because he suffered a debilitating injury, and one that directly impacted his greatest asset lol. along with that elite was used in the past tense. things happen, players regress.

and he was signed. by the ravens. just didn't have it anymore

why would i do that, when those three seasons are my entire point? obviously it didn't bear out, and i'm not saying that he maintained his play for the duration. but that he ... WAS... elite. during that stretch. there are tons of examples of guys who were elite, and then were not. due to injury or other factors, dez being one of them.

Nearly 1000 yards as a rookie with mostly backup QBs. And on pace for 1400 yards in his 2nd year. We can critique this and that about his game but you can't dismiss that production. Remember Dez didn't really come into his own until his 3rd year, so at this point I'd say CD is ahead of the curve.

So Jefferson may be better. I've said that in the past. But that doesn't mean Lamb is overrated. Both are studs and well on their way to being perennial top 10 or even top 5 WRs in the near future.

I dont even think Jefferson is better. I just think there are more mouths to feed here when Gallup is in the lineup. Dak and Lamb were killing it last season before Dak got hurt.

Cee Dee is better than Dez. His route running is night and day better and he can separate. He’s beating receivers on the deep balls he’s catching for touchdowns. The only deep balls Dez ever caught were contested jump balls. Dez never caught a deep pass where he was waving goodbye to the defender.

Dez was a TD machine but was the master at the jump ball. On Cee Dee’s winning TD in overtime you’re having to throw the ball up to Dez and he’s having to win a contested 50-50 ball. Similar to the play in Green Bay. Cee Dee runs past defenders and Dez had to out jump them.

If telling the truth constitutes crapping, then, I'm guilty. Dez relied upon his physicality, alone, to survive as a WR. It lasted only about 2 years before petering out. Towards the end, he became a liability and Jerry had to cut him. He could run 3 routes; that's all that he learned.

Cee Dee is coming off a career game with 9 catches for 149 yards and 2 TDs including the game winner in OT and someone is asking if he’s overrated? lol You would expect to see a thread like this after a bad game not a career performance.

"the only deep balls Dez ever caught were contested jump balls"

Every receiver has different attributes. Dez didn't have to be a speedster and blow by defenders because he was elite at high pointing the football, so any time he was 1 on 1 deep he was effectively "open". That is an elite attribute for a wide receiver to have. He also didn't have to be a route technician in the intermediate range because he had the strength to beat defenders off the line and was dynamic running after the catch, again, another elite attribute for a wide receiver to have. The funny thing is all you guys say is "route running" as if there isn't anything more to being a dominant receiver. In a league with Calvin Johnson, Julio Jones, and Antonio Brown, three HOFers, Dez at his peak was considered pound for pound the best when he was selected first team all pro in 2014. No, Cee Dee hasn't eclipsed that level of play, but we can hope that one day he might.

The first one was a busted coverage they just let him run free. You were only able to come up with one video with him running past a defender on a deep ball. Cee Dee’s already had two this season.

CD is the man, not over rated. Jerry had a little Lamb whose routs were as good as gold and every where the ball was thrown the Lamb was sure to go. lol

This is stupid.. I could find you a dozen videos of Dez outrunning defenders with and without the ball and you'd still have some rationale for it. Dez had TD catches of 85, 79 and 68 yards... Pssst.. none of the QBs he has played with has been able to throw a jump ball 70 yards down the field. There is no need to make up false narratives about "he only caught jump balls" to bolster your point. There was a time when Dez could outrun most DBs.. but he was consistently doubled because.. well because he was Dez. So on many of is long TDs he had to beat the corner then break a tackle or outrun the safety. Which he did with regularity. I'm not sure what the need is to minimize that guy. He was an absolute beast..

There’s some tape of him out running defenders. Once on this punt return for TD. The point is he seldom separated as a receiver on deep balls. Most of them were contested 50-50 balls. Early in his career he had some speed but he was never a good route runner.

just because somebody else is better than CD, doesn't mean CD is bad....it means Jefferson is better.....

And I still don't care.. Now you've shifted from "he only caught contested 50/50 balls" to "most of them were contested 50-50 balls".. You can keep shifting the goal posts around to be "right" all you want.. The main reason Dez didn't have a lot of wide open TDs is teams nearly always kept a safety over top of him because very few teams had a corner they felt could handle him one on one. The recurring theme on Dez's long TDs was beat the corner, catch the ball, break the tackle and either outrun or outmaneuver the safety. Cee Dee has the benefit of that other guy drawing the double most of the time. After about year two Dez didn't have that.
