In Response to the Just find Another Team Argument

Over the last week, many of us here on the Zone have heard something like this a number of times: “If you don’t like how the Cowboys are run, just go to another team. It’s Jerry’s right as owner to do whatever he wants, and if you don’t like it, leave”. I would like to address this idea.

What is often overlooked in this genre of response to our frustration is that people are not fans of a team for logical reasons. We are not choosing our football team like we would if we were buying a commodity which is the same everywhere you get it. We are emotionally aligned with our team for a number of reasons.

I, and many of us here on the zone, follow the Cowboys because of what they represented in their past. At their best they are quintessentially American. For those of us from North Texas and the surrounding states, the Cowboys are also part of our culture.

My grandmother who lives in the tiny Oklahoma town where Troy Aikman was raised brought me to the Dallas Cowboys. It is quite simply a part of me. I cannot just up and leave and neither can most of us here. The Cowboys are family for many of us and preserve the memories of those long gone who also rode with the star. I’m sure many here have similar stories.

So no, we cannot just go find another team.

What they have become and how this organization is managed is nothing we can be proud to associate with. What it has come to represent in its modern form is disgusting. It is deeply painful to see the franchise we love and its storied history be cheapened and erased by decades of nothing short of a circus directed by a man who cares for nothing but himself.

I'll sometimes read his posts, if it's only 2 or 3 sentences worth of words. It's usually not too hard to figure out where the punctuation should be.

I usually get my daily serving of vegetables from trying to read those word salads.

I’m a fan always, but I’m sure as hell disappointed when our GM is not performing his job properly and preventing us from ever getting there again.

I’m fine with losing. I’ve seen plenty of it, but what Jerry Jones has given us over 30 years is unacceptable.

There are so many Jones apologists now that I wonder if, for some bizarre circumstances, the Jones sold the Cowboys and bought another team, how many of them would jump ship to that team.

More than anything else, this best describes my feelings... they're part of my culture. I am reminded of the Sunday afternoons with my late father watching the Cowboys and, much later, watching the games with my own son.

Actually it's not I choose to have run on sentence rants because when they get out of control I don't have time and nor do I care to impress anyone if you don't wanna read it just pass it by and we're not friends were Internet acquaintances at best and for you this is my first post to you or from you therefore we're not even acquaintances so move on you like my run on sets again 'cause I'm gonna keep doing it 'cause I know it bothers you I use talk to text for speed and efficiency especially with things that are not important at some point I just let it ride bro just let it flow and then move on that's spitting facts

Ditto times 100 I use talk to text most of them responses once they get out of control I just let it roll I let it ramble on in a run on sentences and I don't care what people feel I'm just telling you I don't need to read it all because the context is all in the heading and in the first sentence you know what I mean I didn't say I was ignoring what he's saying I literally meant I don't need to read it all to understand where he was going with it therefore I can respond without reading it all you know maybe you don't have i'm a comprehensive skills like i do....it didn't hurt your feelings too much..

Well there is some truth to this I get tired of hearing about these so-called experts most of which they get all their information from the Internet playing fantasy football looking at other people's analytics shows watching all these channels in YouTube and then they think they're experts they think they could do better that is our coaching staff has looked at times over the years and as bad as our front office has fared especially on building playoff ready teams you know long deep run teams I wouldn't believe a lick of anything anybody says around here because most of it's all something they've read or heard not experienced I don't think there's a single person in here that's coached in the NFL or ran a billion dollar franchise in a multibillion dollar league and is put under a microscope 24 hours a day by new social media standards and it never lets up year round so every once in awhile you're gonna get a response from a Jerry Jones 'cause he's tired of hearing it because that's what he meant when's the last time any of these media people are fans run a team or been under this kind of pressure or this kind of scrutiny so some of us get tired of hearing it..

We get it a lot of this place is full of opinions rhetoric hyperbole and we're gonna repeat things I call it parroting and we're gonna try to get involved in debates but when people start saying how dumb coaches are and how they can do it better and they can call plays better and how they can devise a better game plan completely go blank or go full red rant on people because they don't get what these coaches have went through since they started like way back when they may have coached in high school in college like Mike McCarthy's been probably coaching 30 years and they wanna question everything he does like he doesn't know what he's doing but when's the last time they were in a live game in a heated battle and had to make a quick decision not one using hindsight or what you would have done because you watch TV and were able to stop the playback and it rewind it 100 times when he has to do it in real time..
