favorite son Executive VP wax on about “staying within the cap for future years” while teams passing us on the highway are saying, “Cap? We want to win NOW.”

…..and with the historic situation of Brady and Rodgers having their worse year in football, our co-GMS failed to recognize this and go all in. If there was EVER a year to mortgage the future because of the situation on the ground ….this was it.

on a positive note, this team never runs out of creative ways to grasp a loss from the clutches of victory. Shows a lot of initiative on their part

Yea, and he’s like 50.

Lamb is great, Gallup and Brown have been irrelevant. You need more than 1 if you want to compete in the playoffs.

Rambo I admire you for posting after yesterday's debacle.
I don't go with hot takes. They should have won the game. They still have 10 wins which is the 2nd best record in the NFC and they should beat Tampa in the playoffs.

We got no killer instinct
We have an entitled soft as Charmin culture.
Totally agree. That starts at the top. No one at the top is in danger of losing anything. Neither are the stars of this team. Instead of having a chip on their shoulder for the last 27 years, this culture fosters an attitude that they have already arrived. Don’t see a killer instinct or a serious drive for excellence. The owner is driven by relevance.

Yep.
And the future does not look bright either.
They have extinguished all hope.

True enough, but even “down and out Tom Tom Brady” is licking his chops awaiting to face his favorite punching bag known as the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys are the remedy for all of his ills

Yep we find bizarre ways to lose football games.
You can't make this stuff up.

Yep, this is not a mom and pop grocery store.
This is a highly competitive business.
You got to hire professionals.
But hey, we have the most valuable sports franchise.
Wahoo

The best part is the scramble we witnessed to sign Peters, Hankins and TY.

It’s the Jones admitting their incompetence but the problem is a bunch of has beens doesn’t move the needle.

Yep, I was on this board daily screaming for them to sign free agents this past off season.
What a freaking circus!!

Three games left. And the Cowboys are swooning in the same manner they did as last year. There’s plenty of blame to go around. Players, coaching staff, culture, etc. The usual suspects around here.

But if this team craters in the same manner as last year, I place a majority of the blame on the completely unaccountable front office who looks at the off season as a vacation on the yacht and looking at Will McClay’s scouting binders to select players for the draft.

While the GMs of teams winning playoff games are focused on winning now, Stephen Jones is focused on next years cap.

Our drafts have improved, but the use of Free agency to get better has not. The teams getting better in the off-season are led by young aggressive GMs whose jobs are on the line and

Hate to say it…but our chief divisional rival had a great off season. Their GM is the young and aggressive Howie Roseman. He had a fundamental understanding of what his team needed to get better. Look at his off-season moves compared to ours:
  • Roseman hired the young and aggressive Nick Sirianni as HC in 2021.
  • Roseman acquired WR AJ Brown in a trade, recognizing Jalen Hurts needed help to develop into a better passer. (Our FO cut Amari Cooper and replaced him with 3rd rd pick Jalen Tolbert, cheap FA James Washington- combined have 2 catches- both by Tolbert)
  • Roseman saw THIS SEASON as their year to make bold moves. (Stephen Jones is always worried about next year’s cap)
  • Roseman acquired LB Haason Reddick, an underrated player who has upgraded the eagles defense.(We signed DE Dante Fowler for a lot less- he has had almost zero impact)
  • In season, Roseman acquired Ndomincan Suh to upgrade their run defense (We acquired DT Jonathan Hankins for a 7th round pick. Not exactly bold.)
This could go on and on. The players, coaches and culture share some blame in Big D for underperforming. But it’s way more than that. The front offices of the better teams this year spent the off season saying, “We want to win now- what bold moves can we make?” Our front office says, “We want to win now BUT- we don’t want to hurt our cap for next year.”
*Sigh*

Cowboys were in a way different place than the Eagles were this past offseason.

Cowboys had a ton of FA to sign, they signed Gallup (which to me was too much for a guy coming off a knee but they like him), Schultz (Franchised- were not sure they wanted to committ and didn't have a great option if he left), LVE-(good bargain signing), Dorance (8 sacks on a couple of mill per year), Hooker (solid FS on a bargain), Kearse (one of the best TE coverage S in league, solid leader etc), Anger (good punter, pro bowler last year), redid Dlaw's deal (been amazing this year, I was totally against this move),

So when people say they didn't do anything, it is incorrect.

Then they went out and got Fowler (who you characterize as 0 impact, yet he has 5 sacks for a couple of mill?), James Washington who was a total miss, and grabbed Jason Peters (good solid OL to solidify T), and Barr (been a solid player but clearly not what he was).

The Eagles went and spent money to fill holes on their team. They needed a dynamic rusher, we already had one. They needed a good WR, we already drafted one. They had to go grab one bc they missed completely when we drafted Ceedee. They were able to be aggressive because they haven't had to sign a Franchise QB yet. That is now coming.

Our draft has been a home run, and it was always intended to do so as we are a draft and development team. Meanwhile, the Eagles drafted a rotational DL with the #11 pick and an undersized LB in the 3rd.
