Hardy has been known for giving "interesting" interviews and saying oddball things.. that's part of his personality. Some might call him a little off, but he almost has a character he plays. Some of the local and national media hasn't quite caught up to it yet it seems. In general, once again the media's swarm policy that all Cowboys news, especially sensationalized, is ratings/click gold is on full display. Does Hardy need to be more responsible with his words or does the media need to be more responsible with their journalism?

Hardy said he picks pro bowl players by how attractive the women around them are.. what does that have to do with domestic violence? and coming out guns blazing.. many people own guns, football is a violent sport, this is a very common saying.. again.. are we saying if you own or support guns you support murder? really? People have to stop faking being offended by this nonsense and pretending it means anything other than what it obviously was intended to mean.

Hardy looks like he's still an elite DE, so I say sign him asap... As for his prior legal issues and whatnot, Bill Clinton did the exact same thing, except it was sexual assault instead of domestic violence... Anyway, Clinton was accused vehemently of sexual assault by multiple women during different periods of his life prior to him becoming president, but he was always able to bribe them and/or intimidate them so they'd recant their story... If a sadistic rapist like Bill Clinton can become POTUS, then I guess it's okay for Greg Hardy to play DE for the Cowboys...

I'd feel much better about our defense going forward if we could get him signed and signed early. Look at the kind of money Suh got. If Hardy keeps on racking those kinds of performances, some time is going to offer him exorbitant money. He actually wants to be here as well.

He's a beast, and he seems like he wants to be here. And you gotta know Jerry just loves him. The only question is how they can structure a deal and whether or not another team would make just a ridiculous offer to take him away. As of right now, if he doesn't do anything insane between now and the end of the year, we gotta be the front runners to sign him.

He is worth the risk, he has never been in trouble before Super Groupie

If he does get suspended for any reason the salary gets refunded and taken off the salary cap

Actually less risk than Dez or Lee with injuries

I couldn't care less if my players say dumb or non-PC things. It is what they do on the field.

Our owner is an idiot and says and does stupid things with women all the time and I'm supposed to care he called Brady's wife hot, a woman that gets naked for a living.

Exactly. He is paid to play and to practice, not for his sound bytes to the press.
What he brings to this team is obvious and extremely valuable. Sign him ASAP because it looks like his asking price is probably going to go up every week.

I think the majority of die-hard fans would agree with what Irvin is saying. Let the bleeding hearts object if they are so inclined. Sure, I'm concerned with being non-abusive and I'm hoping Hardy sees that as well. But being perfectly candid, however, I'm also concerned with the welfare of the Cowboys. Locking Hardy up for several more years would very likely help ensure the continued success of our defensive line. If we don't do so, it's for sure some other team will. Personally, I'd really hate to see that happen.

Well, Jerry's the owner. If he was an executive, he would have been fired a long time ago.

And no, you're not supposed to care about what Hardy says. This is not about you. This is about whether or not the Cowboys should risk signing Greg Hardy to a huge long term contract after multiple PR gaffes and one good game.

Oh no, he called a football player's wife who models lingerie as a living, attractive. Brady was more likely to give him a fist bump than feign outrage like the media did.

There's nothing he said that was inappropriate and anyone who thinks so is either incredibly sheltered or takes BSPN as gospel.

That's fine, but it's immaterial. The point here is that an employer of a major brand asked their employee to stop making them look bad for signing him. He failed. All he has had to do is go out there and say boring football speak like he is coached to say. "Brady is a tough competitor. I look forward to playing against him." The end. No bad publicity. He can't do that, so he is either stupid or insane.

Who knows what else he can't control. Do you want to risk that kind of potential dead cap money on a guy who can't do something as simple as give a boring interview? If he can stop being an idiot, then yes, sign him. But until then, they should wait and see if they can trust him.

And I bet that's exactly what they are going to do.

Too soon for a long term contract. Let's see where we are at at the end of the season.

Greg Hardy is not George Selvie. All he did Sunday was remind everyone of the NFL player he was before sitting out last season. Hardy is a legit elite DE. His value will only go up. Plus by next March assuming Hardy hits FA, more teams will be involved in trying to acquire him which will only make it harder to get him signed.

That is true about die hard fans wanting Hardy resigned, but fans don't make good GMs. That's why Jerry sucked for so many years.

A huge contract for Hardy is a huge risk. Major contracts are always a huge risk, but with Hardy it's even worse. I loved the one year signing of Hardy. I would love another one year signing. But to give him the JJ Watt money he's going to want? No way. Not right now. He would have to prove to me that he can be a team player, and that includes no distractions, no suspensions, no problems.

The Dallas Cowboys organization is a company, a major brand first and foremost. For us, they're our beloved team. But in reality, anything that is going to hurt that brand will be rectified. Usually, it's only about wins and losses. But lately, we have seen the Ravens, Panthers, 49ers, Vikings have problems with their image. I don't want that to happen with the Cowboys with a huge cornerstone player. It's ugly, and it can lead to a ton of dead cap money.

I mean, do any of us think the Panthers didn't want to resign Hardy? They wanted to, but it would have made them look terrible. The Ravens wanted to keep Rice. They couldn't. If Hardy can't just give a boring interview, then what else can't he refrain from doing? Before last game, Hardy had done nothing for the Cowboys other than hurt the brand. Now he has one great game and all the fans are opening up their fantasy checkbooks.

True die hard fans want the Cowboys to be good for many years to come, and they don't think knee jerk decisions are a good way of doing that.

He is an elite player at a premium position sign him immediately. Idc about political correctness if it offends ppl idc. The law saw fit to drop charges so thats good enough. We are a nation of laws, we dont have to agree and according to law charges were dropped, everything else is just noise

Every game he plays he will have more leverage in the contract.
Sign him now while he is still tainted and save millions.
There is no doubt about his ability. Start the process NOW.

The DV case won't even be a factor in negotiations if he makes it to free agency assuming no further legal issues. While there may be some teams that choose not to pursue. there will be enough teams bidding purely on the player.

Way to early. I think he is a loose cannon. Although if he plays well throughout the year and doesn't have any problems you really need to strongly consider resigning him this offseason. I think the bigger question is, if he is very productive this year do you give him a Suh Type contract? That is what he and his agent is going to be looking for. I think that gets really dicey. With him appearing to be a little off and the usually poor returns with these huge contracts, I would probably shy away.

If he keeps this up over the rest of the season, i'm sure his agent will be all about letting the bids roll in.

Pure business decision.

However, he could surprise us all and stay here due to Jerry giving him a chance.

Yep, He is not going to sign on .50 cents on the dollar now. He has a chance to make a lot of money if he plays really well this year. And if he does, he is going to be looking for top Defensive line money in his next contract. He may like Dallas and Jerry, but if that is the case Dallas will need to pay market rate for him to keep him.
