stop living in the past. Who cares how poor the safety play has been since Woody retired that doesn't change the fact that you guys are salivating over an average safety. If we give him money he will get blasted more than RW and he isn't worth it IMO.

I challenge you to find enough players at his position to push Hamlin down into the average pile.

Erm, what?

No one has a "hard-on" for Hamlin.

Most intelligent fans can spot the fact that Hamlin was a very solid contributor who made the team better. He earned a trip to the Pro Bowl.

Quite simply, Hamlin is a top 10 FS in this league. And we haven't had one of a while. If a team can get a top 10 player at ANY position, then that team should hold on to the player and thank their stars.

Hamlin doesn't have to be a Hall of Famer. He doesn't have to be the best FS in the league. (You apparently think he does or else there's no reason to "get a hard-on" for the guy).

Hamlin just needs to be a solid player that makes the team better, and he is certainly that. Top 10. Good enough for me. We are not likely to get anyone better.

Sign him up.

I disagree I don't think him going to the pro bowl isn't anything serious. Validating a man season because he made the pro bowl is ludicris when if he was on a bad team he would have been overlooked. However since he was on the cowboys and we went 13-3 it makes sense for him to go. As far him being a top ten player at his position IDK about all that. However I don't know how or what your basing this off of but w.e. But then again you're prob one of those fans who believe MB3 is a tob 10 RB in the nfl

You said Hamlin is average. Average means (roughly) "middle of the pack."

There are 32 starting safeties in the NFL.

Thus, for Hamlin to be average, there must be at least 15 better Free Safeties in the NFL.

So, NAME 15 BETTER FREE SAFETIES IN THE NFL.

Because you think he is average, you must think there are 15 better ones in the NFL.

So prove your point and name them.

:bang2:

This was alot like all the Flo talk in '05-remember how prior to his injury that year, we all wanted to throw him under the bus week after week for his knuckleheaded-ness(and he even costed us that miraculous Skins comeback with a stupid holding penalty)? Only to REALIZE his VALUE to the team in that year's 2nd half?(Bledsoe went from having an MVP year to being his old self again-it was obvious why)

Again-for those that say Hamlin is nothing more than an "average safety" is a blind homer.

With that being said-if we hadn't tagged him, he would have stayed in the division.(and upgraded any of those teams' secondary-heck, Snyder would have bent backwards and forwards to break the bank on this guy as well) Be fortunate he's still our property.

Funny how Hamlin was the "soup de jour", after his above-expected play last season.

Now, mix-in a contract dispute, and suddenly he's an also-ran.

Let's get the list started...

Top NFL Free Safeties

Brian Dawkins
Ed Reed
Darren Sharper
....

Erm.... how the heck are you going to name 15 Free Safeties better than Hamlin? I can't name 4.

Those lists me squat-Again, you need the proper personnel to run your scheme. Hamlin fit it perfectly. And despite Gurode's knuckleheadedness, Ditto.

That's all that counts.

Comparing this list is like comparing apples to oranges b/c of the VARIOUS SYSTEMS these guys in.

If James Sanders was in Jim Johnson's system, he would suck royally. Ditto John Lynch. And Gibril Wilson was also just a merely good product of Steve Spagnuola's schemes.

I will say this Again-if we DIDN'T tag Hamlin, whether it was the Eagles, Skins, or Giants, he would have STAYED in the division.(If anything-him teaming up with either Dawk, Landry, or Phillips would have been scary)

Some people are either victims of short term memory loss or are just plain stupid.

If the years after Woody, at FS, doesn't tell you just how hard it is to get even a decent FS then you're hopelessly delusional.

Hamlin was, by far, the best FS we've had since Woody and made plenty of plays last year to warrant being resigned.

This notion that I saw on here that he gave up 'lots of TDs' is one of the most silly and uniformed things I've seen on these boards to date.

I disagree I think Hamlin play is suspect and he benefited from a couple of factors.

1. The RW bashing.
2. The team going 13-3.

A lot of his mistakes went over looked.

Then go ahead and give us a LONG list(or lack thereof) of those times when the opposition just exploited us with that deep ball.(alot like the numerous times we witnessed when Keith Davis was taking numerous bad angles)

1. The RW bashing has been going on on CZ since '04.

2. If we were 3-13 instead, Romo, Flo and TO would likely get all the bashing here, in addition to Roy.
