Is AOA still supposed to become our FS?

we need to stop drafting players to play in positions they have never played before. it's hard enough to play in the NFL, let alone learn a new position.

Tons of NFL teams run a 3-4. Not so many college do.

How exactly are you going to pull that off again?

Or was he ever supposed to?

I need AOA details. GIVE THEM TO ME.

What I recall is that he was a college CB that we were planning to use as a safety, and I haven't heard anything contrary to that. Thats what he was playing before he got hurt.

But it sounds like you may b asking if he is supposed to be our FS next year - as in the starting FS, and the answer is that depends on if he can prove worthy. Certainly that hasn't been determined yet.

Hopefully we will have a real DB coach this year so we can see what AOA, Scandrick, and Jenkins really have.

I'm all for getting rid of Campo, but do you really think AOA was destined for anything big as a rookie, or all those misreads and misplays Jenkins made were Campo's fault?

and was the quality play of Jenkins in 09 a credit to Campo? I have no problem with Ryan brining in the guy he wants but I don't think Jimmy hired Campo because he was a lousy coach.

Not all of it but most of it. I hope the 10 yd cushions are gone. There was nothing I hated more than seeing our cbs give up 1st downs simply because they were so far off the wr. That was Campo. I'm also tired of missing ints because the cbs are watching the wr instead of playing the ball.

That 10 yard cushion was used depending on the defense being called there were plenty of times CB were up on the line as well.

Another good point. Also the coach Darren Woodson and others developed under. It's always the coaches fault though, isn't it?

So, Campo was a great coach last year when Jenkins played so well, but was a lousy coach this year?

I hope we have coaches that hold players to a higher standard of accountablity than you do, because crediting the players when they do well, and blaming the coach when they don't is a lousy way to run a team.

As for the CB's playing back, you apparently don't understand how it works. Campo isn't making decisions on how to play guys independent of the game plan or the D-Coordinator. He uses the CB's in the manner the D-Coordinator dictates in accordance with how he sees the coverage in relation to the defense as a whole. Camp isn't just winging it.

How many times did we see the opposite? They start off up close to the line then back away ten yards.....easy first down.

I just want to see our cbs harassing wrs off the line and making easy ints.

Instead we get 10 yd cushions and grabbing wrs as they run by.

Nor is he getting through to this group of players and getting them to perform up to their talent level.

As unlikely as it is that Campo just forgot how to coach from 2009 to 2010, it's equally unlikely that every player in the secondary suddenly lost all of their God given. It's Campo's JOB to extract that talent from them and get them to play up to it. Therefore, he failed at his job. Time to see if someone else isn't better at the job.

If only Campo had a clue about AOA :bang2:

Not Campo fault AOA missed all of camp due to recovery from surgery. No one was really expect to see much out of him this past season

Like i said, I'm all for letting Campo walk and moving on. I agree that it was his responsibility to get players to play to their talent level, and he needs to move on. I just want people to be fair about it instead of taking extreme views and making inaccurate statements.

I respect that...and I am in the same boat as you

At time we did at time we ran zone and when you run zone you’re not going to be up on the line. CB playing up close or backing off has more to do with the coverage that is being called. There were ample times that both Newman and Jenkins were in bump and run but the defense that is called will dictate where they line up.

He is a good athlete. Expect him to be a returner and maybe do some nickel. It will be too hard to say whether he will be the answer at FS for us.

We will see what Ryan thinks of him and how he will be used. But he is a long ways away from being an every down player, unless he goes back to being a corner.

Ran a 4.32 at the combine. I sure hope he blossoms into our FS.

I agree. If a player does well he is a great player if he struggles that is the coaches fault. I doubt Jimmy Johnson hired Campo with the Hurricans and the Cowboys because he felt Dave was a bad coach. Like you I have no issue with Ryan getting his own people in here and letting Campo go but some act as if Campo does not know what he is doing?

This is the truth. People get so pumped up to point fingers they don't bother to worry if there is any truth to their words.

First thing is AOA was a rookie. Second is he was a college CB transitioning to safety in the NFL. Third, he was hurt in preseason. 4th is he got hurt during the regular season.

With the facts in mind are people serious about saying Campo should have been able to get more out of AOA?
