Is AOA still supposed to become our FS?

FYI, I already have an AOA jersey and I am planning on wearing it on Sundays this season.

IMO, he is still another year or two away from even being considered ready to take over as a fll time starter. He was raw coming out of college, missed almost all of the off season workouts and then a good portion of the season. That's a lot of time to miss for a guy that needed as much time as he could get.

He's an amazing athletic talent and has a good head on his shoulders. I'm sure he will pick it up quick but you can replicate on the field expierence.

Reminds me of Pete Hunter we drafted. Hope AOA has a better future than that.

don't remember hearing a thing in last years training camp. just how well Ball was playing...

His role should be exactly opposite of last years. CB is his position and backup S in an emergency.

All we ever saw of him was on KR the first few games. His physical talents leapt out at you. He can cut sharply at full speed and he just flies. His measuables show up on the field because he clearly can get to a spot faster than most players on the field.

On the flipside, he clearly has not adjusted to the speed of everyone else in the game. He would make cuts but be at the wrong angles. Instead of cutting through he would often cut up on top of someone.

The regular crew loved to hammer him about it.

He needs reps which makes sense. We have seen basically nothing of him in the secondary so people making claims to his effectiveness in the defensive backfield are talking out their ***.

I also doubt that more than 2 people in the whole forum have seen anything other than the 2 or 3 youtube highlight reels because he went to Indiana U of Pennsylvania.

He is still a very intriguing prospect and no S prospect shot of Peterson or Moore is clearly going to be a better one in this draft.

If Tanard Jackson was not an idiot i would say go and get him but I am liking what people have been saying about Weddle.

you know what's funny though? watch Kwasi and then watch Devin McCourtney's workout. Kwasi looks much more fluid and has better quickness in and out of breaks - but McCourtney has balled out of control this year.

I've watched Akwasi Owusu Ansah play in every single game in college and I know how to say his name correctly without even stumbling (not that it matters but just felt like letting you gentlemen know). I know what Akwasi can do and I know he is gunna ball it up (not Alan "Ball") in the future.

Should AOA stay healthy, I am positive Rob Ryan can find a role for him on defense.

Can somebody create an AOA poll regarding who thinks he is gunna be a starter within the next 2 years and who doesn't?

I would love to prove all the doubters and am willing to bet on it somehow.

I see your viewpoint, and I respect that. But I dunno whether its a gut feeling or I just have seen more of Akwasi Owusu-Ansah than you folks...

Theres no denying that I am big on him...but then again I was big on #42 back in the day, Pete Hunter, and he was similar to AOA in terms of coming from a small school, being a 4th round pick, and possessing some serious intangibles.

I'm still gunna go with my gut feeling though.

This is one of my fav threads created on Cowboyszone. AOA is one of my favorite young guns on the boys and I think he has a legitamite shot of becoming one of the best secondary players on this team. I almost see him becoming a Tramon Williams type of player. I think he should get some reps this season but I'm still patient on the guy I'm willing to name our savior ever since the retirement of Darren Woodson.
He was a man amongst boys in college. And yes I know he was kinda the big fish in a small pond, but I still think Akwasi Owusu-Ansah will make a name for himself here based on what I've seen from him. Based on measurables, work ethic, and smarts for the game, I think we have ourselves a gem.

Akwasi Owusu-Ansah will be the man here in Dallas. If only our team wasn't so reluctant to throw some new guys in there. We truly won't know what we have in our guys until we give them a shot. AOA is a smart guy and I am confident he will adjust to whatever he needs to. Let him adjust to the gamespeed and he will be awesome. I'm willing to bet my house on it!!!!

I think we hafta give Akwasi Owusu-Ansah a LEGITAMITE shot at winning the starting FS job. If we went out and got a guy like Mike Huff I wouldn't cry about it, but I would be dissapointed because it really would hamper the future progressions of AOA.

AOA is gunna be the man out here in Texas. I know yall gotta see it to believe it, but man this guy will be our savior in the secondary.

One reason why I like the signing of Rex Ryan (if he actually does sign that is...) is the fact that he let's his young guns get reps in games. He likes rotating guys around and experimenting with different personnel; and I think that will truly benefit Akwasi Owusu-Ansah.

Trust me folks, right now I may be getting the stone faces, but I know a good player when I see one. I've watched him in college, he's an intelligent young man who can grasp boatloads of knowledge, and he has that "it" factor in my opinion that you don't see out of just anybody. Yeah yeah yeah I know he didn't do much in the return game so many of yall say "was this guy sposed to be an athlete???", but trust me folks!

Folks, Akwasi Owusu-Ansah is a straight up GEM. I've watched him play enough and know he is a smart footballer with natural instincts. Hes got the speed, hes got the smarts, hes got the dedication. I KNOW this guy will be the real deal and its not like I'm counting on faith.

Akwasi Owusu-Ansah is the answer to all our woes at the Safety position.

And to those of you wanting to grab Brodney Pool, I'd take back Lynn Scott over Pool in a heartbeat.

Signing Nnamdi Asomugha and starting Akwasi Owusu-Ansah would be 2 of the biggest upgrades I have seen a franchise make in a secondary for quite some time

Both of these are comments fans would do well to think about. The bottom line is that, like with Pete Hunter, AOA has enough size and physical ability to be intriguing and provide hope that he can develop into quality player, but like Pete Hunter it's simply not assured that he will. People like jumping on bandwagons though.
