Internet Explorer users 'have below-average IQ'

typical BS. How about most people do not care for all the fancy bells and whistles and just wants something simple that works. Claiming its because they are not smart is total GARBAGE; if anything it shows they have more common sense.

Speaking of browsers

nyc..did you get the new Firefox HD free wallpaper app in the Android market?

Holy awesome wallpapers. Check it out!

No I haven't. I currently use Astronomy Picture of the Day app to set my background. Looks pretty cool though.

My character is not *questionable*. There should be no questions about my horrendous character. If there are, I'm must not be trying hard enough. ;)

:D It makes our network really really secure, but really really boring. My users hate me. I block nearly everything that isn't work related.

Games
News
Sports
Social Networking
Dating Sites
PRON
Proxy's - (got some users think they smarter than us...ha)
File Sharing Sites
etc

Some users try and waiver around me and I LOL even louder. It's nice having the governors policy in my back pocket.

"Don't make me use this SUCKA!"

btw: I allow all kinds of things for myself. That's how us sysadmins roll.

You know...for "testing" purposes. :D

Better start blocking VPN too. Otherwise someone could be outsmarting you. :laugh2:

Isn't that the truth. Funny you say that. It came up again in our security meetings last week.

Users geting VPN access and not reading where it says...

Notice: You are responsible for your home computers while accessing the state WAN via VPN. If it comes to our attention that you are consistently having malware/trojan activity off of your VPN connection, you will immediately lose all priviledges for access.

Really not much we can do except turn off the accounts which show malware and bot activity.

Chrome at home works fantastic.

IE at work, just another reason to hate work.

Yeah I think the survey is BS.

However to your point about most people do not care about the fancy bells and whistles and just want something simple to work...that really better describes Chrome and some other browsers compared to the bloated IE browser.

Typical IE user! ;)

I think a lot of people just accept what they got with their computer and do not want to be bothered changing it as long as it works good enough.

People are actually PAID to study this nonsense? Who cares what browsers people use on the internet?

The damn PC ships w/ Internet Explorer preinstalled. It works. It isn't for everyone, but is is certainly fine when used by your NORMAL users from home and work.

Saying someone has a lower IQ because they use IE is laughable. I have worked with some seriously incompetent engineers using Firefox and Chrome.

Have to agree.

I disagree. It's the *normal* users who are the most likely to get viruses and malware.

Stop spreading crap, you're an IT guy. You should know better!

If you keep your PC updated w/ a solid AV pkg AND OS updates, you should be fine.

Granted I am assuming most are common sense users. This means you aren't the type to click Aunt Sue's spam emails asking you to send her $1500 via some skewed South African bank.

Then again.... what's your IQ, nyc? :lmao2:

Yes, and those people will find a way to get infected no matter what browser they are using.

I use IE most of the time and never have problems. But then again I'm in IT and know what not to do.

It's hard to believe the study results aren't a bit slanted or skewed for some reason.

This is likely some marketing company's marketing gimmick they could be selling to the browser companies for targeting specific demographics..

Or could just be silly.

My problem with it that it's not scientific because not everyone uses technology to the same degree. Some high IQ people may be flat out bored with technology...

It may be indicative of a "technological IQ", for lack of a better word. But no way is this indicative of using X browser means your IQ is higher.

That's just stupid.

You said normal users, not technically incline users. I walk into the other room and ask a broker if he updated his (insert software here) his response is: "what?"

The guy can write advanced formulas in Excel, but he doesn't have a damn clue about how *NOT* to get a virus.
