If we make it to the playoff in 2014, Are we super bowl legitimate contenders?

Probably not although I'd love to be wrong. We are one to two years away IMO. We do have a chance to be good next year if the D comes together. I don't know what the line is now but I'd say we are 30-50 to 1.

its still early... doesn't look like it, playoffs itself is a stretch.... but, we have the draft and camp to see what we really have. Possible

Making the playoffs will be very difficult. Unless the Cowboys pull off a truly sensation draft where they find two or three guys ready to start and play at a high level, this team will be the worse than any team the Cowboys have fielded in each of the last three seasons.

I have watched the Giants limp into the playoffs and win it all. If those bums can do it, we certainly can.

That being said....I don't think we make the playoffs.

yes, but you have to get in first...I see 10-6 if all of the chips fall right (i.e.: they stay healthy)...they get to the NFCCG and then who knows?

I know I lost of you guys have lost hope for this season. With the schedule coming out the rest of us (myself included) realized how REAL things just got. However IF Dallas wins the division and make it to the playoff could we be considered a real contender for the Super Bowl. I don't mean if we back our way in via the wildcard. But if the Cowboys win the NFC East, with their schedule would you consider them a contender to go to the Super Bowl and not just a case of dumb luck?

I would say yes because if that happened then our defense was better than we thought it could be and our offense was clicking. Having said that, the caveat would be if a couple key contributors got hurt at the end, say Romo, Witten, Dez. There is no one except Lee on defense, right now, that I think is so great that we can't replace them right now.

I think we are getting a little ahead of ourselves.

Last season we fielded one of the worst, if not the worst, defense in league history.

Our franchise QB is getting older and coming of back surgery.

We are on our third offensive coordinator in three seasons; our third defensive coordinator in three seasons.

We have more holes to fill than draft picks to fill them with, and limited cap space to boot.

And we still have two hobbyists calling all the shots at the draft.

At this point, I am just hoping to be .500 at the bye week.

People who see our schedule and throw in the towel early clearly do not know football.

Easy games end up being hard, harder games end up being easier, etc.

It is hard to predict the outcome regardless of how a schedule looks. It really annoys me when fans call it a lost season because of the schedule.

If this team wins the division by going say 10-6 or better and makes it into the playoffs with this particular schedule and we're relatively healthy going in? Then yeah I'd say it makes them contenders with those factors cause they would have had to be playing some pretty good ball all year long for those factors to fall into place.

That's a whole lot of ifs, however, and I don't like to deal with ifs.
