If you could get any one running back to run behind our line, who would it be?

In the interest in not being boring and saying in his prime AD...

LaDainian Tomlinson would be fun behind this line.

RB's today are bigger stronger faster than backs from any other era. So I'm not going to take a back 20 years ago. I'm a fan of what Marshawn Lynch can do. Power and elusiveness with good acceleration.

Jim Brown was 6-2, 235 and was faster than everybody else on the field.

You are correct that it's really hard to project a runner from the 1960's to today, however, I suspect Jim Brown would be great today as well.

No real difference in the size of RB's today from Emmitt's era and even during Dorsett's era. Sure, overall the backs are thicker today but you had some big, fast RB's back in the day like Earl Campbell and John Riggins in the late 70's and early 80's who had some pretty good speed for men their size. The real difference in size and speed is on the defensive side of the ball which is why I would pick Adrian Peterson because even with the size and speed we see on defense he can still run through a wall and out race everyone to the endzone.

I am not sure if we played this game already but if you could choose any one past/present who would you go with? My guy would actually be Terrell Davis. I think he would fit perfectly as most would but his running style from his best years would be a pleasure to watch behind this line.

what about Charlie Garner he could run and catch the ball out of the backfield

Emmitt Smith, Barry Sanders, or Walter Payton.

I wouldn't pick a back from decades ago because the game has changed and the size and speed of defensive players is greater than it was 20 plus years ago. If I'm going to pick a back I'm going to pick one like Peterson who's proven they can get it done in todays game. I'm certainly not saying Emmitt, Sanders or Payton couldn't get it done today but they did play in a different era under some different rules and defensive players weren't as big and fast as we see today.

Nick Chubb.. He's better than his running mate Todd Gurley.

I'm not so sure. The defenders are 10x better today than they were when Jim Brown played. Stands to reason that he wouldn't be quite the legend if he played in today's game. If Adrian Peterson played in Browns era, he would've set records never to be broken because he's that superior an athlete compared to everyone else on the field. Even a tier 2 back like LeSean McCoy would be considered Barry Sanders if he played back then. Guys with that kind of athleticism didn't walk the earth back then.

Really? Has homo-sapiens evolved that much in 50 years?

I understand training and nutrition has advanced greatly in the past 50 years, however, I don't believe for a second that great natural athletes every bit as 'athletic' as today player's existed back then.

Me, but only if the contract has guaranteed money in it...

I think they just didn't make it to Professional Sports very often back then.

Jesse Owens ran a 10.3 100m. The Cowboys had a practice squad player a few years ago that ran a 9.9 100m (Teddy Williams).

I just watched some youtube Jim Brown highlights. Some of the defenders back then we're downright uncoordinated and horrible tacklers. Idk how the athletes have came so far in 50 years but it's undeniable.

Yep. I seems like that a middling RB like Marion Barber would have been the greatest player in the league back in those days.
