Is anyone excited about this coming football season? (leave jerry out of this, please).

Is there any excitement that you feel good about that happened with this team this past year? What part did you like best about this past team that might get you excited about this years team? Was there anything that made you proud of the Cowboys?

(don't be talking about the cheerleaders)...

What did you as fans take out of this past year that gets you excited for this coming season?

These are not hard questions.

Not now. We're into playoff football. The best teams fighting for a championship. That is exciting.

Then the march madness starts. And the Winter Olympics.

After that I'm looking forward to spring and summer vacations and nice weather.

I won't even be getting geared up for next football season until mid August.

As of this moment I'm not excited... The key players are starting to rapidly decline. However if a new fierce front 4 is brought in on defense, I could change my mind. I'm scared to death about Romo's back and unless we draft 2-3 stud WR's, we need to stop the 40 passes a game. We have the personnel for a balanced attack, not the NFL version of Texas Tech.

I'd be in favor of Norv or someone that actually demands the run be emphasized.

The last three have been pretty thrilling so they will be hard to beat but I'm anxious to see if they can keep it going next year.

Things I'm optimistic about:

*Tyrone Crawford coming back from injury. I wanna see what this kid can do in this scheme. He seemed like a project player, and while he's had a setback here, I think him playing in a more natural role for him may be a huge benefit.

*The offensive line. Frederick is already one of the best centers in the league. If his pass protection gets better, he'll probably be the best.

*Some dead weight players may be leaving. Not as many as the great purge between 08-09, but still enough to get excited about a more youthful roster again.

And really that's about it. I'm still doom and gloom, but I won't bring your thread down.

Same HC that allowed us to abandon the run repeatedly. In order to overcome that, we will need a much better defense so we can go into the 3rd quarter with a bigger lead to blow. I am of the opinion that we had a good enough team, even with injuries, to get to the postseason. Our HC failed the talent and the actual execution that was taking place in-game with the players we had. Unless he has learned his lesson, which he didn't show in games after even stating that they needed to run more, I don't hold much hope of greatness next year.

Absolutely. The offense really improved in 2013 and that should continue. The big thing I'm stoked about is the defense. A lot of resources will be spent upgrading the talent and I can't wait to see who we get.

I'm always excited about the next season, even if I have no realistic reason for that excitement.
I would like to see how this team would perform if they went an entire season relatively healthy, if that's possible with their current lineup.

First of all a) I love football and b) I've been a massive diehard Cowboys fan for 38 years. So I'm excited for football season all the time.

Objectively am I excited about THIS team compared to other years in my fandom? Not really. I think this was a year to get things done with the division and with the talent we had on offense. I thought the draft was subpar because I wanted D players like line and safety and I bit us. Now we enter a year with a Romo injury, some serious cap issues and an aging team that hasn't been able to get over the top. I'm not a Garrett fan but am a Romo fan so I really want someone to use him properly before he is used up. I guess I'm what you call wary because Jerry seems more concerned with being right, right now vs. "hey let's get this team to the top." I also think it says a lot when an owner talks about your coach being in training and that .500 is somewhere around good enough for playoffs in the future. I expect expectations to be set a little higher instead of talking them down to us like we are dumb and will accept it. I think predictions are useless but I will throw out 6-10 next year with a hope that I eat a lot of crow and I'm completely wrong. I'm not hating, just looking at the trend. I love the team but not happy with the current direction. JMO.

If you wanted my plusses....DeMarco looked like a top 5 back when used, some street guys stepped up and the O-line held up decently well.

I'll be excited when JG is fired.

But the season we have to endure to get there will not be fun.

Not hard questions..easy answer.

No.

Until Garrett is gone..there is not going to be any improvement.

Unfortunately..

..this team has so many needs at any position..just name it

..that until this team loses big and gets a top 3 pick in the draft..

and picks the best player available with that pick..

..not some bargain-basement player who drops 20 spots due to injiuries, or can't read the playbook or whatever..

..we don't get better.

Had to do that with drafting Aikman and then Walsh to get it going..

..then Russell Maryland the next year at #1 to rebuild the defense...

we are going to sink deeper in the quicksand, folks.

Wow, feel a little guilty since I don't feel nearly as excited as most of the posters thus far in this thread.

Negatives:

Romo = Big fan, but his back has me really concerned. At his age, he would probably be starting on the decline anyway. Add a bum back, and it gets worse. I can't see any real scenario where Romo will get BETTER next year as opposed to this year. Since he is the main cog of the offense and with most of our off-season resources going to defense (they should at least), I can't imagine our offense getting better, just worse.

Garrett = Not a fan. He hasn't shown any ability to learn from his mistakes and grow as a HC. Don't trust him to run the ball more regadless of Romo's health.

Murray and Lee = Don't think they'll stay healthy.

Positives:

Unlike most here, I'm still holding out hope Ware can make a comeback of sorts. I think it's at least 50/50 he'll play at an elite or at least close to elite level next year (if we keep him).

Draft = always look forward to our new players each year and hope they'll spark something with our team.

Defense = with new blood, should improve a bit, maybe even quite a bit. Keeping fingers crossed.

Always look forward to a new season, but got to admit this is the least excited I've ever been as a fan. Jerry and Garrett are limiting my enthusiasm way too much.

Sorry to hear it. I still think he can be a good coach but his time is running out.

On another note: Gru's Crew? :p

I look at the Cowboys the way I look at life: Today may suck but tomorrow is another day.
