Is it actually dangerous to wear Cowboy's gear to the Linc?

Really pathetic state of things but seriously that entire city is like a prison yard and the people are generally vile

I recall a conversation with some Giants' fans about how awful the Eagles crowd was, and how they'd never go back there. Also, back when the Eagles had picked up an old school Raiders player, he commented about how excessive the fans were in Philadelphia.

I had a worse experience at a Giants game than an Eagles game.

unless you're the type that wont mind getting into a scrap at a game, don't bother. Too many stories i've heard from folks who've driven up there. And definitely dont park your car near the stadium where it's known the car belongs to a Cowboys fan. good chance it'll get vandalized. They are a bunch of animals.

my only first hand account was 30 years ago with family at the Vet watching a Skins/Eagles game. The group i was with was family who are all Skins fans, including a bunch of kids. We had cups of beer and food thrown at us all game.

Has anybody done this? What are your experiences? I am going to the game on Sunday and was thinking of wearing my Dez jersey.

I can't answer your question but I will share my experience. Back in the mid 2000s, The Saints had an early season game in Philly. At the time, my lil bro played for the Saints. One of my long time friends is unfortunately an Eagles fan. He and I decided to make plans to attend that game. Fast forward to the game (btw, there is nothing, and I do mean nothing like an authentic philly cheesesteak in Philly)... My buddy is decked out in his Philly gear and I purposely went neutral. The walk from the car to the stadium through the tailgating maze was something out of Mad Max. I'm not playing when I say Philly fans (not all but a good number) remind me of ex cons that are just looking for the next reason to get locked back up...

I had a great day. It was a good game and we got to hangout with my bro afterwards. During the course of the game, I saw numerous occasions where identified Saints fans were screwed with in my vicinity. A couple of fight broke out as well. One directly behind me and another in the parking lot after the game. On both occasions, I thought security and police were very slow to react.

A car in the parking lot was vandalized. It looked like they tried to set it on fire but someone put it out. Tires slashed.. etc. I'm pretty sure it was probably a car that had I LOVE Saints markings on it. I never got close enough to tell but one can only assume.

So, in short, tread lightly @ the Linc my friend.

i'd have to say no.

it's dangerous to wear it in philly or in a 20 mile radius of philly.

but, your call out to adventure.

I went last year to the December game. Don't even bother wearing it. After having a football thrown directly at my face I went in to enjoy the game. Problem was I was wearing a Dez jersey and he had scored 2 touchdowns already. As I walked up the steps to my seat. The entire section started chanting some bad things which is fine obviously. When dez scored his 3rd touchdown. A man approached me took a picture with me and told me and I quote "you can stay and watch the end of the game and most likely get stabbed by the group of people sitting in front of me. (They had actually been saying this throughout the game and he overheard) or you can go back to your hotel and enjoy the game in the comfort and safety of your hotel room." I took my second option. I love the Cowboys. I did what I had to do. As I left I watched a group of fans pour a beer on a 12 year old kid and his father for wearing matching Romo jerseys. I threw up an X to the entire section I had been politely kicked out of. Zipped up my coat and found myself a cab. Philly fans are classless idiots who thunk football is the be all end all of their lives and when they lose are worse then a child who just had his favourite toy taken away forever. Be safe. Lots of great stuff I'm Philly. Minus the fans.

You'll be worse off in the parking lot than in the actual stadium. These fans will have been tailgating all day and be waaaaaasted by game time. they lost last week, so another loss will send them into a frenzy.

i went to the game in Philly in 2013 (I now live in South Philly, about 10 minutes from the stadium). I wore blue but no visible Cowboy stuff. In the actual game, a lot depends on where you sit. I had really good seats, so you get more professional people and families, so you can clap and cheer and be good, even spoke to a lot of people around me. When we won though, the two guys sitting next to me and my then-GF were pissed and one threw an empty water bottle at me...I told him to go use the tears in his eyes on his buddy. To be fair, I was chirping a lot during the game...had the drink in me since 8 AM.

I'd mostly watch out in the parking lot, though even there it can be totally fine as there are, inevitably, a lot of other Cowboy fans around. And especially watch out after the game, when we've won :)

It's really disappointing though. I grew up in South Jersey and now live in South Philly, and the area and people are so nice. It's really a shame they can't be civil to rival fans in their stadium. A huge majority are totally fine and jovial, but it just takes that one group of *******s to ruin your day.

And Philly loves all sports, but the Eagles and football are their #1, by far. Phillies' fans are fine, stuff like this never happens at Flyers' games. But football is a different animal for them. They become totally rabid. Must be the terrible lack of success.

I remember back in the early to mid 90"s when Cowboy fans would actually take over the VET.

yes, i spent a couple of years in Philly in the 90s. Generally the fans are cordial and knowledgeable. It's just that when you actually attend an Eagles game, the animals are out. Security is never around either
