If Young is our QB, what would you think ?

-for his first ever NFL game he played pretty well.
-he is not exactly surrounded with talent, though his backs look solid
-he was moving the ball on us for a while, and did throw for a td on talent loaded defense

that said, he has work to do, but no qb comes into the nfl and just tears it up

I think Ben from Steeler is not too bad. Even though they didn't get superbowl in his rookie year.

Yeah, if it was Jay Cutler some people would be singing a different tune. Heck, when Cutler went off in one of the Denver preseason games people got excited.

I still say Vince Young is either going to be a huge star or a huge bust, right now he was okay but like someone else says, he needs to get better...im talking hitting the film room and and the practice field right after the game :D .

Naturally the positive things said about him should be ignored right?

Unreal.

Ben Roethlisberger?

Not at all I think Young is going to be a good one.
What a silly way to spread hate for Young.

[/sarcasm off]

Whats with the Vince Young bashing?

dude is a ROOKIE making his first start against a VERY agressive defense. Matt Leinart sucked arse today too. Rookie QB's always have issues while their learning. Troy Aikman was TERRIBLE as a rookie. The Titans O-line and defense blow. Get real
:hammer: couldnt have said it better myself. I was impressed with his poise especially for someone making his first NFL start against a great Defense. obviously he has stuff to work on but every rookie no matter what position they play do too. He would have been awesome here in Dallas with the supporting cast he would have on O but we obviously had no shot at getting him. I really look forward to him getting better week by week. He will be a star in a couple years

Oh the weeping.

Makes no difference that opinions are split on the worth of EVERY Qb in the History of the NFL.

Poor Vince Young is persecuted.

I don't like VY's game. Sorry Longhorn fans, that's just how I feel. I don't think his style of running is conducive to success in the NFL. In college his running was what setup the passing game. I don't see that working in the NFL because he isn't a guy who makes people miss like Vick. He was the type to get to the corner and slip through arm tackles because of his strength.

He has a lot of work to do on his passing and decision making before I'll change my mind. I have a problem with his mechanics too. I've never seen a 6'5" QB release the way he does. It effectively makes him a 6' QB in the pocket and as a result passes get knocked down.

He may very well end up being successful, but he is not nearly as polished as I would want a QB coming out of college to be.

He has a strong arm. His realease is quick, and he can get the ball in a tight spot. He has that swagger about him....but that got him in trouble today. His team was down, and he tried to make stuff happen, and he just couldn't.

He may have had a bad day running today, but the threat of him running freed up alot of space for some passes. More than once Tennessee ran a play action one way, rolled Young out the opposite way. He completed a few passes like that.

I guess you missed the word "some" in my post.

Thanks

The point is, and remains, that no QB in NFL History gets nothing but love and being surprised by criticism is naive. Why wouldn't there be criticism of him? He threw 2 INTs. I don't understand what the issue is.

"Some" people would rip Jay Cutler too.

Oh the humanity!

Just pointing out that it wouldnt matter how he performed, "some" are just not going to like him and that is all fine and well, they have a right to their opinion, just thought I would make that fact known.

i really think he'll be a good player. I like his poise, he'll get it together with some experience.

Exactly.

Roethlisberger won a Super Bowl. "Look at his QB rating."

Peyton Manning is a freaking genius. "He can't win the big one."

It's the nature of the game and fandom. Why be upset about it? It's reality.

Pointing out Cutler and saying he'd get a break that Young didn't get is 100% false. If Cutler threw 2 picks..."I told you he was a bust."

Fair enough?

Disappointed? Nope. He has things to work on like all QB's do.

Sometimes you just are a winner. He's done nothing but win, and heard nothing but doubts. I think he will turn out pretty well.

Like I said, he has that swagger, but it got him in trouble today. Once he trusts his teammates more, he'll be real good. He's got the arm, he made some good decisions, and he probably learned that NFL defenses are ALOT faster than any he faced in college.

On the money. He did some very good things. He made some errors. On the whole I was impressed.
