In my opinion, the final four prospects for the Cowboys (if they stay at #22)

I presented you with a postulate that must be true if your argument held any merit.

OMG, Oakland picks at #1, we pick at 22, our 2 situations are so different, it's not even funny

HeavyHitta31 said:
You claimed Dallas would draft one of said players because they had been talked to and brough tin for workouts.

no, I'm not the one dealing in absolutes here, I'm just refuting your preposterous idea, that has no basis in fact, that only Houston, out of the OP's list has a chance in hades of being selected by Dallas, when the facts prove otherwise, when Dallas is talking to the very same prospects you are trying to discredit as potential selections

HeavyHItta31 said:
Therefore, Oakland must also be considering Gaines Adams and Brady Quinn at #1, since both have been contacted. However, this is not the case, it is simply a ploy to make other teams want to trade with them, and you know it.

so Oakland looking at Gaines Adams is sending signals that Oakland wants to trade down?!! that's not the only reason they talked to Gaines Adams, it's called DOING YOUR PRE-DRAFT HOMEWORK since you have the pick of the litter sitting at #1 overall

HeavyHitta31 said:
In other words, that "tangent" discredits your assumption. If you're too dense to see it, well, sorry.

it doesn't discredit it at all, sorry, you talked out of your anal orifice again, and have to resort to a whole other situation that has nothing to do w/ what we're talking about

Write it down. One of these players will be a Cowboy by the end of Saturday. How would you rank these four players?

I like the first two... had the 3rd one, and don't like the 4th one much either.

Here's Merriweather from nfldraftcountdown.com
Strengths:
Smooth athlete with fluid hips...Has excellent range and excels in coverage...Very instinctive and a playmaker with solid hands and ball skills...He plays fast and has superb timed speed...A physical player who will throw his body around...Reliable tackler who can lay the lumber and will play the run...Very versatile and could play a number of roles in the secondary...Smart and a hard worker who is reportedly a leader...Durable and productive with lots of experience against elite competition.

This sounds like just what Dallas needs. He's versatile and more experience than Nelson.

btw, there's not much that seperates Merriweather and Nelson, you guys are basically fighting about which prospect you like more, when you can't go wrong w/ either

The ONLY reason Nelson is projected to go higher....and in case you did not know projections dont mean much...but anyways....is because of Meriweathers character issues....Based on TALENT alone....Meriweather is a top 15 talent in this draft...

First of all, yes, his character is a big concern. Skipping practice and hitting other players with your helmet are hardly things to simply blow off. People rarely change at this point in life.

Second, Nelson's exceptional range makes him a better fit for what WE need, a ballhawk who doesnt have the judgement skills of an autistic goldfish to back up RW

I'm just going by what the scouting reports are saying

Emmitt Smith was too slow to be a franchise back.....

Terrell Owens was just the product of weak opponents....

Tom Brady....who the Hell is Tom Brady?

Get the idea?

that's not the point, it's you saying that Nelson is really intelligent, when there are questions about his intelligence, I like Nelson and think he's going to be a good player, but you're just making stuff up here

I only agree with 2-4...no way we'll waste our pick on another safety, no matter who he is.

I think Houston is our man. Only Hall rates up with him, imo.

I have no interest in Ross or Spencer unless we trade down to the very bottom of round 1 or top of round 2.

actually the fact that their play at the S position are comprable....but when you add in the fact that meriweather can cover the slot WR in nickel situations puts him over the top as far as who we need at this selection....It would give us a tremendous amount of flexibility for which DBs we throw on the field....we can have Newman cover the slot liek he has been and have Glenn on the side...with Meriweather OR Hamlin at FS .....OR we can put meriweather in the slot, newman on the side and Hamlin at FS......or you can possibly throw in something CRAZY and have Roy Hamlin and Meriweather and glenn on the field....and blitz roy and leave the Hamlin and meriweather in to play the pass...

I never claimed Nelson was smart, but book smarts mean little to nothing on the field. Again, people questioned Radio's intelligence uch moreso than Nelson's, and he was pretty damn good

Many believe Nelson could double as a corner in the league, so that point holds no water

they're not questioning Nelson's book-smarts...

again, I don't think it would be much of a problem for him as Brian Dawkins had the same questions surrounding him when he came out, and he turned out alright

Yes, they are. His low score on the Wonderlic and his grades in college are the prime reason people are questioning his intelligence. Do try to keep up.

OK...HH...you go find me a legit draft analysis that indicates that nelson can double up and play corner and I will throw up the white flag and concede this argument to you....because from everything I have heard...NFLN, on the nfldraftcountdown forum, and from ESPN is that it is clear to everyone that Nelson CANNOT double up and play corner in the NFL.
