Is Hamlin ever getting a contract?

I really think with a couple of the ridiculous contracts signed this offseason by very very average players, that we should prepare ourselves for potentially not having Hamlin...he was ok last yr, but he was not special (in spite of what some think)

I really dont think giving Hamling 35-40 mils over 5 or 6 yrs is a smart decision...he simply isnt worth it and will never make enough plays to make the investment worthwhile

ultimately, wouldnt surprise me if a decision were made at some point during TC to either keep Hamlin or Roy Williams, with Henry or Watkins moving into the starting FS spot

David

I hope your right, cut Williams and don't sign Hamlin to anything ridiculous...Watkins should get playing time, and he should be fine.

Once again I think that because of the poor play that we had at FS since Woodson retired you guys are overrating this guy. Personally I'd rather see what Watkins and Brown could do.

Well-like it was mentioned before-he was on the Birds' radar(assuming we didn't tag him). I would have puked if they gave him an offer he couldn't have refused.

I will be surprised if he does. I just think at some point you have to hope your draft choices work out (Watkins) or you see how Henry would do at FS before you make a long term committment to Hamlin.

Don't get me wrong, I like Hamlin but you can only pay your secondary so much!

My prediction : Henry, Hamlin or Roy - one will not be on the Boys roster next year.

I don't buy into that theory. I think you pay your money where you need to and I think Hamlin is a needed piece. Other than Dallas winning the lottery and getting a solid #2 receiver out there, I don't see any better place to spend that money and I might even call Hamlin a bigger need. Going into the season with a hope and a prayer at that position when the team can have an answer just doesn't make sense to me.

He will show up. Probably piss and moan all the way but he will show up.

IDC if he wants to give up championship hopes to play for the birds go right ahead, He is easily replaced and frankly i thin Watkins will replace him bid mid season this year anyways.

Hamlin was a pro bowler on a 13-3 team. Clearly he was above average.

:)

.....

so if the team was 3-13 does he still make the pro bowl ?

:laugh2: only 2 reasons that would ever happen

#1 Hamlin gets hurt

#2 Hamlin moves over to SS to replace Roy and Watkins moves to FS to replace Hamlin.

IDK i don't think as highly of Hamlin as some of you guys but I am high on Watkins.

And you honestly believe that? You think Watkins can play that position on the level that Hamlin did in every aspect? What do you base that on? Hope?

I agree-it wasn't like we franchised him for nothing.

This isn't FF-in reality, either your player FITS into your system, or NOT-we witnessed the results last year, compared to the years before.:bang2:

I think Hamlin can and would do that. He played very solid for us last year n his 2nd season. After being thrown into the fire his rookie year. I think he is progressing and will just get better and better. He is and I think he has more play making ability than hamlin also.

I don't understand the hard on every1 has for Hamlin.

Erm, what?

No one has a "hard-on" for Hamlin.

Most intelligent fans can spot the fact that Hamlin was a very solid contributor who made the team better. He earned a trip to the Pro Bowl.

Quite simply, Hamlin is a top 10 FS in this league. And we haven't had one of a while. If a team can get a top 10 player at ANY position, then that team should hold on to the player and thank their stars.

Hamlin doesn't have to be a Hall of Famer. He doesn't have to be the best FS in the league. (You apparently think he does or else there's no reason to "get a hard-on" for the guy).

Hamlin just needs to be a solid player that makes the team better, and he is certainly that. Top 10. Good enough for me. We are not likely to get anyone better.

Sign him up.

stop living in the past. Who cares how poor the safety play has been since Woody retired that doesn't change the fact that you guys are salivating over an average safety. If we give him money he will get blasted more than RW and he isn't worth it IMO.

Giving him the Franchise amount hes got waiting for him will not get him blasted. It would allow him to play again and further prove his value to the team, not that he has to.

Average? Average means middle of the pack.

Name me 16 better free safeties playing in the NFL right now. Let's see you do it. Should be easy seeing as how "average" you think Hamlin is.

You can't.

Hamlin is top 10 or better. That's clearly good enough. A top 10 player is worth signing to a long term contract because it is unlikely you will find anyone better.
