If we got a 1st and a 3rd for Pickens

Dak was just fine without Pickens. He actually had his best season in 2023 with no Pickens. Stacking 2 top paid WRs works nowhere bc you can't build the roster depth required to compete with so much cap space going to WR. If we trade Pickens for a Waddle like package, then we could use one those picks on a WR to replace him on a cheap rookie deal.
Dak had his best year in 2025. Dak needs two good wide receivers to do well in passing.

Would the offense be better or worse if we used the 1st from Pickens to draft a top Left Tackle and a 3rd on the best available WR?

Then we could still use our other 2 first on defense.
At this point, with how lackluster our offseason was….if there was a good player still there on the draft with the pick we would get….id think about it. I would have preferred trade him for a know player like Maxx, but that ship seems to have sailed. The O wouldn’t be AS good, but in 2023 we had the top scoring O in the league, and that was with old Cooks as our #2. We don’t NEED a second stud Wr, we were better without one and having a pass rusher instead….5 wins and a playoff win better.
Some people seem to think we MUST keep Pickens or our O wouldn’t suck…..almost every team in the playoffs had either 1 stud WR or none lol, two stud WRs are not required, at all.

I've silently been a proponent for trading GP — I just don't think it happens. That would be a big move though, and it would get the brand in the media with headlines, so it's not out of the realm.

It is if he doesn’t get what he wants.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to have studs as every position, but resources are limited, if we could really improve our D in exchange for Pickens, and still have enough players to have a great O like in 2023…I wouldn’t cry if we moved him.

Offense better? Not this season, but the team, overall, would benefit with the extra draft picks. Not sure I'd use the gained picks as you proposed.
Because all the picks we’ve used in last 30 years has done what?
Maybe if we keep our good players, add some good FAs, and draft better than we usually do, we could win.

The problem is we lose good players, don’t sign any good ones, and so many are fooled by how they actually draft.

You have to give me 2 first rounders for Pickens. He's an All-Pro at a premium position and is only 25 years old. Sign Pickens otherwise, draft BPA and fill the defensive holes that may be left after the draft with vets.

I know we can use talent at LB but the off-season just started. Different DC and some of the players at the position are entering their second and 3rd years. Overshown 4th and should be 100% healthy. The injuries he got, nobody could get away from those. He outright plaid hard, well and got unlucky. By the way, he was a 3rd rounder. That's where teams get LB's round 2-4 and find good players and/or depth.

Sign or trade those 3rd's to multiple 5th's for some vet help or to move up and get the guy you want in that round.

Leave well enough alone, lad.

Actually…..his best year was 2023…more TDs, better %, less interceptions….and 5 more wins, plus 1 playoff win…..and that was with Lamb and then old Cooks as the number 2. People forget we had the number 1 scoring O in the NFL in 2023 without some stud #2 wr….instead of that we had a pass rusher…..and the records showed. We really don’t need Pickens….we still have Lamb and Ferg and a better run game than in 2023….basically that same players as back then (Flournoy might be better than Cooks at the time).

You get rid of a no 1/2 receiver depending on how coverage and injuries goes it becomes a top priority, and if you want to talk about a position with plenty of busts it's wr. You would have to go bpa with a great chance of first pick being best at wr position. 1st and a 3rd is not enough unless it's very early.

The only world where it makes sense to keep Pickens is the one where they bust the budget and go all in with a full rebuild in mind in 2 or 3 years when they move on from Dak and purge the roster of old contracts.

Why they are not doing considering the amount dedicated to Dak, their supposed faith in him, and his agr this is further evidence that this FO is incompetent

If Dallas trades Pickens for a 1st and 3rd pick do you really think they are closer to winning a SB. Jerry could use that first round pick to choose the next Mazi Smith, Tyler Guyton, or Taco Charlton. Who knows what they get with the 3rd round pick. Trading a bona fide stud WR for Jerry taking two swings in the dark doesn’t excite me.
Well stated. This is what some low brow Dallas fans don't understand. Trading a surefire stud for two unknowns chosen by the worst general manager in the N.F.L. is never a smart decision. I don't know why so many Dallas fans don't have the mental capacity to understand that.

There is no Howie Roseman in the Dallas front office.

Are we assuming Dallas hits on both? The last 3rd round WR drafted was terrible.

Prime free agency is over. All 32 teams are preparing for the draft and signing players to fill out the 90 players they can bring to camp. The balance of free agency now are players other teams have moved on from. When camp cuts begin there will be more guys to sign, but again it will be players teams have decided to move on from.

These are depth players. If they were the kinds of players that “move the needle” they would not be available. Prime free agency is, in fact, over. We can stop saying “the off-season just started”.:
