Would be very surprised if the Cowboys moved on from Irving. He’s had 11 sacks the past two seasons. In his first three games back from suspension this season he had 5 sacks which was the most in the league during that period. He can be very disruptive. The only real knock on him is he seems to disappear but he’s a young developing player who hasn’t reached his ceiling. Our pass rush really improved this season and he was part of the reason. He and DLaw provided a good one-two punch. It took DLaw 4 seasons to make the big jump he did. I certainly wouldn’t want to move on from Irving after only three seasons with the potential he’s shown.
That is why it has to be the 1st Round Tender.....talk of the 2nd Round Tender is silly

If a team wants him then make them pay............1st round pick, 12m+ in salary= RSmith and D Poe

Wow we can get a 7-10 sack guy for a silly second rd pick now.
If he wasn't suspended, Irving would be in double digit sacks this year. A second rd pick is not nearly fair compensation.

So for Irving, we would be able to get a rookie that's worse that Taco and wait 2-4 years for him to develop
Nice

Lot of red flags for Irving

If I get a 1st I take it and run to the Draft and get a LB and sign a DT with the 12m

Two for 1 and no head case, PED, domestic abuse, blond part and 4 game concussions

You also get the money thay would be required to sign him aftera 2018. That's probably 12M+ per.

You can sign a free agent for the 12M per and you get the 2nd round pick.

You're gonna let the most physically gifted athlete and the player with huge upside go for a ******** 2nd?

You gotta be kidding me. Please don't do that

it's incredible the amount of people who overlook this. I'm all for keeping Irving, I think he's a stud... but it's draftpick compensation along with the money you'd have had to spend on him.

Put it this way. For the holiday season you were looking for a nintendo switch. You finally found a store who had one and while you're standing in line to pay 300 bucks for it, someone offers you 200 dollars to let them buy it. You didnt sell it it for 200 bucks, you sold the rights to purchase it.

Excellent analogy.

You can take the $200 and get in line again. Even if they're sold out, you eventually get another one and then have the switch and the extra $200.

Well those have not carried over into his NFL career now have they.
If you are going to use this against him, go to every player that had an incident and use it against them. Lewis?
Who are you Goodell?
You are hilarious.

I was listening to Spags and Broaddus a few minutes ago. Broaddus said he "had a feeling" the Cowboys would have no problem letting D. Irving go if another team offered a second round pick. I don't always agree with him but have to acknowledge he has obvious connections in the building. I was surprised by this as I have only heard the Cowboys were counting on him to be a big part of this defense moving forward. I personally want to keep him as I don't want to see the Nick Hadens of this world on this roster anymore. Stephen Jones said recently the D line was a high priority going into the draft. I wonder if there is some negative behind the scenes stuff regarding Irving we don't know?

The scouts use Broaddus as a disinformation outlet and the coaches won't talk to him outside of the pressers. I give Spagnola more credibility in this type of thing and I don't give him much. Eatman is the one of that group to pay attention to.

IF this is true, I wonder if it has to do anything with Collins. He obviously performs much better at the 3T.

I thought Collins performed better at 1T. Bryan also mentioned concerns about trust issues with Irving.

This team will never learn. "We are going to build the right way, internally and through the draft." Then let one of the few players they've actually successfully coached up, walk. Is it any wonder this team has been floundering in mediocrity for decades? Idiocy at every level of the front office.

That's what I don't understand. To them building through the draft means drafting guys, waiting for them to develop and then letting them walk as soon as they've developed and when the contract is up and then filling the spots in with mediocre players off of other rosters. In other words, we're just essentially developing and auditioning guys for other teams.

The team that will likely sign Irving will be a contender. Imagine the patriots or steelers signing Irving and giving us a '1st rounder' or '2nd rounder' in return. I put those in quotes because that 1st is essentially a 2nd and that 2nd would essentially be a 3rd since they'd be picking at the bottom of the draft. In return, we get a Jerry Jones gamble or a guy who is merely ok. Sorry, no thanks.

People are clueless. Draft picks are gambles and you have to wait forever for them to develop. This team doesn't have forever, more like 2-3 years.

You build a team through high draft picks. Your banking on Irving staying out of trouble. I have my doubts. I take the for sure thing in a draft pick.

If this is true, and I do say if because Broaddus aint exactly a fountain of inside info................it makes me think there is stuff going on with him that the Cowboys are scared to give long term money to him.

Otherwise it makes no sense for a guy that was close to double digit sacks to just walk out the door for just a second rounder.

Like I said, must be some red flags in his background or they are scared he is going to get suspended again..........next PED infraction is 10 games, maybe that is what they are worried about. Maybe they think he is juicing and are scared he is going to get caught.

I don't know, just guessing here....but there is something going on behind the scenes, you don't let a possible double digit sack guy walk for a 2nd.
