Is Dak Prescott And Kirk Cousins In The Same Class?

I agree on most counts. Positions on both Romo and Dak are too extreme.

Are the Cowboys really lucky to have Dak? Meh. IMO, positional scarcity isn't what it once was for QB. 2/3 of the NFL is fine with their QB situation. I'm glad Dallas doesn't have Quincy Carter as QB but there are certainly 10 or more QB's I would prefer over Dak when you include salary.

Alternative? Right now the Cowboys are being driven into a rebuild due to the salary situation. If I had power over the organization, I would try to trade Dak for picks and just do a full rebuild as the team clears Tank, Zeke and others off the payroll with the intent of coming out of it stronger in 2 years with a newly drafted QB. I kind of think Jerry is going to put the organization on a slow death spiral as he just restructures contracts to put together a relatively mediocre team. Is drafting a QB a guarantee? Of course not but I would rather see the team swing for the fences instead of shooting for 1 and out NFCE titles.
It's not positional scarcity as it is who's doing the picking. These people tried to get Lynch and were planning on taking Cook before they settled for Prescott. Prior to that, they lucked into Romo.

Aikman was a no brainer, even though Johnosn was entirely sold on him. Worst team in the league and without a QB has to take the QB first. That was the last time they actually took a QB in the 1st and because of Johnson doing the assembly, they surrounded him with a great team after almost getting him killed his rookie season.

Picking QB's is risky business to begin with, just ask the Jets.

I agree with there are other QB's you'd rather have but they are not available and won't be to the Cowboys.

You cannot go against the mental fixture Booger has on his center ring act, the QB. He got a bigger kick of the fans going nuts when Romo would do his Houdini act than actually winning a game. It's how he's wired as a promoter. You give him a team like the 00 Ravens or 03 Bucs and he's miserable, he has to have his stars on offense because that puts butts in seats and gets more media coverage than the best defenses ever built.

What do you think he's thinking while the young guns are blazing, Brady is having a terrific year fighting Rodgers for the MVP? He's thinking "they're talking about my QB and his slump more than any of them". That, is what is most important to him.

So, I do think we are lucky Prescott is our QB as long as that man runs the team.

Actually he's WAY better! Dak as a starter has an incredible record he just needs to get over the hump and win a super bowl.
How do they compare against the better teams? I think both leave a lot to be desired in that category.

That's league wide. Just like the stinger point people thought they had with "record against non division teams."
Kind of pointless anyway since it's a team statistic.

No. Only in your hate-filled biased mind.

McNabb. Used to be a tough runner, but not as much after a few years. Above average long ball, and so so on reading the field. Protected the ball decent, but just couldn't get over the holes of the team. I like Dak as a human better though.

In 2016, we all thought that Dak would be better than McNabb. Dunno if that will ever happen now.

The time to win with Dak was during his rookie contract.

That was of course wasted so Jerry could create his own perfect puppet coach.

Then he completely bungles the second deal by backing himself in a corner with no plan B anywhere in sight, and telling the world Dak was the man.

Then ask the agent for a discount just because.

Really, I'm not sure any of the above could have been handled any worse than it actually was.

And...THATS how you end up with an average QB for elite money.

Well done Jerry. At least we still have the "advantage" of having no middle man running things.

Once you realize Dak isn’t in the Elite category it becomes more evident he’s in the next best category which would include Cousins and about half of the leagues franchise QB’s which are good enough to build a team around.

Unfortunately there simply isn’t enough Elite QB’s to go around. And we’re at a disadvantage because our dysfunctional ownership over hyped and over pays our key talents. And undermines our HC with toxic culture.Far too many obstacles to overcome.

The Cowboys suk because of our ownership not our QB.

What's unfortunate, is that finding a good quarterback that is also a good on the field leader is obviously harder than just finding a good quarterback. We need a quarterback who will get mad and get his team to focus when they come out flat, since we are not getting leadership from the coaches.

Had we let Dak walk after the 2020 season, instead of Parsons at #12 we might have selected Mac Jones. After what we saw from those two players this season how many would have been okay with Jones over Parsons?
Me. Without a QB you're nothing

That’s going to be tough when the leadership from coaching isn’t there because of the dysfunctional meddling from ownership because it undermines everything.

Had we released or traded Dak we would be spending no telling how many years burning draft picks and going through castoff free agents trying to find a QB. The biggest hole on the team would be at QB and we would be wasting money and draft capital trying to fill it.
Cliche. Every team is different. The number of lesser QB's who've got to SB's is testimony of that.

Honest question here; as a QB, what measurable way has Dak been WAY better?

I'd say the playing field got more balanced when Cousins went to Minnesota for the last 4 years.

I know total team won-loss records are not at all the best way to measure one single player, but Dak does have a slight advantage in that area....as over his last 4 seasons his team has won 4 more games (lost 3 less) total than Cousins' team.
So that was very close on a team level.

But in QB measurables, they have been about the same or Cousins has been better in pretty much every category.

So WAY better really has no backing...for or against Dak.
In every way, they seem pretty close.

Fwiw, I'm in the camp that if almost everything goes well, both of these QBs could possibly win a title.

And they seem pretty close to all the others stats wise..again we have a good QB and did before this one also...Its crazy we have fans that still dont know what the problem is...its a 26 year huge bonfire setting everything in the room on fire as some still wonder.."Why can we not find that winning QB"...Find a winning GM and watch how fast you find a winning coach and then presto like magic your winning QB will appear!

one played on crappy teams with a bad offensive line while the other didn't. one lost one guy on the offensive line and the whole line was down.

burrows is laughing at the 40m plus guy.

You’re seeing fewer lesser QBs get to the Super Bowl these days because it’s much more of a QB driven league than it was years ago. Nick Foles was one of the lesser QBs to reach a Super Bowl and win it in recent years but he played outstanding and was the games MVP. You can’t win a Super Bowl these days with a QB who’s nothing more than a game manager. The two QBs that will be facing each other in the Super Bowl today aren’t lesser QBs.
