If you have ever heard him speak, he is very shy or has trouble with his thoughts. He could be accused of being very dumb but I doubt that. He is just different and not a social guy unless you are his friend, I would assume. He is not as bad as Leon Lett was but he is just a different kind of dude.

If the Cowboys are serious about s scenario BB describes, that serves to telegraph our draft-Dline and Dline.

I doubt we part ways with him. Jerry prides his cheap possessions. See Ron Leary for reference.

ive been saying for a while and in multiple threads that the Cowboys should tender DI for a first and try to flip him. I think it's less likely now but you never know.

Practice squad player -> potential first rounder

I stand by it almost every time.

This! Tender the 1st and you stack the odds in your favor. If someone wants to pony up some dough for Irving we get a 1st round pick. Of course, the problem with this scenario is we would like a high pick, not an end of the 1st round pick. Hopefully one of the bottom dwellers at the top of the 1st round needs a stud DT. The other problem is if we don't hit on the pick, as then we've lost a good DT and screwed the pooch on a high draft pick.

What maturity issues are those?
Not huge things but a few little things that make people wonder.

Things like the social media post on this thread which is incoherent.
The wearing of nipple rings during padded practices and complaining that it's painful. Then losing one on the practice field and making it known on social media.
Again, not huge deals. There may be other stuff we don't know about that happens inside the locker room that makes coaches wonder. There is also the PED suspension.

Stuff like this makes him different, but not a cancer by any stretch. I love his potential and would have no problem keeping him.

Jerry isn't letting this guy go.
He is a monster on the field and takes over games.

This is what happens when sports writers get tired of bashing Dez. Its going to be a long offseason.

David Irving will be a cowboys next year.
The draft nerds will just have to deal with it.

What's next, are we moving on from Zeke as well? Our two most talented players on this team......

I was listening to Spags and Broaddus a few minutes ago. Broaddus said he "had a feeling" the Cowboys would have no problem letting D. Irving go if another team offered a second round pick. I don't always agree with him but have to acknowledge he has obvious connections in the building. I was surprised by this as I have only heard the Cowboys were counting on him to be a big part of this defense moving forward. I personally want to keep him as I don't want to see the Nick Hadens of this world on this roster anymore. Stephen Jones said recently the D line was a high priority going into the draft. I wonder if there is some negative behind the scenes stuff regarding Irving we don't know?
his best spot is LDE. and Lawrance plays that spot. Irvin is not as effective from tackle position and you can't pay top money to two LDEs. we need to draft a 1-technique and move Collins back to 3-technique. and we still need to have a pass rusher from RDE, which we don't have. a high second round pick ( I assume at least that), would give us flexibility in the draft to move up and grab a special player.

He missed half the year and would have only one year left under contract (2018) and then a FA. So, yea, I'd take a 2nd for him. I doubt anyone is giving up a 2nd rd pick for a guy who was suspended, injured, and has only one year remaining under contract.

A 2nd the way this team picks #2's? Remember that's Jerrys pick. Irving would be a top 10 pick if the draft was today, he's that talented.

Expect he beasted the moment his cleats hit the field. Maybe youre right but I think hes as good as gone with a second round tender.

You think Irving would be a hypothetical, top ten pick today. I don't think any team would give a 2nd rd pick for a suspended, concussed, and one year remaining under contract. And we watch the same games. That is what makes discussing football so interesting.

Let me know what responses you imagine from GMs with a top ten pick in this year's draft. Hey, GM, how about you trade me your top ten pick in the draft and I will give you Irving. Straight up. What do you say?:lmao:

Broaddus does not get that type of inside info. He is just guessing.

He said numerous times one offseason that Marinelli was going to Tampa the following season. People believed he was getting inside info. He was obviously wrong.

They will have to pay him big money after next season. If someone gives up a 2nd for him, the Cowboys would get the money not spent on Irving AND the pick. It's not a bad deal for the Cowboys. They could use the money on a legit 1tech and still have the pick. Collins natural position is 3tech.
Id put a first on him and see if someone gives him an offer sheet. You arent locked into that compensation if someone wants to call and negotiate a trade for a 2nd.
