Is it all on MM for this seasons success?

GMFB just had a segment discussing this. It was based off of Jerry's comments from yesterdays PC.

Jerry's comment was, something like ... it is not so much what Kellen Moore wasn't, it is what Mike is ...
So they dissected that as to what he may have meant.

As they believe it came down to the last 2 years playoff loses to SF. They said what a great offense they have had. But yet 12 points and 17 points in playoff losses just is not cutting it. This is where MM comes into calling plays.
Jerry also said something like ... they feel the offense can be where they want it to be now as to moves made ...

They said Dallas has had this great offense, but can't get further in the playoffs. So is MM the answer for this, and is the season all on him now.
And that Jerry over what happened the past 2 years, decided a change was needed to overcome this?

The consensus was the defense will improve, as we seen the additions, but what did they do to improve the offense, so it should at least be the same. Then one said well they they added Brandon Cooks, so that will help a lot.
Jazz, I don’t consider what Jerry says in these pressers to be gospel or an accurate representation of what the organization actually believes. We all know Jerry talks a lot and at times even just drops into a freestyle ramble causing me to laugh and say, “What in the world does that mean?”… :D

I always thought it was strange when they hired McCarthy that he wasn’t given more control of the offense. He said it was his choice…maybe it was. But it always seemed weird to me.

Will the season hinge on Big Mac’s ability to effectively orchestrate the offense? I don’t think that’s everything. It will take all three phases- offense defense and STs to take this team to higher achievements. I see this team centered more on being a balanced team rather than dependent on its offense.

I would add that even if this team underachieves, I honestly don’t see Big Mac getting canned. (Unless the players quit on him like they did Wade Phillips) Why? Because at 81, Jerry does not want to go through hiring another head coach. Because he doesn’t hire coaches strictly on their ability to win. He picks coaches first and foremost based on his comfort with them. And he’s comfortable with Big Mac.

If we fire MM after another 12 + winning season but losing in divisional round , Jethro will never attract another HC like MM.

Maybe it will time for fans and critics to accept this team isn’t talented enough in the right places to go further .

There’s not a HC, QC or OC alive that can fix a broke QB.
Or the toxic culture created by our dysfunctional ownership.

Our problem was never just our coaching alone. But too many fans can’t accept it .

And what other legit HC’s are coming here next if we fire MM after 3 straight 12+ winning seasons that come up short in playoffs .

Perhaps fans might finally recognize this team isn’t as talented in the right places as some think it is. And the possibility there are some teams more talented and better coached.

That's hilarious , whenever I keep reading this stuff about Prescott hasn't shown he can lead a team deep into the playoffs....

you mean dak has shown that he can't lead a team deep into the playoffs by himself because it's kind of obvious if Mike McCarthy 's kind of make up something he might wanna figure out how to make up a strong physical run game with a offensive line that actually shows up to play in the playoff game against the stout defensive lines in the front sevens that we keep meeting because 20/18/2021 and 2022 the common denominator is we have no run game, the offensive line is not blocking well ,and that is why the offense keeps failing against teams with really good defensive lines..

You winna sit here and make me believe that Prescott in 2021 was supposed to move the ball when the offensive line had 11 penalties, they had 14 penalties that messed up the game on a whole which made it almost impossible to run... the Rams stopped our run game as well and then last year again, if you think 3 yards per carry before TP went out and then two yards per carry in the second-half was somehow going to scare the Niners into backing off?? 16 run plays, that's a joke the 9ers dictated the game because the OL and Play calling just couldn't get it done.

So let's be clear and make those statements true and not narratives that are being made-up that Prescott is the reason we're not getting further and somehow the coach has to make up for it no the offense on a whole just needs to be better... The selective memory around here because I watched those games the reason the offense wasn't moving is because we were one-dimensional there wasn't a consistent strong run game the offensive line was not blocking well and all the defense had to do was playing coverage.. they didn't even have to put 5-6 or seven people up at the line in order to get pressure or to stop the run, they literally just manhandled the line and when you do that just play coverage it muddles up the entire offense.

The expectations from the fanbase it's ridiculous to think that the quarterback should have to overcome bad offense from the coaching to the line play the run game the skill players not playing well is absolute ridiculousness..
If you read my post completely, you would see that I put MM on notice. Despite what some posters here say, we have been blessed with very good O-line play in general since Dak has been here. Have they been great every game? No...hell, no o-line is, not even Philly's line, which may be an ATG line (I admit they didn't have a bad game last year by all measurements, but that is very rare in the NFL).

To an extent, I do put some of the blame on Dak. But even more than that, I blame a coaching staff that either a) didn't see what was failing, or b) saw what was failing but didn't know how to or was unable to fix things. Like it or not, Dak takes some of the blame. Remember the KC-TB Super Bowl? Tamp beat KC 31-9. Mahomes had no o-line to speak of that game. He was running for his life. But I'll also bet that few people remember that Mahomes still made plays. He has two passes under extreme pressure that he put right on the hands of his receivers in the end zone, and both were dropped. You know who didn't make plays against a good team last year when it counted? Dak...or the year before. You know who was the coach both years, right? They can share the blame, as they should.

