Based on SJ quote last week about trading...I would be williing to bet they are not seeking any trades.
Stephen Jones has to first figure out why it is they haven't made any trades. It is a process.

Yeah, Jerry is on the phone negotiating the next big event at his luxury stadium (that has no home field advantage). Probably working out a deal for a Tractor Pull or Motocross event. After he gets that deal done, he’ll look for a bargain basement free agent our two.

Jerry is checking the Offer Up and Letgo apps...

OK, education 101 begins:

The Pats had money to spend, and they decided to throw a big chunk of it at the top free-agent cornerback, Stephon Gilmore: five years and $65 million, with a reported $40 million guaranteed. Seems like a big deal don't you think? Agreed, one in the last three years

Traded with the Saint's for their 2017 first-round pick (No. 32 overall) and swapping a late third-rounder for an early fourth for Brandin Cook's. Another pretty big deal. Imagine if Jerry did this?

They allowed Martellus Bennett to walk while making a trade with the Colts for an adequate TE in Dwayne Allen that is cheaper. GB signed Bennett and he ended up leaving them anyway.

Wouldn't we be tickled if we pulled off Stephon Gilmore and Brandin Cooks while letting some guys walk saving money in the process? Yeah, but they only always end up in the Superbowl while we always end up watching it.

read my question first

They're just sitting back knowing that if Zeke isn't suspended and Sean Lee/Tyron Smith are healthy then there's no need to make any moves. When everyone is on the field, we can beat anyone. You know why? Because "Dez Caught It!"

You have to make moves like this when you don't draft as well as we do. We like what we have everywhere and we're doing a great job. We're very fortunate in that regard.

That's kind of what the thread is about, chief. Acquisitions.

You're not good at this.
Dude, my comment was SPENDING in free agency...try reading first, I agree they are players, point was they just don't throw around cash and hope it sticks

Working the phones to order more johnny walker blue.

This team will be building the team mainly though the draft. Expect some more boom or bust value signings next week or two.

2 are trades....ONE BIG SIGNING IN THE LAST 3 YEARS....
Meanwhile Dallas did the following:

In 2015, they signed Darren McFadden
In 2016, they signed Benson Mayowa
In 2017, they signed Jonathan Cooper

Yep, that will do it. The Pats did more in one year than we did in 3. I didn't even look in 2016 or 2015 for the Pats.

I agree....but check above...2016 chris long....2015 sheard....they are not wild spenders like our fanbase demands...they make trades and are the model for the entire league...

No, these morons in the front office make dumb trades and give up 5th round picks for players like Matt Cassell and Brice Butler, but won't pony up a strong offer for an EARL FREAKIN THOMAS (superstar talent) at a position we've been desparate to hit on.

You still have to stand in awe of that quote.

It's amazing.

That is what bothers me about people saying YOU GUYS ARE WHINERS WAAAHH!

You get what really is a truly frightening quote like this and not a damn one of the happy fans even acknowledges he said it.

The FO are all really busy on the phones.

Cmon, they got a draft show to put on at the stadium here shortly. Aint got time for trades or prospects.
Hell, have to create a big specticle for TV, so everyone can say what a great business man Jerry and Family is.
Oh, you meant actualy for the draft - improving team roster ? Yeah, no ...

Funny how they were throwing away fourth and fifth rounders but then are telling us this year that the fourth and fifth round comp picks are like manna from heaven.

You cannot make up a special brand of idiocy like this if you tried.

The Pats have the best coach in NFL history, can we put them in their own category when it comes to how they do business, please sir... We don't demand to be wild spenders, we demand to quit giving out dumb contract to our own guys, and using future contracts as an excuse as to why they can't improve the team this year and to be in a position to be able to strike a deal when a superstar like Earl Thomas is on the block at a position we badly need!
