Is anyone excited about this coming football season? (leave jerry out of this, please).

Is there any excitement that you feel good about that happened with this team this past year? What part did you like best about this past team that might get you excited about this years team? Was there anything that made you proud of the Cowboys?

(don't be talking about the cheerleaders)...

What did you as fans take out of this past year that gets you excited for this coming season?

These are not hard questions.

Im as stoked now as ever. Im probably among the "Kool Aid drinkers" but I was glad to see:
A offensive line that looked good and will probably be nothing but better next year.
The way Murray has emerged as a legit RB.
Romo play a little less conservative and that his back injury, in terms or common NFL injuries, isnt a career ending type.
There is no freakin way the defense can be any worse. lol
Lee will need to show that he can be just as productive while staying healthy.
There may be something worth looking at in Holloman

I know there are some serious doom and gloomers, but I feel as optimistic as ever.

Next Season: They have the resources to get better players in both Free Agency and the draft if they make the correct decisions.

2013 achievements leading to 2014: Many young players were able to get valuable snaps (Fred, Leary, TWill, Beasley, Wilcox, Heath, Holloman, etc..). The more young players that get experience, the better the chance that more of them develop into legit NFL players. The Cowboys have had too many stopgap veterans in the past that received the valuable snaps but had no upside for the future.

Proud of them: With the exception of 1 or 2 players, they played to "110 percent" of their ability.

The OL was improved and it seemed like penalties were down a bit. Doug Free rebounded nicely. We still need another guard or so and probably a better swing tackle than Parnell/Weems. Still, next year our core will be another older and with the same coaching staff in place its difficult to see major improvement.

I always get excited for next season because I love football and I love the Dallas Cowboys.

Want to see what Murray can do with a 25-30 carry game next year, draw up more mismatches for Escobar, use Dunbar like we started to do against Oakland on Thanksgiving, throw Dez on the left, right, slot, even out the backfield, (our Ivy League play-caller should be smart enough to draw something up.)

....on defense, I just want us to continuously get off the field lol..asking alot considering what we did this year!

....However I can't bring myself to think we'll be anything but 8-8 next year, want better, but I won't expect it.

I think our offense is OK, although we might need a receiver to replace Miles, and do need OL depth and another dependable running back who can help DeMarco keep the chains moving. (It appears to me for some reason we have a predetermined number of touches for Murray, and we're afraid to use anyone else unless he isn't playing at all or takes himself out of the game.)

When we get a few new defensive players, Monte and Rod should be able to improve our D enough to get us to 10-6 and into the playoffs. We just need a few more timely stands that turn touchdowns into FGs, and it will make a big difference.

nope, I think this organization is okay with mediocre, I think the fans are getting used to it. Its sad for me to say that, but i dont know what else to say. Am excited for next year, dont know until the offseason is over. Do we make the correct changes, do we have talent. did we bring in new talent.

We already know we are playing behind the 8 ball and we already know two incompentent people are keeping their jobs. So that right there sets the ground for defeat. Now can some coaches rally, or make certain changes, we shall see. Can we accidently get an OC whos good enough to score a TD despite Garrett than stand on the sideline and say "dare me to give it back" I hpe we do, but i dont have faith we do.

OL.

Redzone scoring.

Young receivers: Dez, T-Will, Harris, Bease and Escobar will be something.

Excited to see what a healthy Dunbar can add to the offense.

Guys we signed to 2 year deals: Selvie and Hayden should add to DL depth.

The probable loss of the last of the me first guys: Austin and Hatcher.

The entire 2013 draft class and UDFA. And that includes the whipping boys: Escobar, Wilcox and Heath who all played better than they are being credited for.

This is a post draft post but what the hell....

Another year with marrinelii

I think people forget when you change a defense your normally horrible. The injuries almost gave us an excuse

Jason Garrett I consider a positive not because I like or favor him but I just don't want another coaching turnover

Harris is a plus he stepped up big time

The one thing I am excited for is miles vs Terrance if we don't drop miles we will have a nice competition in training camp either Williams pushes miles out or miles fights for the 3rd spot either Way justice will be served

I get that sense as well. It used to be that only getting to Super Bowls would be considered a success.

Today, Jerry is just looking for that elusive 9th win to get that home playoff game and the extra revenue that goes with it. That's good enough to keep the fan base interested and the turnstiles churning at AT&T.

Jerry isn't interested in winning 12-14 games every year like the Patriots are. There's not enough upside in it for him from a financial standpoint.

Winning consistently is secondary. Being "competitive" and "entertaining" is good enough.

Ware, Witten and Romo are all a year older, they were the fabric of the Dallas Cowboys and they are beginning to fall apart at the seams. Injuries say a lot about where a team is headed. Hopefully not 5-11, that won't land the Franchise.

Positives....a chance to land the next great QB in 2015. Or one more run at .500 with the Seamstress.

Is anyone excited about this coming football season? Yes. I'm always excited to watch my favorite team play.

Is there any excitement that you feel good about that happened with this team this past year? Yes -- a lot of my excitement comes from seeing this offensive line grow into possibly the best in football down the stretch, particularly with run blocking. Also, scoring in the red zone, penalties down, and opening-drive points being 2nd in the NFL.

What part did you like best about this past team that might get you excited about this years team? The offensive line and DeMarco Murray, no doubt about it.

Was there anything that made you proud of the Cowboys? Despite having a terrible defense, in Week 17 they held their own when nobody gave them any shot and showed a ton of heart. And, almost beat the vaunted, media-darling Philadelphia Ducks with Kyle Orton at QB. Very proud.

What did you as fans take out of this past year that gets you excited for this coming season? The coaching staff and front office appear to be on the same page with fixing the trenches on this team. The offensive line could still see improvement at the RG and RT spots, but for all intents and purposes I think we can call it "fixed." I am excited to see the steps taken in this regard on the defensive side of the line of scrimmage at DT and DE.

This. Good or bad, I will always support my Cowboys!

I am excited about:
  • Another season.
  • 2nd-year players, especially Williams, Escobar and Holloman.
  • A new d-line (through the draft and FA) to include Crawford and Bass.
That's it.

Great thread and great responses and posts.
Not sure I can add anything to it, as I think along the same lines. OL improvement, young players getting experience., the DL will be addressed in the draft, possibly FA.

I'm always ready for the next season to begin, right after the end of a season, no matter what the results or where we finish at. Rather 8-8 or winning a SB.
And it's not too early to do this. As after FA, then the draft, it's something to discuss and re-evaluate possible improvements.
