If we make it to the playoff in 2014, Are we super bowl legitimate contenders?

I know I lost of you guys have lost hope for this season. With the schedule coming out the rest of us (myself included) realized how REAL things just got. However IF Dallas wins the division and make it to the playoff could we be considered a real contender for the Super Bowl. I don't mean if we back our way in via the wildcard. But if the Cowboys win the NFC East, with their schedule would you consider them a contender to go to the Super Bowl and not just a case of dumb luck?

I don't think we will be superbowl contenders. facts are that we were ranked 32nd in the league defensively. facts are we lost 2 of the best players on the defense in hatcher and ware (which says a lot about them as well as what's left). we are not going to get good defensively that fast, to contend in the playoffs, which is where defense counts. so making it to the playoffs is nice. getting your feet wet. but at least another year away.

ROTFLMAO!!! We will never be legitimate SB contenders with Red at HC. HE has single handedly kept us out of the playoffs the last three year with atrocious clock management that has cost us at least two games per season. I doubt we sniff the playoffs this year but if we do sneak in, do you really think we can get past Frisco and Seattle who both have much better coaches and now have better rosters. We screwed around and wasted our best shots at another SB with a dang good roster and piss poor head coaching since Tuna left. Now we don't have the roster and are still stuck with the bad coaching.

Right now that is looking like a big fat no but sometimes a team can get lucky at the right time. If we draft well, stay healthy, and a few of the right players have great years then it is possible.

Predicting the NFL is crazy. There were some that predicted the Atlanta Falcons as a Super Bowl contender last year (or nor of them) and look what happened to them. In this day and age, things can change for the better or worse very quickly. Having said that, we need to see some serious improvement on defense before I can realistically consider us a Super Bowl contender.

I really don't know that Romo has what it takes to will the team to a Super Bowl. If we make it, it will be because he carried us.

This has always been my biggest gripe with Romo over the years. He doesn't use his "will" on the players around him, every Super Bowl winning QB has this special attribute where they can will players on their team to magically make great plays. For example, if he were like Russel Wilson he could've "willed" our defense to NOT let Denver put up 51 on us and cause us to lose. I mean c'mon Tony, Russel Wilson did it in the freakin Super Bowl, he willed his defense to only allow Denver to score 8 measly points ... 43 less points then you!

I have been on Good Ship Lolly Pop Bus for so many years predicting double-digit wins and playoffs (see my signature which desperately needs an update). But the ship has docked, the bus has flat tires, and I am no longer predicting success for this club - at least not this season.

I believe they will have double-digit losses, and I don't believe they'll sniff the playoffs unless they purchase tickets from a team that's going.

Having said that, if this team makes it to the playoffs, they'll be out before halftime. Heck, they'll be done before the coin toss.

I totally agree with you. I think we are in for a bad season, having to play against the NFC WEST and the additions our rivals made in free agency. I think we will be selecting in the top 10 next year.

The vast majority of our players would be backups in Seattle. So the odds of getting past Seattle are very slim, not impossible, but very slim.

So with that being said, I do not think there is any realistic chance of this team reaching the SuperBowl with this roster and this coaching staff.

there will have to be drastic Defensive improvement for us even get close to a division title or wild card spot i think six wins this season will be and accomplishment dependening on what the drafts nets us
