No. The biggest thing that is overlooked is that we rebuilt the whole team while never falling below .500.

Yes. He's made some time clock gaffes a novice madden player wouldn't and doesn't seem to always adjust but I think overall he is good for our team and will keep his job.

You can flap your gums and move your digits all over the keyboard as long as you can... Garrett will still be clapping on the sidelines because the injuries will give him a pass.

this is correct.

Anywhere else and he would be, but this is Dallas and the standards are really low here. Garrett shouldn't even be employed as it is, so of course he'll survive.

Like Sienfled "The Opposite" episode...lol

I know that I've speculated that 95% of the people here don't even watch the games, but are that many people so out of it that they don't know that Garrett is in the first year of a FIVE year contract extension? Even Steve Sarkisian didn't have that much time left on his contract.

Don't be fooled by that.....That was to take the heat off this year. Going back to last season......Garrett's seat might have been the hottest of all the coaches to start the year. And I'm not so sure that has been forgotten.

You know what, Garrett is a little too comfortable. I want to see some urgency out of his gameplan Sunday night that we haven't seen in the last month. Players shouldnt be the only ones feeling heat.

I don't think the players are being held to task nearly enough. Hardy has probably called out more slackers than Garrett has.

I imagine if we get blown out..... that some heads might roll. Which led me to think who could take over to save the season?

We all know Jerry has basically neutered Garrett by taking his play calling duties away...So what is Garrett good for? All he does is clap and encourage the players...takes the heat from the media for the front office mess.

And that's about it.

He doesn't make game day decisions. He's not in charge of the 53 roster. Doesn't make the game day 46....

Who couldn't do this job?

Which led me to speculate.....If it worked for Miami hiring Dan Campbell to get things fired up.......then maybe the Cowboys could look towards..............

A Parcells Disciple.....like Dan Campbell.

Won't take a bunch of BS from the players.......And might instill some fire in the team......

Won't be intimidated by Greg Hardy....like Garrett is.

If we are sitting @ 2-6........I just don't see how Garrett survives 0-6 without Romo. Dave Campo never lost 5 straight...let alone 6. And Stephen Jones just said yesterday....losing 5 straight is "unacceptable".

Which makes me believe with all the expectations this team had going into the season....alot more could be riding on this game than anybody realizes.

I hope not. Jerry should be questioning himself and not Garrett. Ask himself how could I set up this team with such a TERRIBLE backup QB? GM needs to be questioned and not the coach

What a dumb premise. Thinking there's any real chance Garrett gets fired during this season is nothing more than a far fetched fantasy that exists in the heads of fans who dislike or don't believe in Garrett.

I used to be a Garrett supporter...but It's really starting to become apparent....he just isn't the guy. He doesn't inspire anybody. And the RKG memo got completely thrown out the window. I think your starting to see the signs that the end is much closer than most realize. When you have a neutered coach....players see that. How can a player respect that?

You see signs that he has already lost control of the players....Joe Randle disobeying going over the top in the Saints game...Then going off when demoted. Hardy beating down the special teams coach. Mincey's unsportsman like penalty vs the Giants....All signs of lack of team control.

Jerry set a precedent by firing Wade mid-season. I don't think he will have a choice if this losing streak reaches a few more games.

Keep dreaming floaty. Garrett will be clap clap clapping away for a long time. Unfortunate, but it is not even worth the keystrokes speculating.

Garrett is safe this season. The decimation of this team by injuries assures him a mulligan.

Didn't Garrett just sign a new deal last year?

He's not leaving for another 10 years.

He's the new Tom Landry.

I don't blame him though for what has happened.

The injuries and losing Callahan have been the issue if you ask me. Replacing Callahan has been more of an issue than many want to admit.

So as the season plays out, we will see if that improves.

Seems like the last couple of games it has.

Everybody should look at Floaty's posting history. Since the history does not go further back than 2014, you'll have to Google his username along with Cowboyszone.com.

You will find that he has been trying to have Garrett fired since nearly the beginning. This anti-Garrett agenda of his is nothing new, so don't believe his "former supporter with a changed mind" schtick.

Garrett will be the Cowboys coach for a long, long time. Stephen absolutely loves him. Stephen wants no part of what his father went through with Jimmy and Parcells. Stephen has never been uncomfortable (or challenged) a day in his life and Garrett as his HC ensures he will remain so.

I can only WISH he was coaching for his job.

Then we could make an improvement. But he could roll up a lazy boy and watch the game on tv or play madden and get a pass.

Nah... Garrett's the man for the job, and Jerry knows that... He'll be back next season no matter what... I still think Garrett's a better coach than most we've had since the days of Landry and Jimmy... I also think that having this kind of continuity with our coaching staff and scheme has gone a long way to us establishing an identity... Continuity can be a bad thing if the coach loses the locker-room and the players stop listening, but that obviously hasn't happened here, the players trust their coach...

This is ridiculous.

The Cowboys lose the #1 rusher in the league during the offseason, the highest scoring WR in the NFL for the last 5 years combined in game #1, and the highest rated quarterback in the league last season in game #2. They lose their arguably best CB for the season in the preseason and two of their starters on defense go through a 4 game suspension to start the year.

In the next five games they play both Super Bowl teams from last year and two other teams that would be in the playoffs if the season ended today. Those five opponents have a combined 25-15 record, none of them have a losing record at the midpoint of the season.

And the problem is the coaching?

Take out Emmitt Smith, Michael Irvin and Troy Aikman before the 3rd game of the regular season. Assume Charles Haley had a 4 game suspension to start the season. Recall that in 1993 they went 0-2 when Emmitt was holding out. That's 0-2 with Michael Irvin, Troy Aikman and Charles Haley in the lineup. How are they gonna look after 7 games? Would Jimmy Johnson be coaching for his job?

And this season is somehow the fault of the Head Coach.

Did Jason Garret take a baseball bat to Tony Romo, Orlando Scandrick and Dez Bryant? Did he plant drugs on McClain? Did he instigate Hardy's domestic disturbace issues? Did he pick up the phone and convince the Eagles to offer a huge contract to Murray?

This season has begun in a very disappointing manner and somebody has to be blamed. Many of the critics of Jason Garrett are still reeling from the previous season so this seems like an opportune time to resume the bashing. While we are at it, there is still war, cancer, natural disaster and world hunger. Let's pin those on Jason too.

That rebuilding meme is on shaky ground when you can't win a game without one player.

What if the "rebuilding" was just the natural turnover of any NFL roster and it was the Elite qb he inherited that kept him above 8-8? What if the 12-4 season was just a perfect storm, a perfect confluence of events, and thus an aberration?

To me, those are just as plausible (and perhaps more plausible by the day) than the myth of the great rebuild.
