Inside Texas reported that Alabama head coach Nick Saban will be announced as Longhorns coach

He'd have a loaded class at UT and he'd be top 5 in recruiting every year.

Its very possible he could announce then have the top overall class in the country within a few days.

Briles got his extension, Sumlin got his extension, Malzahn got his extension... if Saban was angling for another extension he'd have it by now.

Saban to UT has been very real for a long time.

Yep. I'd expect that if Saban decided to come to Texas, a considerable number of his recruiting class would do the same.

I'd bet that Zach Whitley, Cameron Sims, OJ Smith, Cameron Robinson and Lawrence Jones might all consider making a switch if Saban did come to Texas. I'd also bet that Tony Brown, Jamal Adams, Sol Thomas and probably a few others might just decide for Texas right now.

Recruiting Texas would never be a problem for just about any decent coach and for a coach like Saban, it would be a given. JMO

WHEN Saban takes the UT job I suspect he pulls in a great class without even trying.
He'll bring a few he had for Bama and he'll keep much of what Texas had committed.

He'll also likely land a couple JUCOs or key transfers that can play day 1.

Very possible you see a couple guys transfer from Bama as well.
With UT being out of state and out of conference players buried on the depth chart could walk into UT pretty easily.

Saw this on another board and found it funny...

I think Texas fans are getting their hopes up. Saban isn't leaving Alabama.

Funny, Herbstreit was just on 103.3 and said he's the one who saw the twitter report and called Mack to ask him about it, and Mack said he knew nothing about it, that he was in Miami recruiting right now. Of course that could be BS from Mack.

Herbstreit also swore that Saban wasn't going to Texas. Quote: "I know Nick Saban as well as anyone, and it's not happening."

Now I'm kind of skeptical that he really knows Saban as well as anyone, but he was very adamant about it.

Nick Saban - C - Crimson Tide
TCU beat writer Stefan Stevenson cites a source "close to Texas executive council of regents" that says Alabama's Nick Saban will be Texas' next head coach.

The buzz has been there for some time, and this only adds to it. Saban is notorious for hoping from job to job, so it is time to take the rumors seriously. Another report, from NFL.com's Gil Brandt, stated Alabama and Saban were in contract talks to reach the $7 million level.

People people people...... he is currently negotiating a new deal with Alabama. All he's doing is using Texas as leverage.

I hope I'm wrong. I really do. But I just don't see him starting fresh in Austin. He (his agent) just enjoys spreading rumors to up the ante.

Saban doesn't need to use other schools to up the ante though. This is definitely getting interesting.

While it would be very interesting I'll wait until I have a more reliable source than "IT guy with pen name Jesus Shuttleworth" before I start to think its gonna happen.

BP, .. I was joking with friends the other day that someone should tell Saban, "you have accomplished everything there is to accomplish in College football. You have done it all !! "

"Yes, you have done it all Nick, .. everything buuuuuuuuuuuut, .. you have never brought your home state school to the top of the college football world."

"The state where your family lives, where you grew up, where you played high school ball."

"Bet you can't do it Nick, .. bet you aren't good enough to bring WVU to the top." (use a little reverse psychology)

LOL !

Not a whole lot that Saban has to prove as regards being a coach. Outside of being a successful NFL coach. AND I question if he can ever be one.

I don't believe that Saban is the guy for Texas but I could easily be wrong. I'll say this. Saban has had a new contract on his desk that would pay him 7 Million a season since last Friday. His agent has advice him not to sign it yet. There is a reason Sexton has not given the go ahead on this. I believe that Saban is interested in Texas and does want to go to Texas. I believe that Saban is about done in Alabama, in so far as ruling the SEC. I believe he is at a point where he will see much stiffer recruiting competition from Sumlin and Malzhon and Fisher and Golden. I believe that Saban knows that it's only a matter of time before Florida has another HC and once that happens, they are going to be the Florida of old once again. The SEC was down this year but the SEC is going to be back with a vengeance very soon. I think Saban knows this and he's ready to move on.

JMO but I think think there is truth to it.

I told yas weeks ago that Saban's wife got caught house shopping in the Austin area :)

Well, that and Saban said he doesn't like staying in one place for too long. And he can win 3 National Championships with 3 different teams. A feat that will probably never be replicated.

So you think someone with all of the skins on the wall that Saban has .. is now scared of the SEC?

Is this all opinion, or do you know more than what is out there?

Has nothing to do with scared. I think dominating the SEC recruit wise and riding roughshot over them are probably over for Alabama. I mean, it happens. We've watched it happen with Texas and Mack. Saban isn't stupid and for that reason, I do believe he's looking at Texas.

have to laugh at the idea of Saban being scared. What proof do you have that he should be with his record?

Have to laugh at anybody who would laugh at Saban being scared statement when I just said that's not what was said. Further, there is no such statement posted.

Have to laugh at anybody who would ask for proof when they obviously have trouble finding truth in their own posts.

I'm finished laughing now....................................................
