I'm worried we'll regret trading Ayodele

I don't think you will regret the trade at all. Neither of those guys really had much value as IMPACT players. And for me that is the key.

Fasano, unfortunately maybe, never had the chance, or maybe never showed up. Most of us will never know. I wonder if Bill drafted him to replace Witten and it became apparent that was not going to be the case.
Parcells wanted to go to a lot of two te sets. The word from Mickey Spagnola after talking to coaches was that Fasano made way too many mistakes last year and they felt he was never going to be able to grasp the playbook. Not that bright apparently.

Yeah, he said his biggest problem was above his shoulders.

I'm worried that someone's going to worry that we traded away Ayodele.

I'm worried no one is gonna be able to run his restaurant "Jerseyville" in Plano. :)

Okay ... I'll stop worrying about it. Apparently I'm the only one with this concern, which makes me feel a touch better. You can't ALL be blind homers ;)

I would love to see Carpenter blossom into something but i think Thomas will be great.

I'm finally pleased about where the LBer group is headed.

Ayodele was signed to hold down one of the LBer positions while guys like Burnett and Ware sorted it out and the Ellis experiment was tried and Bradie James settled.

Carpenter and Spencer now are here and both with 1-2 years experience. They are ready to play more.

And I'm glad Carp is finally going to get another shot at getting on the field. It's his time to dispell all the rumors about him not being a player. I think he'll step up this season and grab a starter spot and Zach Thomas will be the backup and situational substitution player and not the other way around.

Just my feeling.

That means Ayodele as a stop-gap player had to go to let these young guys get snaps.

This was in the cards from day one. It was the same with why we signed Fergie at NT. Until somebody else could be found, we needed established players we could immediately plug in.

As for Fasano, he was just mis-casted. He was drafted that high because BP wanted to run that 2-TE as a base defense because he wanted to simplify things with the young QBs we had and go to a max QB protect offense..

..and when that plug was pulled when Bledsoe signed in June of that year after having already choosen Fasano..it completely forced BP and the coaches to abandon the planned 2 TE offense and instead open it up with Bledsoe throwing downfield.

Fasano immediately became a man without a mission.

I don't doubt that BP is going to re-create that 2 TE offense down in Miami again and Fasano will probably be effective. But it was never going to happen here and make Fasano a fixture in the offense like he was drafted for.

So good riddens as far as I'm concerned with him being gone, too. Another roster spot without a plan.

I like Bennett much better in the role. Way bigger, better hands, will be important in 3rd down conversions and redzone and goal line offense.

Fasano had no impact in these areras.

Bennett will crush those LBers and safeties when he goes into motion and closes the pursuit of the defense and also when he slips past those safeties and DBs in the seams and soft spots of the zone defenses downfield while TO and Witten are drawing their double coverages.

Actually, Bennett has the potential to make us forget we didn't draft a WR this year. We're going to get much more effective results with him playing than a rookie WR who will be riding the bench 80% of the time.

My 2 cents.

I'm sorry but Carpenter was a product of his environment while in school.

Nothing he has shown makes me believe for a second that he is just about to turn the corner. He was a bad draft choice.

Ayodele wasn't even "solid" last year. He sucked. He was a liability in the run game and passing game.

If Cowboys had given up a 4th for those 2, our fans would be screaming that Parcells took Jerry to the cleaners.

I totally agree with this. If the shoe was on the other foot many here would not have been happy at all.

Does it make you feel any better to know that they turned that pick into both RB Tashard Choice and CB Orlando Scandrick?

---------4(104)
4(100)>
---------7(213)

---------4(122) RB Tashard Choice
4(104)>
---------5(155)

5(155)

7(213)

Thank you for sharing this. This was a great breakdown and really tells the whole story.

I'm concerned that we traded both Ayodel and Fasano for only a 4th round.

Ok,,,, lets try a different perspective. First of all saying that we traded away two starters for a lame 4th rounder is exactly right.

Thats exactly what happened!

But we are talking the Miami Dolphins and the Dallas Cowboys.
Apples and Oranges.... no no , not even apples and oranges, were talking a half eaten pecan spit out from a disease infested squirell up in the top of an old dying Oak tree vs an Orange.

53

That is the only number that should be relevant to you, thats what I want you to focus on.

Im not trying to be condecending here, so dont take it that way, Im just trying to get the point accross that somtimes,, more often than not, teams that are loaded up for a championship run, have to cut players that other teams that are rebuilding can plug right into their starting line-up.

Thats just the luxury of being loaded with talent, this team is stock piled , and I dont know of any other way of pointing that out to you if you dont recognize that already.

Ayodele has never been nothing more than a JAG,, and thats not the team he came from,,, JAG... Just Another Guy.

Fasano is coming off two shoulder surgeries, and Im sure that if the staff felt comfortable going into the season with him/shoulders, they would have included him on the 53 whithout hesitation.

I really dont see that Jerry is in buisness to do parcells favors, thats just ludicrous.

I think that Jerry just jabbed the fat man right in the ribs, and followed up with a right cross,,, for basically a low 3rd rounder, for two players that have never lived up to their expectations.

The Cowboys are primed for a run at the ring, the Dolphins are just trying to field 53 legitamitly.

There is a huge huge difference!!!!!

Zack will only play for 1 year then head to the house.Hopefully thats a super bowl year.If not look for an over haul of the whole team.

Unbelievable

being one of the biggest Carpenter's critics in this forum all I can say is let's give the kid a chance to play. In the only game where he saw extended action (the playoff game vs the seahawks 2 years ago) he played pretty good. before we anoit 50 year old and punch drunk Zach Thomas our saviour on defense i would like to have Carpenter prove me, and all of his critics wrong. I hated the pick back then but all i can hope now is that not all has been lost. let the kid play.

Typhus, you really cant defend this, simply because you stated 2 starters for a fourth. Fasano was a true starter ? When did that happen ?

Wow.

Just wow.

I really wouldn't worry too much about this, what did they do to even justify anyone worrying?

Worried about losing Ayodele? Why? Is there a player fashion show coming up that I don't know about? Because, let's face it... the man can work the runway like it's nobody's business.
