A 2nd round pick for Bennett is nuts. I am hearing a 2nd round pick for Anquan Boldin.

Just because a player is drafted in the 2nd he doesn't retain that value when he's on the block.

Then it stands the reason that we shouldn't trade him. We just drafted Bennett and he's got some years to put in before it's time to talk contract with him. The Cardinals are trying to get rid of a potential headache and get something in the process. It's not that same scenario.

No way they are labeling him a FB.

They are labeling him a 'football player'.

I just don't see the need for Casey if Bennett is still on the roster.

And I would be very worried that Casey could handle all this stuff as a rookie.

And is there any reason a defense should expect Deon Anderson to do anything else that block when he's on the field?

And when this offense got down inside the Red Zone (one yard line) where you would need a true FB they just bring in a big body. It's not like Anderson wows anyone with his blocking any way.

But if this offense is at the five yard line and Casey is moving all over the place the defense is thinking. Now Bennett also gives you an advantage inside the five as well because of his size and leaping ability.

For some reason I just don't see Bennett here if Casey is here.

I'd be against it.

Enough of drafting the TE every year. Do something to get better!

I didn't like it when they used the second rounder on Fasano when they already had a Pro Bowler in Witten.

But they gave us the whole two TE offense routine like that would revolutionize the league.

Never happened.

I didn't like trading Fasano and using another second rounder on Bennett.

Then we got the two TE thing again.

It looked better, but still not anything earth-shaking either.

Now we're getting the jack-of-all-trades, keeping defenses guessing story.

And I sure wouldn't like it if they used yet another second rounder on Casey.

**** James Casey. Can we PLEASE stop drafting TE's in the 2nd!!!!? James Casey is a JAG and Martellus is legit. If we even sniff Casey in the 2nd I will be one pissed off Cowboy fan. I'd rather have Patrick Chung. That's how bad I dislike Casey at 51. We have the best TE in the NFL already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then it's yet another net loss for the Cowboys.

They turned their last second round TE from a 2nd rounder into a 4th rounder and now they'd be doing it again?

Pass.

I guess you know that Mosley is wrong?

Why wouldn't he be a FB? He's closer to that than a traditional TE. This guy is two inches shorter and 20 pounds lighter than Bennett and Witten.

Not sure where you're going with the rest of the post.

Listen I am not trying to trade him.

I am wondering how Casey fits in. Then how Bennett fits in.

When you send a contingency to look at a player on the Wednesday before the draft it's safe to say the team has some interest.

And maybe the Cowboys just don't want a #2 TE who only gets to do what a true 2nd team TE gets to do.

Casey does more. Is he better than Bennett? There is no answer for that question because they don't play the same position. One is Jason Witten's backup. The other is an H Back which is a new position for this offense.

And I think we can all agree the offense in 2009 is going to look a little different.

I don't even like it.

I want a S or a Guard at that #51 spot.

But we are talking about the Cowboys and they have shocked us a bit with some draft picks recently.

personally i wished we didnt draft a TE/FB with another high pick, 3 years ago we drafted Fasano high, then we traded him for a 4th
Then we drafted Bennnett with a high 2nd

Now their talkin about taking Casey with a high 2nd or 3rd, thats 3 TE's in a 3-4 year span, while we need or have other serious needs at OG-OT, WR with speed, LB, DE, NT and safety;

i agree with getting a football player that is focused on football, but drafting 3 TE's in a 4 year span, is way too much, kinda reminds me of when the Lions drafted Rogers, Mike Williams, Roy Williams, and Johnson with high picks

seems like someone in the drafting department or whomever is in charge of the draft doesnt know what they are doing at drafting a WR or offensive linemen

I just don't see the need for a guy like Casey on this team. They can't even show that they can run a consistant offense..now we get cute with Casey? We drafted a TE in the 2nd in 2007..traded him..drafted a TE in 2008 and we trade him again for another TE in 2009? That's worse than when the Lions drafted 3 top 10 recievers in 4 years.

It's the way it is with most players.

Because they have been picking the player that they feel is the best at the time and it has payed off.

As long as we're drafting good players than I have no problem with letting the rich get richer.

I'll give our scouting department the benefit of the doubt regardless of who they draft.

Some of you guys make me laugh.

Listen yank, the kid can play. So the money and fame has gotten to his head a little, big deal he's just a pup and it's to be expected but make no mistake he's proven himself in half a season that he's above average. It's even been said he might be a slightly better blocker than Witten. Why trade a proven player for a rookie? That's not even laughable that's...well that's just plain dumb....:nono2:

H Back.

What is this offense losing if the FB position is gone from this offense?

Nothing.

Deon Anderson hasn't done anything in two seasons as the FB.

I'm hoping for Max Unger.

He's got as much versatility on the offensive line as Casey does at whatever position they're thinking for him.

In fact, unlike Casey, Unger has a position.

I don't hate Casey as a player, quite the opposite.

But I do hate the fact that they'd consider using a 3rd - or worse yet - 2nd rounder on drafting him.

I kind of agree.

But I am basing this off of what's going on recently.

This offense is going to be different in 2009.
