I'm pretty optimistic that we'll be drafting in top 10 next year

.. that we will be drafting top 10 next year. That said, who besides Mariota and Winston will be available at 1-10?

We have a tougher schedule than last year and will be fortunate enough to see 8-8. 6-10 is more likely. There are sooooo many questions and so few absolutes going into training camp. This truly feels like a cleverly disguised rebuild. I'm sure there will be plenty that tell me I am sooooo far off base. It feels pretty accurate though.

So basically you don't believe the $100 Million QB can take a Stacked Offense and carry the team?

Actually, the odds of the Cowboys being better on Defense (healthy) and Offense (Zach Martin) are pretty darn good.

With Martin shouldn't we have one of the top OL in the league? IF we have a decent OC then we should be running the ball 30 x per game while limiting Romo to less than 30 attempts per game. However, if we fall behind then all bets are off.

Still our D is like the Titanic. Destined to sink.

Running 30x a game? Sounds like a pipe dream with Red at the helm but perhaps our new OC will have more creative control than anticipated.

Romo takes a lot of hits unnecessarily sometimes. Holding on to the ball, scrambling left or right and still not throwing it away, he's got to stop doing that if he has back problems. Believe me, he will get hit and hit hard, there's no way around that with the way he plays, so we'll see if he holds up.

On the flip side, running the ball may be his chance to survive. I have no clue as to what type of coordinator this new guy is, but keep Garrett away from him.

Running the ball regularly and creatively would be great medicine for Romo. I'm with you on that one. Don't let red get within 50 yards of the new OC.

First and foremost, Romo is tough but even the toughest of men can be chopped down by back issues. Hopefully the surgery holds true. We shall see...

Secondly, Romo has developed quite the reputation for piling up stats during mundane periods of the season and building anticipation only to dash those hopes at the most inopportune times. Yes. Much of our recent issues have rested squarely on the defensive side of the ball. If your offense scores 30, more often than not you should win those games. Consistency in putting it together in all three phases has been an alien concept in Big D for the last several years.

Well see what happens.

Vegas shares your optimism. They have them at 40-1 following the draft.

He went down much more easily last year and people hated him for it. "Not the same Romo." etc.

I'm fine with him going down easier. Scrambling is no longer part of his repertoire. It was exciting while it lasted.. Now I cringe every time I see it.

Well they almost won the division with a bunch of burger flippers in the front seven a year ago...if Lee, and the dline can stay relatively healthy along with the key guys on offense the Cowboys can win nine games....maybe ten with some luck.

I am not concerned with the offense. I am not concerned with Romo. I feel that we have enough talent and experience on offense to be better than one of the 10 worst teams in the league next year.

It's the defense that is the great unknown. We had so many injuries last season that I want to hope that it will be better this year. BUT.... I think the problem is more than injuries. I think the defensive problem is that we have spent years drafting guys to fit a defensive scheme that we no longer use. We had guys playing in roles not best suited for them. Guys like Ware, Sean Lee, Claiborne....looking back and remembering how the games became laughable when I would hear the announcers name players who made the last tackle and I would honestly have never heard of some of them. I guess it's hard to even run a defense with players off the street and the mash unit.

It can't be like that again.

Our QB goes out with a back injury and we are playing for the playoffs at the end of the year and everyone knew that it didn't even matter if we won or lost since our defense was just so bad that we all felt hopeless.

. But with an improved offensive line, it may, at least, be entertaining again.
Maybe we'll be treated to more great entertainment this year like that Packers game.

Someone asked Gosselin today if at 13 1/2 would he take the over or the under for Romo games started. He took the under.

We'll be drafting in the teens after going 8-8 again. Somehow, Romo will once again win some games for us we should have lost then JG will lose us some games we should have won.

I see us drafting around 30-32 in 2015...the team will be healthy which would have translated to 10-6 last year...then, you get an improved OL with Martin, and an improved D just by being healthy and with RM taking better supplies to build the DL, then we can go 12-4

the schedule means nothing to me...with the exception of SF and Seattle that you KNOW will be good, the rest is a crap shoot....

optimistic that we go to the playoffs and once in there, anything can happen

I'm tired of people calling our division weak. If that's the case every division is weak with the exception of the West because they've had two teams reach critical mass at the same time, which is a rarity.

I'm Mr. 8-8 as far as predictions go for this team but...
The draft philopsophy and the hopes for Jones that Romo can play another 4-5 years tells me they actually might run the ball. The Linehan thing throws me off but I don't think it's about us getting the Detroit offense. I think it's more about Garrett backing off the offense and finding someone he is comfortable with running the offense.

if we do run, then we do have potential to surpass the 8s. Perhaps our o line becomes the identity of the team. At least I am hoping so.

Unless you think our division is good, which I don't, then we do not have a tough schedule except for some awkward times.

We went 5-1 in our division last year so that wasnt a problem, the problem came outside the division. This year, imo, our schedule is much tougher with having to play the NFC West, NO, Indy, Chicago and the Texans.

It could be a 8 and 8 season again but I don't see that as condemned to hell.I see an improving team.
Is that good enough, not really . There are things I like about the last few seasons and mainly don't be boring.
I think we'll have a shot before Romo retires and this time it's the right way.
I think things are interesting out at the ranch. There is a sea change
I think after next season the dead money drops pretty drastically and that will help.
