You also might want to watch out for 4th round WR Isaiah Stanback. He is a phenominal athlete that played QB in college but has been recovering from a serious foot injury. He also burned your starting corners, Bly and Bailey, for TDs in one on one drills today. ;)

He might also get a chance to return punts. To be honest, this is his first real week of practice, but there has been a lot of talk on these boards as to whether the boys wasted a pick on him. Some are very excited to see what he can do while some have concluded that he is wasting a roster spot. You might as well get in on the frenzy....

Do they still call the Bronco's "Cowboy West"? They used to call it that after all the old Cowboys went (in the Tony Dorsett days) there to retire. Now they seems to have a lot of old Cowboys again.

No questions but a request. I live deep in the heart of Chef territory. Would you guys please beat them both times you play them this year. They truly HATE the Broncos similiar to the way we hate the Redstinks.

And on that note, please beat the Chargers both times this year.

Thanks in advance.

Great post, and I should add my brother is a diehard Broncos fan as well, so I'm a little familiar. Cutler does look really good, Walker will be tough, and the running game for the Broncos will always be productive. Sorry the Snake didn't work out for you, but he was a loser...

Cowboys to watch: Tyson Thompson 3rd RB, Joey Thomas 5th CB, Isiah Stanbach 6th WR, and whoever is playing backup NT. For myself, I'll be interested in watching 3rd QB Moore and 7th WR Urbane who I really hope makes the team...

Cutler is the real deal. He has grown tremendously since last season. He knows how to deal with pressure, has a rocket arm, and is getting much better with avoiding pressure and making the right reads. His main problem is that he will try to "jam it in" with arm strength when he should maybe just check it down. That means big plays will come with a few bonehead picks. I honestly look for him to have a breakout year like an early Carson Palmer. He will be dangerous.

question for you - how is javon walker doing and how much is expected of him this year?

Yeah but I have family in San Diego.

They know nothing about football, but just because the home team's winning, they start spouting off nonsense.

Yes, please keep us updated on Travis Henry. I'm thinking of picking him up in the second round of my fantasy draft; that's if he falls to me at #17.

I have a question abut last year: What was the overall feeling of the Broncos fan base in regards to Plummer getting pulled last year for Cutler? Was it something the fans were crying for or was it something that you think was premature, seeing as how Plummer was putting up all pro numbers and leading the team to a 13-3 record and the AFC championship the year before? Up until the point that Cutler took over, the Broncos were in pretty good shape for a serious playoff run.

Hey Cowboys fans,
Let me start by saying that I am a respectful poster and didn't come here to talk trash. I grew up in Arlington and went to my share of Cowboys games back during the Danny White, Drew Pearson, Tony Dorsett years and really liked the team then.
Anyway, I am coming to the game (with the family) this weekend and would like to hear the scoop on Cowboys "players to watch." I would also be happy to answer questions about the Broncos if you have questions. I am a pretty knowledgeable fan and have a good understanding of the team and players.

To start, much of the practice info I have seen has been with a makeshift offensive line. Our line is a little dinged up and I expect they are resting several of our starters for the game (while trying out some young talent). I have seen reports about Meadows vs. Ware and I will honestly say I don't know if Meadows will be on our final roster.
Our starting O-line (from left to right) will be Lepsis (groin), Hamilton (concussion), Nalen, Kuper, and Pears. So, if you see those guys getting beat, you are indeed beating our starters.
Our D-line has been totally retooled and we really don't know what to expect. I suspect it will take us 4-6 regular season games to really gel. For a pass rush, look for rookie Jarvis Moss (knee sprain) and second year player Elvis Dumervil. If you keep these guys out of the backfield, they are our "speed rushers." First and second down will be Ekuban (you know him), Engleberger (not flashy, but decent), and from UT rookie Tim Crowder.
Our biggest question on defense is not really the performance of Champ and Dre, it is our traditionally strong linebacking corps. Our MLB DJ Williams is a tremendous athelete, but has been having a difficult time picking up the new scheme. If this continues, look for Dallas to have a strong running game up the middle this weekend by either Jones or Barber. It may take DJ a year to totally adapt, we'll see. Our competition for SAM is still open, we expect Nate Webster to start there this weekend. He is known for big, helmet popping hits.

Our offense is starting to look potent now that guys are getting healthy. Javon Walker is always big, look for him to make a couple big plays. Second year receiver Brandon Marshall is a guy with a huge future if he stays healthy. He is big, fast, and runs great routes. He could be the guy the Cowboys overlook. The final position I will bring up is our tight ends Graham and Scheffler. You guys are probably familiar with Daniel Graham, but we are looking at him as a receiver also - will he get separation and make catches? Second year TE Tony Scheffler has some wheels and will remind you of Witten. With Cutler's arm, they can be a dangerous tandem in the 15-30 yard range.

Those are the basics, what should I know about the 'Boys these days?

Big :welcome: to you!

On a side bar...why can't we get more posters from other teams to be more like this guy?

You don't know how bad we want to beat the "Chefs" at Arrowhead this year. Consider it done!

Great poster thus far. Please stick around after the pre-season game.

Although you did say Bell started at #3 and moved back to #3 ?

No, now Bell is the solid #2. The other guy in the mix is converted fullback, Cecil Sapp. He's a big guy, but he has been too slow hitting the hole (which is death in Denver's system). Mike should keep the #2 spot from here on out. If Travis wears down the opposing D, Mike can break some big runs during clean up duty.

There's a lot of receiver competition in the AFC (Chad Johnson, Marvin Harrison, Hines Ward, etc.), but I really expect Walker to have a pro-bowl year if he stays healthy. Plummer sucked at big downfield plays and Walker still finished with about 1,100 yards. With Cutler at the helm, he has a good shot at 1,400 to 1,500 yards.

He is expected to be a big part of our O, with yards and leadership. We don't know if Rod Smith will make it off PUP this year or not, and he was a huge factor in our locker room, as well as game day.

Look for Brandon Marshall to have a big year at #2, and if Brandon Stokely can get healthy, it will make a deadly 1,2,3 combo.

In all honesty, the defense carried the team for the first half of the 2006 season. Plummer lost his balls and was afraid "not to lose." We hired a "snake" and he wilted when we needed him most. I like Jake, he was the best bootleg passer in the biz, but his arm strength and decision making cost him his spot. Shanahan had been holding back on the playbook for about two years because Jake was limited by a small skillset. That's why Shanahan traded up for Cutler.
As far as the QB timing, it was the right thing to do. Our whole team withered at the end of last year, Cutler was a bright spot. If we kept Jake in for the playoffs, we would have gotten embarrased in the first round.
The experience of 5 games and huge pressure was great for Cutler, this year he understands what it is all about and is ready to go.
Changing QB's is never easy (I remember last year when Romo came in for Bledsoe and threw that pick). But, the pressure has definetely made Romo a better QB. Dallas will have to be ready with a hefty contract for Romo at the end of thhe season (I think he'll earn it).
