Is Dak officially the best QB in the NFC?

We know the AFC..... Burrow, Allen, Jackson, Mahomes

But before the year started we heard..... "besides Jalen Hurts, Dak should run this conference." With one more game left to play, it seems that's exactly how it played out. He ran the entire NFC top teams besides the Niners.

I get the argument for Purdy, but the Ravens game really shined some light on things. I don't think he's as good against good teams as 49ers fans like to say. He struggled against the Browns too. Plus, I put Dak over Purdy because his arm is stronger, and he's more built to last long. Purdy is kinda soft, and I don't think he's gonna last long. One more injury and he's probably done. Plus that 92 yard TD pass to Lamb.
Give Dak a strong running game with a Christian McCaffrey type back and his TD numbers go up due to the effectiveness of Playaction.

In this scenario the Dak haters will be quick to point out that Dak is a product of the “system” and running game.

If you believe the other players on both sides of the ball have zero input in winning and losing, so this comes down to the 9ers winning three in a row and that addresses the Dallas QB, my suggestion would be to ignore these types of threads.

Swap the QB's and tell me how the press would be heralding Dak as the MVP about mid season and Purdy wouldn't be in the discussion.

Just that one play ESPN held as the gold standard where Purdy rolled to his right and threw a TD while in open space, versus Dak shedding a safety and moving right to throw a 92 yard TD isn't comparable.

Dak is a growed up man and Purdy looks like a guy who couldn't make the cheerleading squad for Deion's Colorado team. Dak's physical traits overshadow Purdy completely. That's why he brushed off that linebacker.

Sheesh, the myopia on this subject with the tunnel vision about one player versus the entire team has leapt to new heights of ridiculousness.
Dak's 92 yard bomb was more impressive than that Purdy play.

Purdy had more open space. He simply ran backwards to open ground and then rolled right. Dak had bodies all around him in every direction and still got out and created a 92 yard play.

At this moment in time he is playing the best.

He is doing more with way less than Purdy has so that has to be factored in
But he should be. No one has been in their job longer. No one has better facilities. No one has had more support or better teams than Dak. He's consistently provided with good talent around him...3 all-pro lineman during most of his career with some GREAT offensive lines. He had Amari Cooper, CeeDee and pre-injury Gallup on the same team...so it's not like the cupboard was bare.

Dak should be among the best in the NFC given the other QBs that are injured and the investment. It what makes the last 2 years so damning...

Dak is 0-3 against Purdy the last 3 times the teams have played, and played really bad in each game. And you think Dak is better?
Pretty good point right there. Yeah I know team sport. But...........

Probably. It's laughable how terrible the NFC QBs are compared to the AFC QBs.

AFC top 8:

1. Mahomes
2. Burrow
3. Allen
4. Herbert
5. Lamar
6. Stroud
7. Tua
8. Lawrence

NFC top 8:

1. Dak
2. Purdy
3. Hurts
4. Goff
5. Stafford
6. Murray
7. Cousins
8. Mayfield

Anyone would take the top 8 from the AFC over anyone from the NFC.
This is just stupid. Dak is currently considered a top 3 QB. Nobody is taking all those AFC QB's over Dak or Purdy. That's just idiotic.

Lots of teams have all those components. What the Cowboys do is avoid going 3-12 or something like the Niners or Eagles, forcing a rebuild.

But besides that, nothing different between what the Cowboys have and what the Niners, Packers, Rams, and Eagles generally have.

Every argument you made against Purdy you can make against Dak

It’s close between them. Purdy has much more help. Especially in the run game and on the sidelines
If yo are going by QBR than Purdy is better but not by much. In fact both Purdy and Dak has the highest QBR this year regardless of conference. As you said Purdy has a lot more help than Dak.

Best can be looked at as performing the best, or best overall QB. I will still vote for Purdy by a slight margin because of they HC and system he is playing in. As much as I was on the MM bandwagon a few weeks ago, his clock management issues have reared their ugly head again, and Dak seems to be doing what he is despite him. If you put Purdy on this team, I don't think we have this conversation...likewise, if you put Dak on the 9ers would Shanahan hold him back and not allowing him to play to his full potential? So basically I have no clue, and there doesn't seem to be anybody else right now even in the conversation

Right now I would take Dak and Purdy over some of them due to their availability. Burrow and Lawrence are both our with injuries. Can't get any pub if you are in the tub as the saying goes.

Love is tied with Dak for the league lead with 34 total TDs. Considering his WR1 (Watson) has missed half of the season and their WR corp is the youngest in the past 50 years (modern era of NFL) you have to place him near the top of the list in the NFC already. Will be interesting to see what his ceiling is.

Not sure "best" is the right word.

He just has more mojo this year.

That can change year to year.

What if Goff and the Lions REALLY goes on a tear next year and he is having MVP numbers. Does that mean all if a sudden he's "better" than Dak, Purdy or Hurts? Or did the Lions as a team just all sync at the right time and they just had a magic season from which Goff was the beneficiary?

I think those top 3 or 4 NFC QBs are all in the same general ballpark, and any one of them could have the best season in 2024, and then a new one in 2025, and then in 2026, etc. If you could somehow put all 4 on identical teams, with identical coaching etc, where the only single variable was the QB, I think alln would function very similarly

Guess we'll see how things turn out in a few weeks.
We may see how things work out for our QB in our 1st playoff game. May be more interesting than folks think.

Dak's 92 yard bomb was more impressive than that Purdy play.
Why? He didn't throw it to himself and the ball wasn't in the air for 92 yards. And then the defender fell down allowing an easy TD.

Well said. Until yesterday, Baker had better #'s than Lamar. Trust me, he did.
