If we make the playoffs is there a point?

If you believe in the "get in and see what happens" fairy tale then there's a point. Of course, even with that sort of wishful thinking you still have to believe for whatever reason that teams who have had better seasons and who have played better all year will suddenly no longer play as well.

If Dallas doesn't play better there won't be any reason to think they can advance.

There's always a point. For one thing, just because another team has more wins doesn't mean they're currently playing well. Think about the Cowboys in some of their most recent playoff seasons. They racked up lots of wins early, but then started fading down the stretch and by the time the playoffs started they weren't so strong anymore, while another team, say for example the Giants, had started slow but got hot at the end of the season and went all the way. We have no way of knowing what will be happening by then, so why give up now? I believe we have a shot in every single game we play, until proven otherwise.

why isn't it great to watch your team play rather then not play

Look at the last tow Giant Super Bowl wins, came out of no where, were wild card teams. Anything can happen in the playoffs.

It doesn't say much for the team when fans have to hope anything can happen. It is hoping for luck.

Hey, I know it's an outside chance, and a remote one at that, but I will take it, and keep that little bit of hope alive. Always better to laugh than cry.

people want to believe in fairy tales.

The Giant win in 2011 and the Ravens win last year is touted by the fairy tale types but the reality is that both of those teams were more talented then ours is right now or will be the rest of the year. IT was not JUST that they got hot is that they had the basic talent to begin with.

With the state of our patchwork D and losing Waters we dropped below the minimum threshold of talent needed to win it all.

So you are saying the Cowboys would have no chance hosting CHI/SF/CAR??? Really??

Hosting has nothing to do with it. Winning is where I gave serious doubts. They may win one playoff game, which would cause some of the fanbase to jump for joy. Myself, I give them no chance of winning a string of games that would put them in a Super Bowl. These other teams that have got on streaks had the talent and coaching to make a push to the Super Bowl. Dallas has neither.

Well they had decent coaching and a QB who doesn't consistently choke. Things we do not possess.

The Giants were also a much better team than their record indicated. They started playing well and got healthy at the right times.

I don't think either of those teams were more talented than our current team is. The Giants team did benefit from getting back a couple players on the DL and in the secondary that had been out with injuries. That Ravens team last season sure didn't look very talented until their QB started playing out of his mind when it mattered most.

The reality is, there are no fairy tales in the NFL. There are a lot of evenly matched good teams, and small changes can make a big difference late in the season. It's obvious and, quite frankly, it makes the entire premise of this thread an obvious, and silly, attempt to invalidate what our team might accomplish this season if we keep playing hard and stay in control of our division.

Here's to us playing well and getting healthy at the right times, then.

If healthy, the talent and coaching is not good enough to make a run. Sometimes your favorite team is simply lacking. This is one if those times. It has been that way for a few years actually.
