Is Dak Tradeable?

I doubt Jerry does that, and Dak holds all the cards due to his NTC.

But hypothetically...
The Raiders, haunted by the ghost of Al Davis decides to trade for him on June 2nd.
Stephen realizes by trading him his trust fund goes up a few mil.
Dak realizes he can build a Louis Vuitton Mansion in Los Vegas. The signs, they now add up. LV IN LV???

2026, Dead cap for Dak Prescott for Dallas is 34mil. Saving 40mil off his 74mil cap hit.
2027, dead cap accelerates for a 54mil cap hit. Still a net "savings" of 15mil.
Basically, only 14mil truly dead, accounting for complete rollover of his 26 cap savings.

For the Raiders:
2026 cap hit: 40mil
2027: 45mil
2028: 55mil.

That's the thread today???......are people actually watching games? Was there ever a pass defended last night? If this game were played in mud.....McCarthy's uniform only gets dirty because he ran for positive yards.....nothing else.
Its not just this thread thats the thing. Its this fanbase. They actually are naive enough to think that a QB change fixes things. I saw a couple of plays last night where Dak should have tossed it away and one where he missed flourney down the middle. But I saw multiple plays on the defensive side of the ball where their receivers were running wide open or McCarthy was scrambling for first downs or he could bake a cake in the backfield cause no pressure was made from our pathetic DL and no adjustment from our even worse Coordinator. (eburflus is pure garbage).and its been like that all year

We have to have the worst secondary in the league. Ill give Revell the benefit of the doubt because hes a rook and coming off a bad injury but he sucks.Ill give him another offseason. Bland is garbage to and listening to Collinsworth like hes so good was disgusting. And our LBs they also must be the worst in the league

But hey lets blame the QB who isnt going nowhere. Our bookend tackles are Horrid

I'm not saying that at all. I'm hyper aware of everything you correctly stated above. Good? Ok...got that out of the way. All I'm saying is since we do have so many gaping holes in said secondary for starters, should we go ahead and create more draft capital by trading him? It's purely just a hypothetical. I'm not one of these guys that post very often unless something is gnawing at me. I think it out.

Since Christmas is coming, and it's typical in the NFL that a QB gifts his O and blocking TEs........we may be talking a Walmart $9.99 watch (I have one) and maybe some movie tickets.......and call it a day.

That last thing you said isn't what I meant or said. We got plenty of holes to fill and blame to go around. Daks the one thing on this team that isn't broken. But he's a huge asset in any potential trade.

I'm not a let's trade Dak guy. In fact, he's been very good. But is it time to think about putting feelers out to see if we have any takers? To gage his value? I mean, we are sitting there already with premium picks, why not stockpile more? I think he has 2 years left on his deal. Is that contract something a team is willing to take on? I'm thinking maybe we should start over at QB now, since we are in transition mode. Give me your thoughts.
How many teams can even afford to take on his contract? The Cowboys would have to send draft picks with him just together a team to do it.

Dak is a top 10 quarterback. Yes teams would trade for him and pay his salary. The problem is he has a no trade clause plus he would kill the Cowboys salary cap.

No.

Nobody wants his contract and he has a no trade.

We’re more likely to extend him than ever see him play for a different team.
You are correct.
Unfortunately his contract will get added void years, if not an actual extension.
And he will be the QB for at least the 2026 & 2027 seasons.

Jerry just needs to bite the bullet, take the cap hit. Draft a QB. And move on ASAP.

I don't hate Dak, but not a fan either. But I am ready to move on from him now.
Draft a QB in 2026, more like 2027, depending who is available. And at least give the fans some hope of the near future.

3 years left on his deal and trading him would make you eat around $130m in cap space. That contract is simply horrific.
What if we swallowed 100m? Frees up 30m we otherwise would have to pay Dak. What f we included a couple of draft picks to sweeten the deal?

That sounds like something Jerry would love to do.

Per Spotrac trading him is only an $89M cap hit vs releasing him which would be the $130 number. The issue is that all hits on the 2026 cap so you'd basically be throwing in the towel for next year which may or may not be a smart way to go depending on your outlook.

If Dak was willing you would have plenty of people who would want him. The team trading for him would have him for 2 years 85m. The thing is I do not know if Dak would be willing to wave his no trade clause and given that he has it he can dictate what teams he would waive it for lowering the amount the trading team has to offer.

Unless you are sure you have a replacement franchise QB to take over, I doubt Dallas would benefit in a trade.