Yes, it is always on the HC but when a coach is gone and that HC replaces him with himself, his butt is as warm as it gets.

He also works for a GM that will never accept that he might be the problem.

Bullet, I think he is just as comfortable with Quinn, which is why keeping him was a priority.

The real question is just how was the Moore situation handled? Did they sell Booger on it?

I think they did because Moore was Booger's boy. He thought he might succeed where he failed with Garrett. They had a top 3 offense with Moore. So what if he's pass happy, what successful team isn't?

McC's success as a play caller is crucial but just as crucial is Moore's in LA. And that comparison is going to be made all season long by the media. I think McC got a bit of a lump in his throat when LA snatched Moore up so quickly with the guy they have as the trigger man. He replaced Garrett and he failed as an OC in NY. Moore has the second coming of Marino, the only QB to throw for more TD's and yards in his first 3 seasons than Herbert.

I am not turning this into a Prescott thread but he isn't in the same league as Herbert in natural talent with a football. And McC is making it sound like he's trying to take the ball out of his QB's hands while Moore is going to turn Herbert loose.

Yes Brandt hates Dallas. I swear some comments he made before the season started last year, as well going into the playoffs. Sounded exactly like rants we seen on here.
He was as bas as Stephen A. Smith.

I was surprised today when he said Dallas was a good team or very good team, but they need to go further. Which is true, we all know that. But I was surprised he said it without the rant as he done before. I think that TB win settled him down some as after that win, he said good, they showed they can win a playoff game and do so convincingly or something like that.
Kyle Brandt really likes his job, we get that. He'd surely be a better host if he switched to decaf and cut out the sugar treats. But if he'd just repeat and rapidly say "Tex Schramm" three times, and read up on the NFL's climb in popularity, he might understand why the Cowboys are the game on Sundays.
That aint asking much for a media type to take on. Simple.
Nice studio there, too.

It's been on him every year since he got here, he's supposed to be the QB guru that gets Dak over the playoff yips. Maybe having control of the overall offense and playcalling will help in that respect...

This is true. He will likely have an agreement with Quinn before MM gets shown the door.
DQ’s best shot of taking over is a collapse during season. Otherwise he’s waiting for the perfect situation as HC. Dallas isn’t it.

- When playoff exit failures or losing, non - playoff seasons go down, someone is gonna be made the scapegoat and have to take the fall. .heads gotta roll.

- McCarthy has a DC, whose a former HC whose been to the SB, and he's being currently heralded as an Trojan hero Charismatic, Idealistic and a leader.
And shockingly has not entertained or accepted any HC gigs or offers.

- Quite yes,it's all on MCCarthy ...Big Mac has a hot seat alright .. and fortunately management has finally surrendered him the driving reins to the franchise QB and the entire offense ..no more Kellen .. no more major excuses will be accepted now.

It's up to the Mac to overcome and conquer the Niners now ..

Not true ..
no one thought Parcells would dare come near Jerry ,.. plus the Cowboys organization is more so ran thru Jerry's son Stephen than it is Jerry himself .

We know why. Money grab. He wasn't the same BP as before.

Turned out he was a pawn to get the new stadium.
Yep, Tuna was also going through, or had just went through, a divorce. He was trying to recoup some money.
Still, I wish he had stayed one more year.

That would be hilarious if we go 16-1 and lose in the divisional round again. Lol

Do we fire a HC for going 16-2 and losing three straight seasons in divisional round ?

The drama Jethro creates on his own is pure gold. Lol
We have people around here who have hated MM ever since he got here, so yeah they'd fire him for anything, including 16-2 and losing the division round like you said.

I sure hope so. Because if not, that means Jerry is meddling again.
But that would be under the assumption he’s stopped meddling.

I tend to believe it’s much like Parcells said in you have to convince Jethro to go against his instincts which it appears MM and DQ have been fairly successful in doing .

But that doesn’t mean Jethro isn’t attempting to meddle . They are just shooting much of it down. For now anyway. But if disappointing season endings continue that patience and confidence will wear thin.

Yea, this sets up for a beautiful high drama comparison .

If Moore and Herbert light it up in LA while MM and Prescott take a step back or at least no more progress , it’s likely not going to go well for MM.

And I totally agree. Not many better places for Moore to rebound than with one of the most highly touted QB’s this era. Makes us really take pause and wonder if it was Moores offense and playcalling which helped uplift Prescott and our offense. And if he was used as a scapegoat for Dak and MM.

Coach , this is a level of drama none of us could have scripted any better . It’s going to be quite a side show for fans, critics and the media to closely watch. Should be fun. Lol
