I'm done hating on Roy Williams

I'm glad that they sat his butt tonight, a big step for Wade/Jason.

Was Roy totally benched in the second half FOR SURE? Or was it just that he played a little less?

If, in fact, he really was benched for the second half then I APPLAUD the coaches for it. It's been overdue. Not as a penalty (although I could see that, too) but as a matter of production.

I'm trying to figure out whats to hate about Roy. No one is happy about his lack of production. If you think you are upset about it imagine how he feels. It is embarrassing for him, his family, and friends. I just dont understand why so many people need someone to hate. He is a member of the Dallas Cowboys. He is a Texas boy who wants to play for the cowboys more than anyone does. He has been a Cowboys fan his whole life. Can we say that about many of the players. How about Romo? Did he grow up a cowboys fan?

People will say its his arrogance. He isnt arrogant. He has been getting questioned by every past star for his favorite team since they traded for him. His ability has been called into question so many times. He just believed in himself. All professional athletes do.

As far as his contract goes....would any of us have not taken the money if offered to us? He did nothing wrong with his contract. He hasnt given up on the team.
We probably don't like him because of his effort (or lack thereof). When Irvin tried to give him advice, Roy blew him off. Miles was receptive.

Now recently he said he would catch something like 100 balls a day after practice. He should have been doing that way before now. That and staying after to work on route running.

But it seemed like he thought he was "Roy Williams," and all he had to do was show up. He also had a piss-poor attitude by refusing to take responsibility.

Now he's suddenly an object of sympathy? Holy ****.

lol... my sentiments exactly!!! Roy was where he belonged at the end of the game... That is watching from the sidelines as our top three WRs (Austin, Crayton, Ogletree) finished it out. I look forward to Ogletree playing an increasing role as time goes on.

I was excited when we brought Roy to Dallas last year. I thought that he would be another Glen.

The one thing that concerns me is that he is not a good practice player which translates to a game (from Irvin). He was babied both at UT and Detroit. I hope he realizes that he has to play hard and is able to turn it up a notch for us. With his size, he should be dominating.

I feel much worse that we gave up a first and third round pick for a guy who is no better than 3rd or 4th at his position on the roster.

He's had a year and a half to get it together and he still doesn't seem to get it, at least on the field. It did look like it was sinking in to him on the sidelines, but that isn't helping us any.
He needs more time.

Five years from now he will make an impact!

I think you have it backwards...
He is better in practice than the games.

And if he's not, then I would hate to see what he looks like in practice.

He isn't that much faster or bigger than everyone else at this level - that isn't good enough. He is not Randy Moss.

These threads remind me so much of the old Roy Williams #31 threads. So many hoping that he would magically revert back to pro bowl but seeing him get worse instead. Next comes the "blame it on the scheme." Then comes the "blame it on lack of desire." After that it is "acceptance that he just isn't all that good," followed by the "confusion as to how he got so bad so fast and is still young." Lastly will come the "cut your losses and move on."

Same name; same story.

Get rid of him, play Ogletree in the slot, move Crayton to #2 WR...

If only we were playing Madden.. That would have been done weeks ago. ;) :p:

Could it be any worse? Honestly?

I don't think so Dave. It's very bad right now. Roy looks like he's in la la land.

I suspect that our "investment" in him is the only reason he's playing, which would be obscene. If Ogletree makes us better, then play him.

I still don't know if Ogletree knows all that much of the offense yet as I seem to get the impression that they are trying to ease him in ever so slowly. I think next season is when he is going to make his big push for more playing time.

Well I don't think this quote could have ended up looking any more ridiculous than it did:

“It’s just not even close. It’s not even funny. Not even close. I’m the number one receiver. But things are just going number two’s way. He gets the ball thrown correctly his way. I’m stretching and falling and doing everything. Everybody (else) who’s been here’s balls are there. Our footballs (from Romo to Williams) are everywhere right now.”

-Roy Williams (38 receptions, 596 yards, 7 touchdowns) talking about how much better he is than Miles Austin (81 receptions, 1320 yards, 11 touchdowns).

you've got to get his confidence back...give him a few dump-offs, get him in the game...

it's too important...we need to get him involved. yeah, i know...i've wanted to break a pumpkin over his melon; but he's a big weapon - a weapon currently devoid of confidence. get him slowly into the game...and then reap some rewards.

I agree. Get him involved even if you have to hand the dam ball to him. LOL

I say Roy make a gamewinning catch next week or the week after that ;)

:laugh2: The lengths people go to to protect their ego. (And yes, I am aware this is an older quote)
